I am confused. People complain about Meghan wanting to be in the spotlight. Then they complain because they are not in the spotlight.

Maybe I am ignorant or maybe stupid, but why can't Prince Harry and Meghan stay home a while in their newly renovated mansion and enjoy the gardens. I cringe thinking of a young baby on an airplane - thinking that their ears may hurt. I am a home body so I like staying home.

What annoys me isn't that they want the spotlight, its how they want the spotlight. Their attitude towards it often makes me think of this

Meghan at Wimbledon and Kate at Wimbledon epitomize it to me. Meghan has loads of empty seats around her and no one allowed to take a photo of her when shes in public and on TV whereas Kate sat among the public on court 14 before going to the royal box where she sat again surrounded by people.

If you look at how they handled Archie's baptism. They announced that they wouldn't be revealing who his Godparents were because hes a private citizen but in the UK a childs baptism and who their godparents are is a matter of public record. The only way its not a matter of public record is if its in the Queens private chapel, so they invoked royal privilege to make his records different from every other private citizen who is baptised. Technically Archie is the UK's most private private citizen baptised. Also they had the Archbishop of Canterbury do a childs christening which is not something that happens for a private citizen. They want the spotlight on their terms which isn't how it works.

What they want us to know feels very curated like we're supposed to know Harry is passionate about the environment and conservation and that should be widely photographed, published and spread but if someone says its hypocritical he hunts and uses private planes and prints a photo of that, its invading his privacy and he needs a break.

EXACTLY !

And what's the big deal about disclosing Archie's Godparents?

Did they not think we were smart enough to figure out it's clearly Sir Elton John ( & maybe Furness, too)?

And oh the birth drama and all that.

For all they are doing they are NOT raising him like a normal child.

I used to think it was all Markle, but the recent events make me realize Harry isn't all that.

Oh, and Sir Elton John's snippy post about the criticism of using his plane sounds like he's denigrating all the little people who don't realize he can equalize his excessive carbon footprint because he's so freakin' rich. He just buys it away (until he was told off by the Greenpeace director who gave the real information on how this works).

I imagine the godparents choose not to be announced so that they are not hounded, criticized, or made fun of

Oooh Thank You for this.

It all gets a bit complicated.

One has to have the Queen’s permission to wear the Balmoral tartan.

I love this kind of stuff:rolleyes:

I would go crazy with all the royal rules about what you can wear, when you can speak and don’t forget you can’t eat when Her Majesty stops eating even if your starving. It seems like a total nightmare.

I noticed that TOO! I don't think I've ever seen a photo of her riding where she is wearing a helmet.

She is The Queen, of course, and can wear whatever darn thing she wants.

No helmets and almost never seatbelts for Her Majesty.

Maybe I missed it but I don't recall any of the Godparents the Cambridge's chose being hounded, criticized or made fun of.

Personally I don't care who Archies Godparents are, my interest was piqued for a moment when they announced that they wouldn't be announcing it but aside from that it really doesn't matter. It all just seemed childish and hypocritical to me

The exclusion zone around the Duchess of Sussex at Wimbledon was a PR disaster. I wish the Duchess of Sussex was more like Princess Diana in the way she was around the public. Princess Diana would never have had an exclusion zone around her at Wimbledon. If things carry on the way they are a lot of people are not going to support the Duke and Duchess of Sussex anymore because of their behaviour and I find that very sad and disappointing.

The Sussex's certainly are made fun of, hounded, and criticized. I am sure the godparents can see how they would be treated.

I do not blame them one bit for not wanting to announce who they are

I imagine Harry and William wish there had been an exclusion zone around Diana.

She was treated horribly and really badly at the end when she had her unsuitable boyfriend.

Remember how it was said that she was mentally ill? I forget all of the horrid things she had to endure

I agree but it was the press that treated Princess Diana very badly and hounded her. Most people around the world loved her hence the devastation when she died. In my opinion Princess Diana never gave the impression that she was more important than anybody else. I don’t think she would agree with how the Duchess of Sussex is appearing in public at times even if it is in a private capacity. I wish she would conduct herself the same way as the Duchess of Cambridge who never puts a foot wrong with the public.

Harry and Meghan branded hypocrites for using private jets

Pair have spoken regularly on environmental issues

(CNN) - Environmental campaigners have accused the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of hypocrisy after the couple used private jets to fly to the south of France and Ibiza in two trips just days apart.

