Prince Philip belts up: Duke of Edinburgh is seen wearing a seatbelt in passenger seat after police warning following his horror Land Rover crash

Duke of Edinburgh seen wearing seatbelt in passenger seat after police warning following his crash | Daily Mail Online

THIS is super news.

I didn't mean my earlier post to " excuse" Prince Phillip's stubbornness when he was seen out driving in his new replacement car, just that I do understand it and the more people protest, the more the elderly driver MAY dig in their heels and refuse to hand over the keys.
It is harrowing to fear for both the very elderly driver and ALL the other drivers and passengers on the streets and highways. People can be very stubborn even despite an actual intervention to try to persuade them to stop driving, and it was pointed out how other innocent YOUNG people could be killed due to vision problems, a bad knee, and overall slower reflexes.

The elderly driver who is driving unsafely may do what they say Prince Phillip did, try and take mostly " back roads" but most roads can have traffic on them if they aren't the grounds' private roads.

I hope Prince Phillip never drives again, and I hope the rest of the Royal Family will wear seatbelts and so forth. I worry a lot about the Queen driving at her age as well.

In regards to th3 Wueen and Prince and any other family member not wearing seat belts.....one would think, that after Diana’s car accident, they would all wear a seatbelt. There is a good chance from reading reports, Diana would have lived if she had worn hers. I rather see wrinkle in clothes then a life lost.

I don’t think Prince Philip drives around in London anymore as the traffic can be insane. I’m not convinced he has driving all together around the Royal estates but we will see let’s hope so.

The Queen and Prince Philip have the seat belt alarms on their Land Rovers disabled to make driving easier, say reports.

The claim was made after both the royal couple were spotted without belts on recently.
Prince Philip was spotted unbuckled two days after he was involved in a horror car crash at Sandringham.

According to reports both the monarch and the Duke have had the safety feature deactivated on their Land Rovers.

Queen and Duke's 'Land Rover seatbelt alarms disabled to make driving easier'

It should be unlawful for any car manufacturer to do this even if the car is provided free.

^^^Geographic restriction. Can someone please inform us why they won't be hiring a nanny? Thanks

From the video: Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, are proving to be a thoroughly modern pair.

The parents-to-be want to be hands-on in raising their children, bucking royal tradition. Meghan's mom, Doria, will have a room adjacent to the nursery and will take the place of a nanny.

I myself, would never consider doing such. But it brings a smile to my face remembering how Michelle Obama's mother moved into the White House to take care of her children. How sweet.

Thank you very much. Not sure I think its a great idea, Doria seems pretty independent to me. She also has a 'partner' or good friend doesnt she?
IMO, frequent visits are a better idea. I think a visitor can stay for a couple of months.

I thought it was great that Michelle’s mother moved in to help and provide continuity for the girls when their parents had engagements, travel, etc. They already had a relationship with her, were in school and they weren’t babies.

I agree. I don’t really believe this story that Doria is going to be the helper for the baby. She’d be giving up her whole life in L.A. to be a live-in baby-sitter with no life of her own or friends. Frequent long visits make much more sense. We shall see what happens, but I doubt she would take this on. She seems too independent for that.

I think Doria will be there in the beginning. A loving and caring Grandmama. How lovely. A great support and Family time. As it should be.

Non-Political thoughts on this topic.
It's slightly different with Michelle Obama's situation. Meghan Markle isn't employed and doesn't have a job. She is essentially a home maker. There wouldn't be a need for her mother to be a move-in nanny considering Meghan is there to look after her own child and they already have nannies available all over the U.K.
The Obama children weren't babies, they were already in school, yes, that does make it even sweeter. That would have been a huge transition for the children and having grandma be there for them as a daily and constant presence while the Obamas were away would have helped with the adjustment. She was also retired. I'm not sure Doria is of retirement age, and if true, she is not a woman of financial means.
The other children of QE2 looked after their own children, yes, the had au-pairs and nannies, but again, that is normal, but they raised their own children, both parents weren't away travelling the world on royal duty.
But as Michelle said about her mother at the end of the 8 years, she was happy to be able to get back to her own life! :)
