What annoys me isn't that they want the spotlight, its how they want the spotlight. Their attitude towards it often makes me think of this
Meghan at Wimbledon and Kate at Wimbledon epitomize it to me. Meghan has loads of empty seats around her and no one allowed to take a photo of her when shes in public and on TV whereas Kate sat among the public on court 14 before going to the royal box where she sat again surrounded by people.
If you look at how they handled Archie's baptism. They announced that they wouldn't be revealing who his Godparents were because hes a private citizen but in the UK a childs baptism and who their godparents are is a matter of public record. The only way its not a matter of public record is if its in the Queens private chapel, so they invoked royal privilege to make his records different from every other private citizen who is baptised. Technically Archie is the UK's most private private citizen baptised. Also they had the Archbishop of Canterbury do a childs christening which is not something that happens for a private citizen. They want the spotlight on their terms which isn't how it works.
What they want us to know feels very curated like we're supposed to know Harry is passionate about the environment and conservation and that should be widely photographed, published and spread but if someone says its hypocritical he hunts and uses private planes and prints a photo of that, its invading his privacy and he needs a break.
