Syringe in bottle contained traces of chloroform

I am not thinking AT ALL that she would inject it...it really is not used that way....even when Chloroform was used for anesthesia in the old days..it was through a mask, inhaled. Never heard of injecting Chloroform.

Yes, me neither. Maybe she thought it would work faster that way...?

I'm pretty sure it was in the "World of Disney" bag that was close by Caylee's remains.

Could that be part of KC trying to set up the scene to further the Imaginanny Scenario? I mean, she did tell numerous people during the 31 days that the nanny was taking Caylee to the various theme parks and such, JMO.

This is the exact type of syringe my vet gave me when I had to give my dogs shots of Vitamin K due to eating D-Con. He said they always give them out for liquid medicine for animals. Maybe check the Yorkies med history?

I don't think I've ever heard of injecting chloroform. But I could see using a needle to dose out presice dosage on a rag or something without gassing yourself. Without the needle I would think too much air could get inside the syrenge and evaporate.

SuziQ,

Before this case, I had never heard of anyone using chloroform in ANY way. Injecting, or inhaling, etc. I thought it was only in the movies! Yikes!

So, this IS used???? For what???? I can't imagine anyone needing this in today's day and age, for anything other than bad.

Kenosha's theory of a male that may have had an rx for testosterone injections seems very reasonable.. (NOT uncommon at all) Often it is prescribed for males with low testosterone levels due to increased prostate cancer risks, among other related problems. The ethanol in the syringe could have been from the testosterone as a drug stabilizer OR an ingredient in the production of Chloroform. The syringe was capped and had a needle. The needle comes off in the cap when you unscrew it from the syringe.. She could have made Chloroform from a recipe she found online (wasn't one of the ingredients we saw was alcohol..not rubbing alcohol but the type you buy at a hardware store?-which would be a reason for the Ethanol component, I believe water (ICE) was also an ingredient)also can be made with Acetone....She steals the syringe from the home...uses it to draw up the Chloroform she made with needle on the syringe, recaps it and stores it in the syringe. It doesn't mean she injected it into Caylee.. the needle is just stored in the cap when you twist off the cap. If you pull off the cap...the needle stays on the syringe. She could squirt the liquid out onto a rag or whatever she used. It isn't a big syringe...looks like a 3cc...I would have to find the pic and look again.. How much Chloroform is needed to knock someone out on a rag I wonder.
Wiki
Inadvertent synthesis of chloroform... (OR MADE ON PURPOSE)
The haloform reaction can also occur inadvertently in domestic settings. Sodium hypochlorite solution (chlorine bleach) mixed with common household liquids such as acetone, butanone, ethanol, or isopropyl alcohol may produce some chloroform, in addition to other compounds such as chloroacetone, or dichloroacetone.

HEEEYYYYYYY - what if the chloroform was squirted onto a rag and DUCT TAPED to Caylee's mouth and nose?

Storing it in the bottle makes sense. Some may also have leaked into the trunk.

my thoughts exactly! maybe she was in a hurry and didn't screw the top back on the gatorade bottle all the way and a bunch of it leaked out into the trunk.

Can anyone provide a link to the docs that specifically discusses today's findings for the syringe? I'm going nuts and think I've missed it. Thanks! :)

Well, here's one guess - men who have low testosterone can supplement in cream form or via injection. The latter comes in a small vial and is administered via a disposable syringe on a monthly basis. I would think that if some male in the household had an Rx for this, CA being a nurse could administer it. My hubby used to use the injectable form and his needle looked *exactly* like this one.

Reuse syringe, still has traces of testosterone in it (which is a viscous liquid).

My husband, is in his 50's and gets a monthly testosterone shot because he thinks his male urges might decrease. Plus he says it keeps muscles young. To save money and time at the drs., I give him the shots in his buttock cheeks. Our dr. suggested it and a nurse at his office showed me how.

George is my husband's age. And Cindy is actually a nurse. So I could see George wanting the shots for the same reason my husband does and Cindy giving George the shots. It isn't the kind of injection you can give yourself because the testosterone is thick and goes in slow.

Anyway, that is one explanation for how there could have been a used injection vial with remnants of testosterone where KC could get it. My 50+ husband swears by it.

I'm thinking it is the one that was in the Disney Bag. Could be wrong, but I will check it out.

I believe the gatorade bottle was in the disney bag near the skull. I remember writing it down.

BeanE,

This is me thinking out loud here. But I was curious, was it ever discussed and determined what all the tiny pinholes IN the duct tape were? I know to me, at the time they looked like staple marks. I think someone mentioned some type of tool maybe used to handle the duct tape during testing.
However, I am really curious now that we know there was a "needle" syringe found with her body.
Good Geez, just typing this makes me nauseated.

If she squirted the chloroform in Caylee's mouth with a needle poked through the duct tape, wouldn't there be tape glue residue left on the needle?

And a 3cc syringe (wouldn't need a larger one for the amount of med) with a 22-23 gauge needle would be used for an intramuscular injection.. I have to go back and find the pic.. but I know it was a 3cc.. and read someone elses post that said it was a 23 gauge needle.. I didn't look that close.. Anyone have the pic handy?

Ok, we have multiple scenarios:
1. Given orally - if she removed the needle sharp
2. Injected - not in vein
3. Injected - intravenous

Lots to think about and research there.

I can't see Casey taking the time to find a vein in Caylee's poor little, tiny arm, can you?

Or, not connected to the case at all. We still do not know for sure.
Not trying to be a party pooper but there's lots of jumping to conclusions here.

You can walk into any "Farm Supply" in my area and buy needles. They are used for administering meds to horses, dogs, etc. No questions asked.

You can also get large needles for piercing supplies. My stepdaughter does piercings for her family and friends. She did a great job on my DD's eyebrow.
