Does talking about the case here count as talking to the media? I was briefly interviewed by LE early in the case about Brad’s guns.

IMO, as a general rule, if you are being called as a witness, participating here could be viewed a problem. However, pursuant to the Gag Order, I think you're likely considered a third party discussing old news pre-gag and/or already in the public domain. JMO.

JUST IN: Judge Joel Perez has issued a gag order in Brad Simpson’s criminal cases. Attorneys, witnesses and law enforcement involved in the case are prohibited from discussing it with the media. It’s rare for such orders to be issued in Bexar County.

DEC 10, 2024
The order includes anyone who has given a statement to law enforcement personnel, to the District Attorney's Office or have testified in any proceedings in this case.

The judge's order notes that any further interviews or statements made to media would interfere with Simpson's right to a fair trial by an impartial jury.
It seems that gag orders are becoming more common…. Just look at CD case in Idaho. All worked out. And Nate E was still able to cover case. Jmo

The family whose house she went to before going home and being attacked must know more if Suzanne felt safe enough to go over there for some refuge.

Susan‘s mother also mentioned in her interview early on in this saga that it was not uncommon for Susanne to stay over at friends houses. I picked up on this from that point that her not sleeping at home was not uncommon. This ties to the fact that domestic abuse often When it result in a death is not a new activity it is a pattern of abuse that has escalated. All these adults who have observed this over the years must be really struggling and thinking about what they could’ve done different. They also are gonna have a real hard time explaining to their children how they knew all along. In some ways, these people remaining quiet are going to be helping Brad get away with it in the end.

The victim, a mother and wife of more than 20 years of the abuser was also an adult who for reasons of her own chose to stay in the relationship. This is not unheard of and I don't doubt these same individuals tirelessly begged SCS to end her marriage with BS. No, I disagree that SCS's mother or her friends helped Brad get away with anything. BS is the only criminal here who intentionally murdered his wife.

Personal responsibility all the way around .
It’s never a bad idea to reinforce to someone when they are in a clearly dangerous situation and help reassure their decision to take action. Only they can take action ultimately. But any talk about staying because of the family and crap like that is not helpful in a dangerous situation when there’s physical Abuse, which only escalates more and more and more and more and more overtime.

In the end, it’s her choice

Personally, I operate under the guys that it’s better to have spoken up and be ostracized then to have said nothing and watched them be destroyed. Now we have extreme destruction. For all members of the family. Having a abuser in your family, who allegedly used a sawzall as part of their decision to end a family members life, and hide the body, again, allegedly, is a pretty awful thing to have in your family lineage. It’s not cool. It’s not glamorous. It’s diabolical.

Cotter is indicted for evidence tampering and possession of prohibited weapons, both 3rd-degree felonies. The 65-year-old is accused of taking a fully automatic AK-47 that belonged to Brad Simpson and hiding it behind a wall in his home two days after Brad’s wife Suzanne went missing.

A celebration of life for missing Olmos Park mother Suzanne Simpson is now happening Thursday afternoon.

The Celebration of Life is a private event. It will be held at the First Presbyterian Church off North Alamo Street.

Due to a gag order in the murder case, we do not expect to hear from family.

Cotter is accused of entering Brad Simpson’s gun room on Oct. 8, at his urging, and removing an AK-47 that was illegally modified and hiding it in his own home, police said. The firearm, which the feds said was modified into a “machine gun,” was not properly registered.

According to the weapons charge indictment obtained Tuesday, the gun he is accused of hiding was a 7.62x39mm caliber, Chinese, model Type 56, select-fire rifle. It was not registered with the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, which is maintained by the ATF.

An indictment on the charge of "tampering with evidence with intent to impair" alleges that Cotter intended to hide the gun from authorities. The indictment says he "conceal[ed] a firearm, namely a machine gun, with intent to impair its availability as evidence in any subsequent investigation."

Can you imagine that conversation between Simpson and Cotter?

Why would anyone need this or think they need this?! Who is he so afraid of?

Boy's and their toys.

The mention of a gun room insinuates that BS had other weapons and was not prohibited from having "legal" weapons. I think BS contacted Cotter knowing the house would be searched, the not so legal gun would be found, and he was trying to avoid getting in trouble. But his big mistake was using a text message to tell Cotter to get the gun and hide it.

However, I don't think the machine gun was used to murder Suzanne.

Police said they found evidence of messages between Simpson and his business partner, James Vallee Cotter, on Oct. 8 at 4:30 p.m.

“If you’re in Bandera can you haul 🤬🤬🤬 and meet me at your house?” and “I don’t have much time…” were messages Simpson sent Cotter, according to the affidavit.

“I will be there in 40 minutes,” Cotter responded, the document says.

“OK, make sure and leave all that 🤬🤬🤬🤬 into the pump house, especially the gun,” Simpson responded, according to the affidavit.