Prince Harry and Meghan, who have spoken out regularly on environmental issues, were photographed boarding a private jet with their three-month-old son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor twice in the last week, visiting Nice, France...

I know, right?

I couldn't give a hoot about anybody's Godparents.... Until you make such a fuss about secrecy and bending rules and hiding it from the public, then I'm curious as to whether it was Jesus himself, or just one of the 12 disciples that you got to be his Godparents.

It's this continuous mystery-special privilege- top secret- privacy nonsense that is making both Harry and Markle look like complete idiots, and very self-important ones, at that.

Does anyone know who Lady Louise's godparents are? Why not? Because her parents didn't draw attention to her christening by being super top scret about it or, hide it, or make the Queen give a special dispensation to use a christening to keep mandated documents away from public disclosure.

The Sussex's are both making themselves insufferable. Markle seems to be a demanding woman, but Harry is an active participant in this behavior, and looks more and more like a well-intentioned but somewhat dense man being massively manipulated by his ambitious wife. They make Edward & Wallis Simpson look like the quiet couple living in a small house down the street.

So they banned plastic straws from their wedding, but took 4 flights on private planes that consume fossil fuel and spill CO2 and other stuff into the atmosphere. AND I think there were actually 8 flight segments involved, as each plane has to return to the airport it originated from:

1&2: Flight w Sussex to Ibiza then plane returned to UK.

3&4: Flight to Ibiza to pick up Sussex's and return them to UK

5&6: Sir Elton John's plane flys from Nice to UK to pick up Sussexs', then UK to Nice to deposit them there.

7&8: Sir Elton John's plane flies from Nice to UK to return Sussex's then return flight back to Nice.

See how this adds up?

Perhaps Sir Elton and Harry could do some heavy duty reading on what really is causing the big climate damage and come out as EDUCATED eco-warriors, not just privileged rich ones. Harry seems to be more superficial the more he talks about climate change. Getting photos next to people who have made a difference is fine, but he needs to go beyond the photo-ops of him on luxury safari. Right now he's just a flashy figurehead who says very stupid things

Beef production, for example, is hugely wasteful of water and introduces a great deal of methane. So we catch the pontificating Emma Thompson eating beef on her first-class flight from Australia to the UK , where she had been babbling about climate change.

She had, rather unbelieveably, been giving a big splashy promotion in OZ about NOT USING AIRPLANES to travel, yet her carbon footprint for that stupid trip is massive. She really needs to be shamed for this stupid display, and for those who though flying her to and from Australia from UK for a very short program was a decent idea.

Princess Beatrice is set to marry multi-millionaire property magnate Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi 'as early as next spring’, a royal expert has claimed.

Engagement rumours have been swirling around the Queen’s granddaughter, 31, and the Italian property developer, 35, for months, with bookies suspending betting on an announcement last month.

Now Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine, has told Hello!: 'They’re going to get married – I was told by a member of the family. I think a wedding as early as next spring or summer is likely.'

The royal started dating the father-of-one, who has since moved in with Beatrice at St James Palace, in the autumn of 2018.

Irritates me no end when pointing out hypocrisy is deemed as bullying. Harry is in no way vulnerable, hes a rich Prince. Bullying should be reserved for actual bullying.
If we are "bullying" Harry by calling him out about taking private planes then surely he is "bullying" us when he talks about reducing our carbon foot print. If the Cambridges were talking about mental health one week and then cyber bullying someone the next it would be perfectly normal to criticize them for it to me its the same with Harry and the environment.

The thing is we do need people to talk about the environment and we need people of influence to lead the way but when people who make themselves out to be an expert can't even be bothered to make small lifestyle choices its a problem. The fact that this even having any kind of minor economic impact on Harry is annoying to me like if Elton is paying for the private jet why couldn't Harry put his money where his mouth is and pay for the carbon offsets, it won't do much but it would be something at least.

I read this article the other day about how rich people can afford to have "luxury beliefs" that will earn them social cache without ever having an impact on them. I don't think climate change is a luxury belief but I doubt Harry will ever be at the supermarket trying to decide if he should buy the cheapest bananas or slightly more expensive ones that don't come wrapped in plastic or the super expensive organic ones and scrimp elsewhere.
