I completely agree and know this, and I’m trying, so thank you
Been reading this site forever it seems and we read about so much misery and tragedy here, one thread of light brevity of some good in the world, regardless of whom the characters are, you know?

“Can’t wait to see her stop hugging her pillow” is so harsh to me when we read so much about parents whom abuse their kids that knocking a mother for hugging her baby in the womb? Goodness me. Come on guys! Let’s see the good in the world! We can all do it!
A baby is coming! A baby we know will be loved and well taken care for.
I know it’s a me thing

I’ll move on...

Sooo, I wonder if Harry has any hair left?? :D
Count me in! I wholeheartedly agree with you.

For those of you who have been overdue, what did you do with those extra weeks? Were you anxious or relaxed like Meghan? Thankfully you didn't have media trying to guess and capture your every move.
Hoping for a safe delivery and arrival for the baby!

For my first (Daughter) I was anxious as it was my first. I felt really good. Long labour. Took epidural after 19 hrs. Born at 22 hrs. My second (Son) I was a hot mess. He kicked so much I had bruised ribs and slept sitting up the last month. False labour everyday for the last month and acid re flux. I went into that short 3 hr. labour utterly exhausted. 10 days over with both.

Best advice when overdue, visit a friend with a newborn, well worked for me!

^^^This is how I ended up pregnant the first time!

My Grandma knew how to make babies come, the same way you started one...if you complained around her...she would holler, "Well, go get "busy".

She was a hoot. I think she was a lot more fun to hang out with than the Queen. Must be torture to be around people who are so "proper" all the time.

Church of England is not relaxed, you need to have been baptized to be a godparent. I also find it strange that they mention alternatives for people who can't find 3 people to be godparents. How is it that a person can't find at least 3 people to be godparents?
And frankly *3 is too much, it's not the 1800s, people aren't dying of plagues, so there really isn't a need for 3 people to be able to teach you about life and faith and take care of you if your parents die.
For those who are asking, No. A Jewish person cannot be a godparent. You need to be a baptized Christian.
I also like that the Church allows parents to be the godparents to their own children. Makes sense.

I'm not sure I understand how having had a Christian baptism the only requirement needed is not 'relaxed'?
(maybe the wrong wording? I meant in comparison with the Catholic churchs “letter of the law” rules)

I wasn't even asked when I was godparent & other friends haven't been either so it's not like they're exactly strict about this anyway:)

*Catholic baptisms also have 3 Godparents.

Point is, she doesn't have to try so hard, that's why she keeps failing. She can just be herself and the world will be alright.
Yes - Absolutely this ^

Well to avoid any risk of rising 'waiting-niggles' type of posts from this drought of baby news ;)

I think it's time for another of @BetteDavisEyes fun Brit-quizzes??

I'm not sure which is worse, this wait or staring at a Girraffe's lady bits for days LOL

At least with the waiting for April you got to see a lot of a very pregnant giraffe and it was extra-cool when it happened

At this rate everyone's gonna start drifting off ...including the media... from boredom & given up interest by the time baby appears! :p

Speaking of the 145th Run For the Roses, has anyone from BRF ever attended the Kentucky Derby?

I was raised in the Episcopal Church... I think Godparents had a greater role when life expectancy was shorter and communities and family were closer situated. And in wartime.

My church community was strong. I had four Godparents who were willing to raise us three sibs... it was post WWII, Father stationed in Korean War, nuclear high alert 1950’s...

The world has become more transient, greater distances between people. Multiple faith families have grown.

What I like about the CofE is a much more relaxed attitude about level of participation in rules. It’s there if you choose it.

For the RF, traditions are strong.

Waiting for the good news soon of a healthy baby who will be so greatly loved.

I love reading the posts from all of you on this positive and light-hearted thread.

I have learned so much - especially the fact that @BetteDavisEyes is such a champion of quizzes!

In 2007, Queen Elizabeth attended the Kentucky Derby.

The Royals at the Derby

  • Queen Elizabeth attended the 133rd running in 2007
  • Princess Margaret and Lord Snowden attended the 100th running in 1974
  • The Duke of Windsor and his wife Wallace Simpson attended the 77th running in 1951
