Thank you for the info, that's what I think is happening as well. It might seem counter-intuitive to keep a little baby away from family for an extended period of time, but I do believe they keep the best long-term outcome in mind and have to cross the t-s and dot the i-s. Additionally the family can think through their options and the first emotions can fade.
And I do believe the wee one is well cared for during that time (and I assume they have visits and such - and also can take their time to heal and organize the funerals and such without the additional need to take 24/7 care of a baby).

But actually, maskedwoman, I am only posting because I wanted to say I'm sorry about your mum. I know how dementia of a loved one is really difficult for a multitude of reasons. The good moments and the hard ones, the exhaution, the feelings.
Thank you so much. It is very difficult. And I agree with you that, wherever the baby is right now, she's being well-cared for. I feel for judges in situations like this. With such a horrible thing happening to take the baby's parents, I would imagine the judge feels a great responsibility to make sure she ends up in a good and safe place.

what in the what?? When in Juvie as a teen we saw reports of some of his suicide attempts is this yet another? He is in jail, accused of crimes that will land him in prison for life. And he is shouting from the rooftops that he is a criminal informant who was working with the FBI to take down the Vice Lords, of which he was a member???? This is a death wish, we are watching a suicide attempt in real time JMO

I don't necessarily believe him but I don't know what he hopes to gain by it. smh

I can't read the info linked but assume if what you say is the case, he's trying to have himself put in some kind of safe guarding situation where nobody can get to him -or- it's an elaborate explanation / excuse (aka LIE) as to why he slaughtered a whole family and left a baby with no parents -or- he's psychotic and manic ... or all of the above!

How is he even allowed comms with the outside world to discuss his crime when it hasn't been tried yet?

**EXCLUSIVE: ACCUSED MASS MURDERER AUSTIN DRUMMOND SPEAKING OUT ABOUT THE CASE AGAINST HIM.
This is his first interview since his arrest August 5 for quadruple murder in Lake County, TN.
He was on the run for nearly a week — making national news and terrorizing communities in northwest Tennessee.
How did he and I make contact?
A source provided my cellphone number to Drummond and he called me from where he is being held in the Obion County, TN jail without bond.
Drummond is accused of killing James Wilson (21), Adrianna Williams (20), Braydon Williams (15), and Cortney Rose (38).
That is four counts of first-degree murder and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
SO, WHAT DID DRUMMOND SAY IN THIS EXCLUSIVE PHONE INTERVIEW WHICH I DID RECORD?
(Audio clips to come.)
Here are key points:
— Drummond revealed he was working as a confidential informant after being approached by prosecutors.
He claims to have assisted authorities including the FBI — under cover — to help in their crackdown on drug smuggling into jails and prisons … helping to arresting dealers, crooked cops and gang member leadership.
— Drummond confirms he became a member of the Vice Lords gang during a prior stint behind bars.
— In recent weeks before the murders he was notified that his cover was blown.
Then when the four people were murdered he ran.
— Drummond admits he did the wrong thing by running, but said he was scared.
— He says he is innocent and had no reason to kill the four individuals — all of whom he considered to be family.
But Drummond does say — without explanation — he was somehow directly involved in the killings.
NOW, I did ask him what he knows about how they were killed and, if not him, then who did it?
I also asked him to explain the role the baby that was found left in a car seat alive in Dyer County played.
Drummond said, at this point, he is not ready to answer those questions.
He definitely knows more.
What to believe is another matter.
But we will talk again.
Now not long after hearing from Drummond, I contacted Lake County District Attorney Danny Goodman, Jr.
He was already well aware of the conversation with Drummond.
All jailhouse phone calls are recorded and this one is now already part of the criminal case file.
General Goodman could not comment specifically yet on what Drummond said.
But he did say there’s no doubt in his mind Drummond killed the four and there was a clear motive.
We may soon learn much more at a preliminary hearing on the case in early September.
I did reach out to Drummond’s court appointed attorney, but have not heard back.
MORE TO COME.
--------------------------
I am assuming Beres plans to discuss this on the evening news. He's with Channel 5 out of Nashville. I hope to catch the broadcast

That sounds backward to me. From what I have read doing research, Police/FBI approach people to work as a CI, typically for leniency on pending charges. The Prosecutor has to agree but, as far as I know, that is the prosecutor's role in the process.

Plus, if he is a CI for someone, and he was so scared, why didn't he call his handler for help instead of hiding in the woods and getting rides and cell phones from what are probably other gang members?

agree, sounds all sorts of made up to me. But what else is he going to do? Admit he murdered people who considered him family in cold blood? Nah, the mean old gang did it.

The fact that he called a reporter to announce that he is a snitch right before going to prison for life is mind bogglingly stupid. Almost as stupid as getting 10 years in prison for stealing $44 at gunpoint and then getting 3 more years added for threatening jurors on a recorded line from jail.

I believe him. I think he's scared now because law enforcement has him in prison. If they know he was undercover, now they have him in a place they can easily access him. Also, he admits to having connection to the killings.

I'll be honest, I NEVER believe what accused killers/rapists/etc. say. This has some ring of truth to it. A gut instinct tells me he's not lying.

One thing that leaves me confused are the arrested accomplices - aren't they members of the Vice Lords too? Or am I remembering incorrectly? If they are, why would they help him if he was a CI and his cover was blown by VL like he claims? This all makes my head spin.

My bet is that he's a fantasist and liar not an informant. JMO

I just can't make sense of the idea that he's an undercover snitch who gets caught up in a mass murder, so he hides for a week, getting help from the people who should be very pissed at him. I can't help but think if that was true, they would have found his dead body on about day 2. Or never. And now that he's in jail, just in case any of the inmates haven't heard yet, he announces to the world that he's a snitch. Having said that, if any of that turns out to be true, that's what protective custody is for.

What a decision for prosecutors. Leave him in GenPop signaling it's ridiculous, or put him in protective customer just in case on idiot believes him. What a mess.

He, Nicholas Rossi and Nicholas Kassotis really should become penpals. Form a creative writing club, maybe. Not even Hollywood would consider the scripts.

TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. - Cell phone data puts Austin Drummond at the scene of the murders of four West Tennessee family members, according to a special agent with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

Do we know where the footage of the alleged attempted murder inside the prison came from? Who released it? I find it very strange that footage has been released prior to him even being tried on that case...

Given that the prison video looks to have come from a cellphone filming a laptop, I tend to think it was leaked rather than intentionally released.
I wonder if his former prison guard girlfriend had something to do with that?

Intelligence is not an arrow he has in his quiver
