I worked with a lady whose son was name Stephen and she pronounced it as Steph-en. I also worked with a lady whose daughter was Marcia and instead of pronouncing the name like Marsha, she pronounced it as Mar-ci-a.

I do think Charles, Spencer and Philip will be in the name some place.
Why do they have so many middle names???

We pronounce Stephen the same as Steven.

I can't imagine how complicated it would be to choose a royal baby name, especially if you don't want to duplicate anything from the younger generations of royals and family friends.

Do you think one day they will accept the title of prince for the baby, when his granddad becomes king?

If the do, then I can't imagine a Prince Logan. But if you look at the names of Princess Anne's grandchildren they have lovely names that are not classic 'royal' names.

I would have gone for Alexander if not for the post above. What about Alfred/Alfie?

I think they'll try to choose something that fits in both the royal family and would not sound out of place in the military if baby were to follow his father's footsteps in future.

Now that that the Royal Baby Boy is here, do you think QE will give him a title? Opinions please.

Mind you, I’m in the US where Alfred is not popular. I must say, all I can think about with the name Alfred is Batman’s Butler. :D

I think she will ask Harry and honor his wishes. It will be a mutual decision. JMO

I associate Alfred as being the king who burned the cakes. It's a good old English name but I personally dislike 'Alf' that makes me think of Alf Garnett!

Alfred and Alf are not popular, however Alfie is... I know of a few that are school age

And as you already confirmed, Stephen / Steven are pronounced the same in the UK.

Not sure re surname - seems they can do whatever they want! I'd love to know what it says in their passports, and on the school register; eg is George "George Cambridge"?

He should be George Cambridge at school. No idea about the passport though...could he just be Prince George of the United Kingdom?

The Royal Baby’s official name and the day to day name he will use will be totally different. You’re correct Sussex is likely going to be his surname at school. Can you imagine going to go school with the surname Mountbatten-Windsor? It is so complicated and confusing.
The kind of school this kid will go to most of his classmates will have names like Mountbatten-Windsor.

Just read, I think it was the Mirror, they said the names of the horses behid Harry for the announcement were on plaques outside their stalls. One was called George and the other John, so they were wondering if that was a clue for the baby's name.

J0hn would be the only viable option of those two, seeing as how his cousin is named George and the Queen would not allow them both to be George's.

I don't really see "John" as the name with those two. I see something a bit more unique but not so weird that Great-Granny won't approve.

The last Prince John was locked away due to epilepsy. Died before adulthood.

News tonight in Australia:
( I think lobster and champagne would have been the last thing on their minds)

“And while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were hoping for a home birth this weekend, it’s now been reported that Meghan Markle was driven to the luxurious Portland Hospital in London late on Sunday evening, before giving birth to a baby boy just hours later.

While the new parents never revealed their birthing plan, it was widely speculated that if Meghan was to end up having a hospital birth, she would choose the NHS-run Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey.

However, it’s now been reported that Meghan opted for the luxurious £20,000 ($37,000) Portland Hospital — where pal Victoria Beckham gave birth.

The frontrunners for names (per the bookies)

Arthur - does Harry still get on with royal photographer Arthur Edwards?
Philip - I like this name, due a comeback
Albert - well, he can't be Prince Albert!
James - Prince Edwards's son
Alexander - love this too, but Alex Sussex sounds odd, Xander might be better
Alfred - yuck!

Would not be surprised to see Charles and/or Thomas in there.

Isn't John an American term for toilet?

I think they'll stay mainly traditional, with a nod to other family members and perhaps a random thrown in. But if I had to choose, I'd go with Philip Charles Thomas, and I think three names is enough!

Didn't Charles want Alfred and Albert for his sons and Diana nixed both names?

I think they'll go traditional for two names and might go non-traditional for the first name.

Or, they'll go traditional but, like Harry and Wills, have a 'will be known as' added.

I think they will use an African name in there somewhere. Maybe not the first name, but one of the other names.

Please not Alfie I will find myself singing “what’s it all about, Alfie?” like Cilla Black.

I did not realise this:

“Meghan and Harry's son is the first person ever with the right to become both the British monarch AND US President (but he might also face a US tax bill)”

Yes I think he will become the Duke of Somewhere or Her Majesty can make him a Prince but I think he has to wait a while to become a Prince it can’t happen right away according to a news report on sky news yesterday.

How does he have the right to become POTUS when he was born outside the US? I thought the whole point behind the birther stuff was the notion that being born in Kenya would disqualify Obama from the Presidency.
