We know the police are interested in Brad Simpson's phone, which he reportedly placed in lockdown mode to avoid tracking.
Hyslip is not involved with that case but explained that while lockdown mode protects the phone from unauthorized access, geofencing could still be possible.
"Lockdown mode is more of a protection from someone else getting into your phone when it's on, or if they were to start it up, it would be harder to enable law enforcement or anybody to get into the phone," Hyslip said.
