Think I read Gayle is doing a nightime special for CBS. She attended the American baby shower so this is a pretty good indication of imminent birth?

For American TV, I’m glad it’s her and not TMZ...

Which British reporters does Harry like?

I can’t imagine oprah being a godparent at her age... thinking Meghan’s close friend in Toronto (her name escapes me, the dreadful stylist) whose adorable children were in the wedding would be on the list.

I read that there are lots of godparents to the royal children...

The dreadful stylist is Jessica Mulroney pictured with the Duchess of Sussex. Here’s hoping a professional in the U.K is hired to dress the Duchess of Sussex when her maternity leave is over.

I would be surprised if the Duke of Sussex likes any U.K reporters. It definitely isn’t Piers Morgan that’s for sure.

Godparents, according to the Church of England:

• Because of the very special role they have in supporting your child’s faith journey, godparents must be baptized themselves. Ideally they should be confirmed too, but check with the vicar about local policy on this.
• • Every child should have at least three godparents, two of the same sex and at least one of the opposite sex to your child. The palace has announced early stages of labor for Kate, can’t remember far back before her. But I certainly know I was watching the news for every one of Kate’s births as they most certainly announced she was in labor. Not sure why so many are stating this is just not true. Will they for H&M? It was stated they would so why doubt it.

I’ll be honest. It’s hard to read so much negative carp on this thread. Not sure why some would even bother to follow. JMO

I don't think TMZs interested. Mr. Markle worked with them on the photos, prewedding.

Style is not a given, for sure. Meghan doesn’t have a natural sense of style. That’s not to say she hasn’t looked fabulous in some outfits. But, not like Kate who knows exactly what looks great on her. Plus, formality has rather gone by the wayside in younger gens in the USA. Imo. It’s either all forms of casual or film premiere fashion over the top. NYC is one city where one can people watch great style and I can’t think of another...

I don’t recall who interviewed Meghan and Harry after their engagement, but wasn’t she British?

At least Gayle is in Meghan’s corner... and CBS is tasteful.

AFAIK, Jessica is Jewish. Her husbands family are Roman Catholic but I don't think Jessica would be able to vouch for C of E. Do we have any C of E clergy on the thread??

I have no idea how they are raising their own children but I think C. of E. wants protestant, Christians as godparents.

You are so en pointe on this one! Meghan is only 4 months older than Kate, but Kate clearly outshines her in style ( IMHO). Kate has a natural refined elegance and I agree completely with your casual/film premiere fashion point.

I think Meghan is substituting expensive couture clothes over her innate style, and I don’t think it works all the time. I think she would be better off backing off of the clothes horse competition and just have a lower profile, as befitting the wife of a non-succession prince.

Piers Morgan has trash talked the Duchess of Sussex a lot recently she is faking her life it is all an act, she is a social climber etc etc. They used to be friends but when she started dating Harry she ditched him and he has never forgotten it. He has proven why she did not have a choice.

People who have been baptized in the Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, United Reformed Church and other Christian denominations, can also be godparents at a Church of England christening.

Jessica is Jewish. Her hubby would qualify but not her. Unless she has converted but they had a mixed wedding of their own.

Church of England is not relaxed, you need to have been baptized to be a godparent. I also find it strange that they mention alternatives for people who can't find 3 people to be godparents. How is it that a person can't find at least 3 people to be godparents?
And frankly 3 is too much, it's not the 1800s, people aren't dying of plagues, so there really isn't a need for 3 people to be able to teach you about life and faith and take care of you if your parents die.
For those who are asking, No. A Jewish person cannot be a godparent. You need to be a baptized Christian.
I also like that the Church allows parents to be the godparents to their own children. Makes sense.

It is going to be interesting to see who the Godparents might be Beatrice, Eugenie, or Zara and Mike Tindell might be in the running. Earl Spencer Princess Diana’s brother is another possibility.
