I thought it disingenuous and actually disrespectful to Diana's legacy that MM claimed she didn't know anything about the tabloids, or that life would be "this difficult" as a royal. Considering the life Diana was left to lead, and ultimately leading to her death, how exactly does MM NOT know? SMDH. The more I see and hear her, the more sickened I am by her. I'm becoming ashamed of Harry. I understand he doesn't want this life, and was born into it. But they both have A LOT of growing up to do, they have a duty and it's time they accept it.

This is a really good point, re: Diana. MM knew. She's just a flat out liar IMO.

@gregjrichards and @Lilibet

I apologize for ruining this most wonderful thread.

I just cannot standby and let this woman MM speak badly of the royal family and especially William and Catherine. They are such a wonderful family.

The royal family did everything possible to please MM and its just not enough.

MOO... And I'll move into another thread til this dies down. My hope is Charles will intervene and cut the money supply that's supplying her nasty comments.

I wonder if all of this is to take focus off of Andrew. Now there is something to be thinking about.

Rather all eyes are on Harry and Meghan. Rather a brilliant strategy.

The King and Queen of Bhutan win a special prize for most splendid authentic outfits. ! I am swooning over these two:

Very interesting take, and very brilliant strategy indeed. Although I still think MM is exactly how she is portraying herself, "Poor" Andrew does need something to keep suspecting eyes off of him. Let him use her as his pawn. Ha.

Tiaras, tiaras, tiaras

Here is Japanese Empress Masako wearing the historic Meji tiara of 1885

And more; one for you and one for you and one for you:

However, Camilla should have gone to Japan and shown off some more of the Crown Jewels with this crew. Even if she is afraid of flying, she should have been sedated and made to go. Not a good showing, Charles.

And the USA? Hopeless. Mrs. Mitch McConnell ( who is Chinese) shows up to represent us? Not even Melania?

I've always thought that was a massive dig at the royals not helping her adjust to royal life and letting PC carry on with Camilla behind her back. There are similarities with M clearly not adjusting well.

There's such a big difference between the two situations, IMO. Diana was a young woman who found out soon after the wedding that she was in a loveless marriage with a husband who cheated on her with his mistress. She didn't receive much support or comfort from the family during that time.

After that disastrous marriage and her untimely death, the family seemed to try much harder to make things easier for the new spouses of the grandchildren. The whole family went out of their way to welcome MM, Charles even walking her down the aisle at the wedding. They seemed to try very hard, continuing to do so even after things took a turn for the worse. They've tried very hard to help MM with her adjustment to royal life. It appears those efforts haven't been reciprocated.

The focus IS on Andrew. The British press have reported on Andrew's connections with Epstein for years and they continue to do so. It's in the newspapers almost every day, a documentary aired on Channel 4 a few nights ago.

IMO this is another tactic of Meghan's PR; to paint the British press and public as the baddies who would rather accept a paedophile than a mixed race American woman. Meghan and Harry are in the news cycle more often simply because they keep doing and saying things that are creating a story. Every time PA has been seen in public it has been reported on, every time one of the women has spoken out it has been reported on, there are new stories in the press today.

Yes, I am too. The ceremonial pictures are breathtaking. And these two are so beautiful.

Even if she could claim not to know about Diana and the tabloids, she posed with a tabloid magazine in 2014 which claimed that KM was expecting twins which obviously was made up. Moreover the article says she contributed to the issue of that magazine, obviously she didn't have editorial control but I don't think you can claim to have no idea about the tabloids while writing pieces for them

The article that photo was in quotes from her blog "Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate."

The British press have reported on Andrew's connections with Epstein for years and they continue to do so.

They're the ones who exposed that he was still friends with Epstein after his jail sentence which got old Airmiles Andy removed as trade envoy. I don't think they treat him with any particular deference and I imagine report whatever they can about him. Unlike Harry I've never felt like the papers have had any particular affection for Andrew

the title of the thread includes news and views - both of which many members are sharing in this thread IMO. Harry is certainly making news - and most of us involved in this particular forum have a viewpoint regarding the royals IMO.

Yes, exactly. It's harder to have a discussion about PA as it is a much more sensitive subject. The H and M news is tabloid fodder, it's not that important, but with PA there are victims to consider and possible legal proceedings that could be jeopardised. There is a thread on here about JE which hasn't shied away from the PA connection.

I don't know anyone who has any affection at all for PA and the media certainly don't. He's one of the aforementioned Royal Hangers-on, it would be easy to cut him loose from the Royal Family, I doubt anyone would miss him. Not so easy for the Queen of course, she is his mother after all and it must be taking an incredible toll on her and his daughters. I wonder if anyone has asked if they are okay?!

I've said it a million times but Meghan hasn't been treated any differently by the press than anyone else. If anything, they have both been treated very kindly. There are many indiscretions of Harry's that haven't been widely reported on when they could have been, if anything they have been swept under the rug. William's too of course, but he's not the one complaining so we can safely assume he is grateful for it.

This angle of Meghan being PA's sacrifical lamb is so far off the mark.

I've always tried not to go in hard on Meghan but unfortunately my sympathy well that might have been full a few days ago, is starting to run rather dry. We were beside ourselves when they got engaged, we lined the streets waving our Union Jacks and our Stars and Stripes, everyone bent over backwards to welcome her but apparently it wasn't good enough.

The more they fuss, the worse it will get. They need to take a break, laugh about it, and move on...and to get there they need to deal with their inner struggles in private. <snipped>

I say that as an affectionate and somewhat wise old grandma. :D

This! Thank you, wise old grandma :)

My 2nd favourite Queen in there - Maxima of the Netherlands. Now there's a royal who likes to let her hair down!

Respectfully.. Not sure she was a B list actress. She left the US because folks knew she was trouble. She couldn't make a career on the US even with the help of her father and his friends.

Once her fathers money ran out, she ditched him. He paid for private school and she lived with TM while in worked in TV. He took her to the set, introduced her to celebrities.

MOO, she's a social climber, ditched her father, ditched her family, ditched her friends, ditched her first husband, and ditched her country.

I hope she stays in the UK, she's to high maintenance and way to expensive. Being British royalty, we are required to provide her security. I resent my US tax payer dollar being spent on her.

MOO...

BBM Noooo. Please have her back ;)
