GUILTY Thailand - David Miller, 24, & Hannah Witheridge, 23, Koh Tao, 15 Sep 2014

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2762055/Thai-divers-hunt-missing-murder-weapon-tourists-flock-spot-British-duo-murdered.html

Police today also began searching for a second weapon involved in the murders, after autopsies revealed Mr Miller was bludgeoned with a metal bar, and not the garden hoe used to kill Miss Witheridge.

This is what I found particularly interesting from the link ajc748 posted was that different weapons are thought to have killed David and Hannah. So the autopsies indicate Hannah was killed by the hoe and David was attacked with a metal bar (which has not been discovered) and also had water in his lungs. "While the blood on the hoe was from Miss Witheridge, it is believed Mr Miller was bludgeoned with a piece of metal, rendering him unconscious before he drowned at the water’s edge as the tide came in."

Clear CCTV of David walking alone down a street, and later walking back down the street with a group of people in the hours before he was killed. http://news.sky.com/story/1338593/thailand-cctv-of-british-man-killed-on-beach

" Despite the slow start to the investigation, Lt Gen Panya Mamen insisted he was confident the attackers will be caught.

"There is a lot of evidential information that we cannot reveal to the media right now," he told the Phuket Gazette, while confirming the police search was being expanded to islands around Koh Tao".

It is unfathomable that someone could do this to two innocent young people. The perpetrators must be caught and be brought to justice. Death would be too good for them, life behind bars sounds better but that is not the point, disgusting excuse for human beings. Evil walks among us, we must find what is good and just in our world. I am absolutely delighted they have requested the help from the FBI. Think it is the best move they have made so far.

Rest in peace to Hannah and David.

That's even more heartbreaking. He could have been saved if he had been found before the tide came.

Who did find them? I don't think that has been released has it?

That's a good question. I haven't read any article that answers that question

That was in the first online reports:
"Their bodies were discovered by cleaners at around 6.30am on Monday"

ETA: David was not hit by a pole, he was hit by a sharp weapon similar to that used on Hannah.
Anyone who has seen the close up crime scene photos of David's head can confirm that.
That's a sharp object similar to a hoe doing that..
I will not describe the photos, but only an object with a sharp edge can do that.

I have to say I spend a lot of time on the internet reading about cases like this and viewing crime scene photographs; these two are by far the worst one's i've EVER viewed and it made me physically sick. i would love to think that her parents didn't see the state in which she was found in but I'm sure they have. Her entire face/eyes are totally gone. I hope they find out and are able to give some sort of closure to them. I am very curious about how exactly it happened since David's wounds were all to the back of his head.

rip hannah and david. :(:ouch:

We don't actually know for certain that they went to that beach together, do we? CCTV now showing David on his own walking towards it. Could it be possible Hannah had made her own way back home and was getting attacked, as David went by he heard shouts and went to help?

I suppose D & H's friends will have already given their story about where each of them was and with whom. Really glad the FBI are involved, hopefully things will get done properly now.

One another point. I spent a couple of months in Thailand, visited most of the islands (though not Koh Tao) and never felt unsafe or threatened. The police have said they have no idea whether the killer is still on the island - I for one would not be entirely comfortable knowing there's a total maniac on the loose (I've seen the pics, this was a crazed, gory, killing). I wonder how much life is going along as normal there right now?

Royal Thai Police commissioner revealed Saturday that latest DNA examination has now confirmed Asian suspects responsible for the rape and murder of the English tourist in Koh Tao.

Pol Gen Somyot Phunphanmuang disclosed the latest test of DNA samples collected from semen found inside the body of Ms Hannah Witheridge, 23, showed they belonged to Mongoloid people or Asians.

As stated above there isn't really anything pointing to Hannah and David being together that night.

Im swaying more towards Hannah being on the beach with someone she had become friendly with during her short stay, sharing a cig when things went wrong and David stumbled across the intial attack l, tried to intervene and in doing so was attacked himself.

I wonder if the person she shared a cig with is the perpetrator (or one of them) or an innocent witness who is too afraid to come forward

So we have 3 different DNA. We know that 2 are from Asian men, but have they revealed if the DNA from the cigarette butt is from a female? I noticed in that article that there are females lined up for DNA samples.

I'm wondering if a female set up Hannah. They were sharing a cigarette on the beach when Hannah was attacked and David happened upon it and was struck in the back of the head. I saw those awful crime scene photos and David's wounds are in the back of his head. Poor Hannah :( someone raged on her and then further disrespected her by posing her in that way.

New reports are stating 2 sets of DNA on cigarette. One Hannahs and one Asian or Mongoloid male

So. We have Hannah apparently sharing a cigarette with an unknown Asian man on the beach. We have David seen alone on CCTV heading in that direction (probably on way back to his accom). It has always been reported that they had left the bar together but was that just an assumption?

Just thought re the cigarette - if someone had been kissing Hannah and had a cigarette afterwards could her DNA (from saliva) got onto the cig? Do we know if she was a smoker?

Confusing :waitasec: Why are they getting DNA samples from females? Where did they find a female DNA in relation to the crime?

So now we have DNA from 3 different Asian males AND possible DNA from a female?

So 4 possible perps? Poor Hannah and David didn't stand a chance :(

I think the reports of Hannah and David leaving a bar together was based on that CCTV showing a couple walking hand in hand (but the female clearly had dark hair and the man's clothes don't match what David was wearing that night).
It was also reported that both Hannah and David attended a beach party on the night of the murders, but all of the information about that night seems to be speculation rather than fact. We've not been told much at all about who David and Hannah were each with in the hours before their deaths, what they were doing, or how they came to walk back to the hotel alone or with each other. The police must know this, I wonder why they've not released any information about it.

That's a great point about the possible transferal of DNA from saliva on the cigarette. I just had a quick look through some of Hannah's and a few of her friend's FB photos which she was in and I didn't come accross any where Hannah was smoking. Of course that doesn't prove she wasn't a smoker. I read an article which stated that the cigarette was a cheap brand found on the island and is bought mainly by people who live on the island rather than tourists.
