In my area, only restauraunt servers ( waiters & waitresses), casino workers, and store clerks wear white shirts and black pants.

Its not an outfit for a career person, which I have to assume this charity is aiming for.

It is a great idea without doubt. Especially when you're from somewhere this is needed

But the thing is it's kinda irrelevant here in the U.K. We have all this already, it's part of our benefit system, including grants available for interview/work/specific on-the-job/work-wear clothing, travel expenses, child care, even to help with the day to day living costs until pay-day

They also pay fees for college/ training courses, for getting any required certification, or whatever's necessary if it's gonna get you back to work.

*This sounds so much better than in reality...

To me looking at the bigger picture this makes no sense anyway, in numerous ways, I've questions to problems I can see both before & after this point in that picture in real life?

It won't do any real good, it won't work.

Exactly. Megs did not look good. I hate that pushing the sleeves up look - looks tacky. Her body shape is not good for tucking in a shirt - maybe a wider belt would have helped. The only thing I liked out of all the stuff was her bracelets. Those prices were too high for me and I work full time (except the under $20 dress).
Today her hair was still terrible and her body looked like a box with legs. My 3 cents worth.

At least she should have worn a coordinating jacket

Also, white shirts are a nightmare to care for. Especially if you are also dealing with children who spill things like tomato sauces, salad dressing.....

I'm also not really charmed that her BFF is one of the designers..... both of them seem heavily into self-promotion

The tote was pretty but not my taste - I like some type of closure at the top.

The collection is very J Crew, Banana Republic. They are streamlined mid level expensive clothes many of which are catered to the modern working woman, and man.

Keine, the support group aspect sounds like Job Seekers here in the US. They have business volunteers, meetings, speakers, and are in general are a good networking source.

Some charities in big cities have something similar with more concentrated expert job and career advice in house.

Is there anything like that in UK? I like the aspect of gathering people who need support to not feel so isolated, or downtrodden when sending out a zillion resumes.

Part of this is about enjoying the shopping experience. Maybe this is generational but in my day there was nothing like an experienced sales lady. Every girl in my hometown went to a certain lady at a certain shop to get properly fitted for her first undergarment. She was great, and was my grandmothers age. But she taught me the importance of a great undergarment.

Shops, whether new or lightly used clothing were always made fun and empowering by excellent feedback. One charity shop I used to love... just going for a couple of hours, and the sales ladies always knew exactly what was hot, just in, must try on, etc... and everyone would be having a fashion show, meeting people from all over, etc. the atmosphere was just great.

For Meghan, I suspect this cause is close to her heart and experience because she was a working woman, and knows the ups and downs of job seeking. If women connect with that and feel special because she’s a patron, has added a little royal touch, then what is not to love?

I still think she needs a stylist, and wish she’d start a sensible shoe trend, but she’s trying to find her way in her new job, too... so, I think some peeps will totally relate to that.

For most theatre/ballet/symphony/opera ushers (usually volunteers who get to see performances for free), black pants with white shirt is pretty much the standard unless the venue provides a uniform for seating staff.

I actually think that is her own ill-fitting white shirt that she wore to Wimbeldon with the non-matching whitsh and blue ugly pleated skirt. As I recall that shirt cost about $450.

For the clothing line, they should have had a blue & white striped shirt. It’s much smarter than that white shirt. You also have to pay attention to bras in white shirts ( headlight issues)

The whole introduction is sloppy.

But yes she was a working woman. Some jobs suck. Some jobs like the show Suits was set in a corporate setting. So I think she knows a thing or two, and has that to offer.

Meghan pursued what she loved and worked hard. She knows the value of that discipline.

Her collection is not tragic. In the regular job world less is more. My interviews in the American business world were always conservative and simple wins the day. Her collection does that.
