Dan from the Sun has been talking about this today. They want the media to be silenced because they dont want the truth to be told. They are using their roles as a leverage to stop the media. Epic fail for H and Ms part. Their side is showing a few texts from H but the mail has the whole convo from Mr Markle and it contradicts H. JMO
I seem to remember a lengthy interview with the journo that Mr Markle sold his photos to, where he showed him the multitude of messages and unanswered phone calls he made to MM before the wedding. It is going to get messy.

Meghan and Harry cut off four British tabloids - CNN

Okay. I am perfectly fine with Meghan and Harry living a quiet life in complete anonymous oblivion. We won't have to hear about them ever again. That is what they crave. Let's let them have it. Respect their wishes to not be associated with the Royal family. They should have their own thread here at WS. And be completely severed, on their own.
Problem is, as long as they continue to use their titles ( in that press letter they used their titles 7 times so they obviously feel themselves Royals and want to be addressed as such) they are by association still linked with the Royal family and so their actions will be scrutinized whether they consent or not.

Two very important birthdays this week. April 21st is The Queen's 94th birthday and April 23rd will be Prince Louis' 2nd birthday.
I am sure we will see some lovely photos of both.

in that press letter they used their titles 7 times

Was just reading that Barack Obama was featured in a documentary about Michael Jordan and the identifier under his name wasn't "Former President" it was "Former Chicago resident"

OMG. The UK has one of the highest death rates in the world--double that of the US. WTH is he thinking?

Not true.
The US tests poorly people who ask for one
The UK tests only hospital admissions
The statistics are not comparable.

So self absorbed and self important. Can you imagine if Andrew or Camilla had issued a statement like this? Both have had much worse press over the years.

LOL. None of the rest of the royal family give interviews to the British tabloids and it's also worth noting once again that several members of the royal family have also sued the tabloids, including Princess Diana and Prince William.

Tabloids are not newspapers, sources are not researched, they pay people to provide information and not that long ago, someone came forward to share his story about the tabloids offering him a large sum of money, just to lie and claim he slept with MM.

Simon Rex Offered $70,000 to Lie About Meghan Markle Relationship

I offer a summary of some of those who's phones have been hacked by tabloids, which also include members of the royal family:

List of news media phone hacking scandal victims - Wikipedia

Can you provide any compelling reason the world needs dishonest journalism?

Whilst I normally agree with you, sadly the test rate is irrelevant to who and how many have it on the death certificate and our statistics are almost double the US death rate

Having only read the bbc article about the texts that have been released today- the texts from them appear rude and Harry’s in particular are bossy and inappropriate for a future father in law. I would like to say more in line with how a boss would speak to someone way down the pecking order- but in all honesty they would be dragged through the courts for being unprofessional. So on both a personal and professional level his texts IMO were inappropriate. It smacks of a sense of entitlement that I didn’t think any of our royal family would express and in all honesty I’m disappointed and embarrassed. Like I said I only read the texts that the BBC have printed and it is just my opinion- but I am surprised and if I cared to have an opinion on them it would have just gone downhill.

Prince Charles shows off Welsh skills as he virtually opens hospital in Cardiff

Prince Charles delighted royal fans after opening Ysbyty Calon Y Ddraig, Dragon's Heart Hospital, a temporary coronavirus hospital located at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, on Monday afternoon. The future King opened the building via a video message to abide by the current social distancing rules, and even showcased his language skills by speaking in some parts in Welsh. In the footage, the Prince of Wales began the speech with: "Boneddigion a Boneddigesau," translating to ladies and gentlemen. Charles then continued in English: "First Minister, Minister, Ladies and Gentleman, I am delighted to be able to join you today, through these electronic means, to mark the opening of Ysbyty Calon Y Ddraig."

He also used the term "diolch o galon," meaning heartfelt thanks, to express his gratitude to everyone involved with creating Calon Y Ddraig. Charles said: "In a facility named, so evocatively and so appropriately, Calon Y Ddraig, what can I say except 'diolch o galon', and express the warmest possible thanks for what you have done, and all that you will do in this hospital, and all those other field hospitals, across Wales, where buildings have been transformed as part of the immense effort to combat the dreadful threat we face." The Queen's son then added: "Llongyfarchiadau ichi i gyd," meaning congratulations to you all.

Charles went on to show his appreciation for the efforts in the fast turn-around of the hospital. "Ladies and gentlemen, today we mark one of the most remarkable transformations that have been achieved – namely turning Wales’s national stadium – one might almost say its national shrine – into this giant temporary field hospital. This, and all the other field hospitals across Wales, are an achievement of which we are all immensely proud. Through your extraordinary efforts, this stadium, so long a place of who-wyl, has now become a place of healing." He then officially opened it: "Now, I am rather too far away to do this personally, but I know that the time has now come for the unveiling of the plaque to declare Ysbyty Calon Y Ddraig open."

Was just reading people magazines reporting of this and they report what is said but don't confirm it

"The Mail on Sunday says that Thomas revealed the contents of the letter after a friend had told PEOPLE of its existence. Meghan’s new statement says she did not authorize her friends to speak to PEOPLE. The legal papers add that if she had authorized the interviews, she would have told her friends not to talk about the letter and its contents."

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Private Texts to Her Father Disclosed in New Legal Documents

Was thinking about it (have far too much time with quarantine) and was wondering given all the stuff that is said about people magazine like how deferential they are to celebrities and publicists.

Did they not do the basic thing and call Meghan's publicists to give them a heads up that this was coming out and the content like every publication seems to do and couldn't the friend who said about the letter have asked for it to be removed before it went to print.

They say in one of the court filings that one of the 5 is good friends with the people magazine editor and it was that friends idea to do this story so presumably had some sway and could have gotten something potentially bad like the reference to the letter removed.

I would absolutely hate if I was in her position and couldn't trust my friends not to reveal personal information about me and I actually feel sorry for her that she can't trust her friends. I don't think I've ever heard another close friend of a RF member speak to the press so openly, I think it really speaks to their loyalty

Hmmm. Does that mean the breach of copyright was really by the friends revealing the contents first, or does it have to be the entity that published it?

It has to be the actual content just like I could talk about a story without breaching its copyright but couldn't reproduce it in its entirety only small snippets (I think what the DM reproduced would be too long and fall outside fair use)

The friend in question is JM. She has done guest editing for people mag b4 and has requested more favorable content for M when being covered. .. M is simply doing damage control for herself and unfortunately royal or not, no one can control a future court verdict. MOO
