How come I get the impression if this guy had raped a woman or shot someone, the team/owners would be 100% behind him and finding some reason for him to still play while out on bail and awaiting trial? The prioroties in sports culture are astounding. :mad:

I could be wrong but I don't get the feeling that Andy Reid would tolerate that kind of behavior. Regardless, you're completely right about the priorities in sports culture being ridiculous. Don't even get me started on the NBA. :rolleyes:

wow, wonder why he's selling his homes?? Not making enough money for the upkeep?? :rolleyes: I'm happy with one house, must be nice to have 2 or 3 or so ...

We had this kind of action going on with the Portland Trailblazers the past couple of years. We were used to having a team with class, and then Paul Allen (the other half of Microsoft) started pulling in players with rap sheets a mile long and those with drug, drinking and abusive behavior problems. The result? We started (along with most across the country!) calling them the Jailblazers and quit buying tickets. They did not represent us, and they really weren't winning any games either. The largest payroll in the NBA with the least to show for it...

Now they have done a total clean-out of the organization and are having to fight tooth and nail to get back a fan base again. We will see....I am still not sold on the franchise and basically don't care anymore!

The St. Louis Rams have a guy on the team who was drunk driving and killed a woman in a crash... right here in the same city!!
Imagine how her family feels seeing him right here in the same city, playing football every Sunday like it's nobody's business.

Then a few years later, he gets caught driving while intoxicated AGAIN.
Luckily he didn't kill anyone this time.

I don't understand it myself.
Why does the team keep him? Because he's good?
A lot of people are good.

Amazing. Totally amazing. I really think the let them get away with murder (and in the case you cite this is literally true) mentality starts with high school sports--our star players in my school could do anything and the coaches, principals etc would bail them out in time for the next game. Interesting that those same star football players are now cops on that same hometown force. But I digress. I really think that these star athletes think they don't have to live by the same rules the rest of us do due to all the fawning over them, cleaning up their nasty little messes etc in order that they can play the next game. It's absolutely unbelieveable that the football player you cite was allowed to continue on as if nothing had happened. Makes me just sick.

I don't begrudge him anything he has acquired through his hard work as an athlete (my son gave me a very detailed accounting last night of TO's playing abilities and dedication to being as good an athlete as possible) - that said, part of his contract, in my opinion, is to be a good teammate. And, he has failed miserably at that. IMO

No kidding!! Last week we pulled our kids out of school for a family trip to Hawaii. It was a 3 day school week because of Veterans day and a teacher work day. One of my daughters teachers gave her a ton of grief about missing his class for 2 days...she was going to be so behind, no way could she make up missed learning etc. The guy is the high school basketball coach and at open house last month he told us during basketball season he would be having substitutes occasionally as he was taking the team out for a couple of tournaments. :doh:

He certainly got an email from me stating
1. My daughter did not have a choice when we chose the dates for the trip.
Do not give her a rough time...tell us, her parents
2. I am sure he has a plan for students that will be missing classes like the football team going to state playoffs, and his basketball team in the future.

He finally told her it would be okay, and to have a good trip.... :slap:

Athletes are overpaid in my opinion ... I think Michael Jordan has earned his pay. He does extra work off the court and has earned money for endorsements and more.

Practice is work, yes, and players should get paid well for their talents.
But some of the salaries are quite ridiculous. But that's just my opinion.

There are teachers, doctors, firefighters and more who I think work hard too, and won't ever make what they deserve.

So, please pardon me if I do slightly begrudge him...
Running with a football from one end of a field to the other may be a talent but it certainly doesn't do much for society, especially with that attitude on and off the field.

Not a problem if you begrudge him what he makes! We're all entitled to our opinions! :)

They need to change his nick from TO to BO; he creates an obnoxious odor wherever he goes, or with whatever team he plays on. Enough is enough, and I think just about everyone has had their fill of TO.
