If you look at the comments on the Mail article on his remarks, there are well over 6K contributors who are 95% irate that he thinks things are not as bad in the UK as media has made them out to be. Very many along the lines of - he should stick to riding around in his Porsche delivering sandwiches and stay away from commenting about the catastrophic effects of Covid19 in Britain.
Very angry and resentful at his interference.

Question about Harry's status in the US - can he live there long term because he is married to a US citizen? My niece married someone that lived in the US and it took them a few years to get it all sorted out. Just curious what his status is there?

He can apply for "Legal Permanent Resident" card, based on family status, being married to a United States citizen. After three years of being an LPR, he can file for citizenship.

Harry and Meghan cut all ties with four British tabloids over their reporting and 'lies'

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are now living in Los Angeles, have sent a letter to the editors of The Sun, The Mail, The Mirror and the Express to make clear that they will no longer engage with them.

“There will be no corroboration and zero engagement”, they say in their letter.

The new policy from the couple will start with immediate effect and comes as Meghan’s legal fight with the Mail on Sunday’s owner’s Associated Press enters a new phase in the British courts this week."

Anyone else find it a bit odd that they sent a letter? They had said they were only collaborating with those they chose when they said no more royal rota back in January.
Like why not just tell them this is the new policy when they try and engage or inquire? I don't understand why it has to be another letter/statement released to all the media

It says in the article that they'll still be cooperating with the Telegraph, Times, Guardian and Financial Times but Rupert Murdoch owns the Times and the Sun so surely the Times will just start doing the Suns dirty work? Or maybe they're more separate than that

Anyone else think it was sent tonight and released to other media so it would make the Monday morning papers?
I bet the same people who tried to tell the Queen she didn't have the right to call things Royal are advising them on this statement.
It sounds very churlish and will make no difference to anyone.. They will still be reported on and they will still scrutinise their activities and call them out for hypocrisy.
PH and MM just want to control the narrative.
Only stories that paint them in a positive light allowed.

If PH and MM want to control the narrative they are going about it badly. They should be able to determine if they sound churlish and irrelevant as well as have an awareness that their tactics don’t work.

I believe there is a different reason for releasing the statement though I can’t say what it could be.

Do you want PH and MM to offer themselves up as ‘currency for an economy of clickbait and distortion’? I favor their advocacy for honesty in journalism.

If you look at the stories that they have judged to be fake or unfair and have taken to the press ombudsman, a neutral arbiter has not agreed that the reporting was unfair so I'm not sure that they are advocating for honesty. I think that they're putting other publications again on notice that positive press is what they want.

The Suns royal reporter has said that one of the people selling the stories about them to the tabloids is the reporter Omid Scobie who a lot of people on twitter have said in the past is a mouthpiece for the Sussexes

Prince Philip releases incredibly rare statement during COVID-19 crisis
The Duke of Edinburgh is residing with the Queen in Windsor

The Duke of Edinburgh has issued a rare statement during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, thanking those working in the medical and scientific professions during the crisis.

Prince Philip, 98, said: "As we approach World Immunisation Week, I wanted to recognise the vital and urgent work being done by so many to tackle the pandemic; by those in the medical and scientific professions, at universities and research institutions, all united in working to protect us from Covid-19.

"On behalf of those of us who remain safe and at home, I also wanted to thank all key workers who ensure the infrastructure of our life continues; the staff and volunteers working in food production and distribution, those keeping postal and delivery services going, and those ensuring the rubbish continues to be collected."

Because of the court case coming up the texts that H&M sent Thomas before the wedding have been released. It all seems quite reasonable although sad that they never seem to have actually talked, I wonder if this could have been resolved if they had gotten on the phone together at some point

Other parts of their case state that:

— Meghan did not organise or authorise her friends to refer to the letter in People magazine or speak to them.

— Meghan’s friends spoke to People as they were concerned about the negative impact of the media campaign against her. She was distressed when she discovered reference to the letter had been made.

— She did not know or believe Thomas would ever share the letter with the media.

— The paper’s report that Thomas tried to contact Meghan by phone and text after the wedding are not true. Other than a missed call at 4:57am on May 19, 2018, Meghan did not receive any text messages or further missed calls from her father.

If only she took more guidance from the palace then they wouldnt be where they are today. The suits behind the scenes can and will protect. Given her dad's track record, she made a foolish mistake and it was a costly one in re to mental well being. JMO

PR disaster and what makes them think they are above everyone else? Royals from other countries go about life just fine with out all this drama while living in another country. They should have a zoom mtg with Princess Madeline from Sweden who lives in the US. MOOOO

Editors accuse Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of censorship | Daily Mail Online
So self absorbed and self important. Can you imagine if Andrew or Camilla had issued a statement like this? Both have had much worse press over the years.

Meghan and Harry cut off four British tabloids - CNN

Okay. I am perfectly fine with Meghan and Harry living a quiet life in complete anonymous oblivion. We won't have to hear about them ever again. That is what they crave. Let's let them have it. Respect their wishes to not be associated with the Royal family. They should have their own thread here at WS. And be completely severed, on their own.

It is relevant to this thread and I enjoy using the ignore feature so I dont have to see posts I don't agree with.

Dan from the Sun has been talking about this today. They want the media to be silenced because they dont want the truth to be told. They are using their roles as a leverage to stop the media. Epic fail for H and Ms part. Their side is showing a few texts from H but the mail has the whole convo from Mr Markle and it contradicts H. JMO
