I have a Tracfone because I use a cell phone very infrequently and don't want to have a monthly plan. I bought the phone on Ebay and then activated it on Tracfone and just buy minutes when I need them. But I do have to give a credit card and address that matches the credit card billing, so not sure how anonymous it really is. There may be other ways to buy minutes but my phone is old and does not have a card or anything that can have minutes added to it elsewhere. Terri may not have a credit card in her own name that she has access to any longer and I suppose it is possible a friend would get a phone for her and add minutes as needed.
I'm not sure if this is all indicative of guilt concerning Kyron. I think Terri would be pretty desperate at this point to have contact with anyone who is still willing to speak to her. She can't have much to do, locked away whereever she is.
In any case, patience. Time will tell. Or at least I hope it will. I just don't want to see all of these little oddities, which granted, add up to lots of suspicious behavior, detract LE from pursuing other possibilities.
Just wanted to add to this post aboe that unfortunately it is possible to purchase, activate, purchase minutes, and activate the minutes to the phone all without a credit card or any "identifiable" info being given...
We decided that for our son this pre paid type cell phone would be the appropriate way to allow him to have his first cell phone and NOT just add him to our ATT fam plan that my husband and I share(definitely later down the road we will[he's only 12 now] but felt this pre paid route would be plenty for now, as also WE buy him an allotted amount of mins per month[for calls&texts]but IF he chooses to use them up quickly then HE is responsible to purchase the mins for the remainder of that month)
All of that said when I bought him the phone at Target I happened to pay cash for both the phone and the start up 400 mins.(so I know that was untraceable) I then had the option to either "set-up" the phone via the internet OR via another phone(any phone besides the phone I was setting up be it land line or cell) It does ask you for name, address, and zip code but am fuuly sure that this could be easily, easily falsified as there is no "verifying" of any of the info given. Once set up, each month when we purchase the mins(from anywhere Kroger, Walgreens, Target, even some gas stations sell the refiil cards). So the refill card, too could be purchased with cash(again untraceable) and then once again you have an option to refill the mins via internet OR FROM THE ACTUAL PHONE(once the initial set up is done from another phone, after that each refill can be done from the actual phone itself) all done by simply calling the 800# on back of refill card and following the automated prompts entering the new refill mins sku # and waa-laa you've got your whole new months worth of mins added to your cell phone..
ONCE AGAIN ALL DONE COMPLETELY UNTRACEABLE...
So, if this is the case of what type phone Terri is now using this is the ONE way that I would be worried that she COULD indeed be hiding communications COMPLETELY from LE....
Does anyone know of what way LE would go about getting records for such type of seemingly untraceable type of cell phone??
TIA to anyone who knows?
