I've paid for a homeless person to have a Christmas dinner at a local shelter this year in lieu of sending loads of cards, though I have posted two to my elderly godparents because... tradition and oldness!

I gathered up all my left over Christmas cards and wrapping paper from previous years and will use it all up instead of buying more. I'll give a few cards out to people I'll actually see. It's all going to be a bit mismatched (which I'm not keen on!) but we can't continue littering up the world.

Princess Beatrice gets her wedding date at last: Big day penciled in for early June (but it mustn't clash with the racing-obsessed Queen's beloved Ascot)

After a tough few weeks for Princess Beatrice, I gather there is at last some happy news for the young Royal as the Queen has finally agreed to let her announce a wedding date – albeit one that doesn’t interrupt Royal Ascot.

Her Majesty says that Beatrice and her fiance Edo Mapelli Mozzi can reveal details about their big day in the New Year.

I’m told we can expect the ceremony to be in early June, as the racing-obsessed Monarch has stipulated the date must not interrupt her favourite meeting, which next year starts on June 16.

A source close to the couple said: ‘Bea and Edo will finally announce their wedding date in the second week of January. The date has been described as “early summer”, just before the summer social season kicks off.’

that is great! Doing what one can. You have inspired me and I think Harry and Meghan will inspire those of greater means to do more positive with their great wealth.

It’s very sweet, and, but I wonder why there isn’t more positive press?

Because, the pounding of celebrity “you should” with the great wealth or otherwise is a sham?

Purity inspiration great wealth is not inspiring or happening.

Sorry, anyone who has amassed wealth has done so via many means. Over decades.

I am glad Meghan and Harry are going to California for Christmas. It will be so much warmer, sunnier, and nicer. Rather than another "command performance" at Sandringham. Grey, cold, formal, rules, traditions....

Well, they have a small child now and very much aging great-grandparents who might not be in next year's Christmas pictures. And engaging with Prince Charles and Camilla sounds like fun. I think he'd be hilarious after a couple of tipples. It doesn't sound at all like this is "grey, cold, formal, rules, traditions". If anything, it has the warmth and personality of The Queen and Prince Philip. They both come off as having a rather modest style having come of age in WWII and both serving in the military, seeing their nation in great hardship and danger, respectful of their duties to the public.

I thought everyone got together with family for Christmas, as it is a religious and family time, then went on their sunny warm holidays after the New Year.

It seems to me, IMHO, that Megan is still early enough in her relationships with the Royal Family that she still needs to be there for these large private gatherings to respect and participate with these people. And bring Doria with her for support!

And, I think they are nuts having Archie miss out on this holiday at Sandringham.

At 6pm precisely the royals are called into Sandringham's drawing room, where they have a 'holy evening' of gift giving and view the gifts as the 'jokier the better', the documentary revealed.

Over the years, the Queen has received a 'Big Mouth Billie Bass' the comical singing fish that hangs on walls, as well as a washing up apron as gifts from her family.

IMHO, she has all the time in the world to spend sunny SoCal days with her friends and family, and they would all understand if she chose to stay in UK for the holiday.

I think having a Christmas at Sandringham with the collective Royal Family is a privilege and honor that few other people on earth get to have. I'd not want to miss out on any time for me and my son with them all.

But that's just how I see it, knowing nothing at all about their marriage and their plans.

I am glad the young royals are finding out about people who are much less fortunate than they are. It must be difficult to explain to them about homelessness given the circumstances and surroundings they are growing up in.

Thank you for donating to help a homeless person have a Christmas dinner @CoverMeCagney I just can’t enjoy Christmas without helping people and animals in need where I live it doesn’t feel right. I know not everyone can help but if anyone can even some spare change makes a difference where you live.

A member of Prince Charles' hospitality staff has offered a regal opinion on the ongoing debate on whether tea or milk should come first when enjoying a brew. It appears the Prince of Wales has a strong opinion on what makes the perfect cuppa, with the 71-year-old royal apparently giving staff at Dumfries House, in Scotland, strict instructions when preparing his hot beverages.

Hospitality manager at the 2,000-acre stately home, Evan Samson, 27, told The Times, that while sugar or organic honey can be added before you pour - milk should only ever be added last before taking out the teabag.

Samson's is the latest voice in the 'milk or tea first' argument, which hit the headlines again last month when Boris Johnson sparked fury on social media for pouring milk into his tea first - and then keeping the teabag in the cup for a lengthy period.
