Owners of Swiss disaster bar were booed upon arriving at the public prosecutor's office this morning.
Jacques and Jessica Moretti were called monsters and murderers. ‘You killed my son. You killed my brother. Where is my son?’ they shouted. ‘How can you eat and sleep?’
The two were visibly shaken by the confrontation. ‘We are just working people,’ the man tried to defend himself. ‘If we have to pay, we will pay.’
This morning was the fourth time that the two reported to the prosecutors in Sion to make a statement about the fire. Yesterday and today, lawyers representing the victims were also allowed to ask questions. There are more than fifty of them, representing over 130 parties.
Yesterday, there was an ‘emotional conversation’ between the Moretti couple and the mother of two of the injured. The meeting with Leila Micheloud was arranged ad hoc on the sidelines of the interrogations. ‘It was important for these people to be able to see each other, talk and exchange thoughts about what happened,’ said her solicitor, who did not elaborate on the content.
The Morettis' solicitor hoped that the conversation would contribute to the healing process. ‘It was important for both parties to be able to distance themselves from the resentment for a moment.’
The couple's interrogation is currently ongoing, with previous sessions lasting more than 10 hours.
