The Doe Network, Part 2: Who is Princess Blue?

I'm confused (big surprise). One article has Coffman saying the ring could belong to Princess Blue's mother, aunt or even herself and then another article says the following:
The class ring is the strongest clue, but also the most puzzling. If the girl graduated from Lee in 1975, she would've been about 33 years old when she died. Coffman said that's impossible, based on the forensic evidence.
Coffman believes the victim could've been the daughter of a 1975 graduate, meaning she would've been at least 2 when her mother graduated.
"My theory is that the ring belonged to a relative, but that's strictly conjecture," he said.

So what in the world are we supposed to put in the letter we are sending to Class Alumni??

Drawings Released Of Skeletal Remains Victim

HOUSTON -- Law enforcement officials hope two new forensic drawings will help solve a mystery from 17 years ago, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.

Skeletal remains were found in a trash dump at the end of County Road 101 near Highway 288 in Manvel on Sept. 10, 1990. Investigators have not determined a cause of death or when she died, but the death is considered suspicious.

No clothes were found with the remains.
A Texas Ranger forensic artist developed two new drawings from the victim's skull that show the victim with either short or long hair.

New evidence in the case indicated that the woman, originally thought to be Hispanic, was Caucasian with the probability of some African-American traits, officials said.

According to the forensic analysis, it is likely one parent or grandparent was African-American.

Her age at the time of death was determined to be between 17 and 21 years old.

She was between 4 feet 11 inches and 5 feet 3 inches tall with a slight to medium build.

Ahhh! I know just what you mean, RKnowley. I might quote just that. And, since back then some pregnancies were hidden, I might ask the alumni not to rule someone out just because they don't recall whether or not a classmate was ever seen pregnant. She could have left and come back after a pregnancy. It is also possible that the ring was given to a niece. It is also possible that Princess found the ring or it may have even been stolen. I say this with respect in my heart. We need to cover all angles.

Just to note about a person with African American ancestry. I one knew a guy that we called Baseball Billy(he had what we called a benign addiction to baseball). He was a really nice person and a good friend. One day in conversation he told me that his father was Black. Back then we never heard of the term African American. I was shocked. I didn't see it at all until he told me. Then I could see hints, yet he clearly looked Caucasian.

I also have a cousin who's father is African American. She looks fully African American. She has no hints that I can see that are Caucasian.

A good forensics team can see from examining skeletal remains things that may or may not be evident when seeing the person's face in life. So really we need to go by the facial structure, the basic features of the recon(i.e. square jaw line), the height(short statured and less common than average height), the time line, and to a degree from where a missing person disappeared from. I know that an abducted person can end up across the country, but this is less common. Add to that that the ring ties her to the Houston area, and one might conclude that it is more likely than not that she disappeared form somewhere in the Houston area. But, if I come across a missing person with several similarities I won't rule her out just because she doesn't seem to have ties to the Houston area.

Thank you so much, RKnowley! Please feel free to post any other articles that you come across. I have such slow dial up that it can take ten minutes for one news site to load. And video? I won't even go there lol.

Ahh, it is driving me nuts registering for all this stuff, sigh. Thanks, RKnowley, for hooking me up to spreadsheet. I don't have any addys yet, but I did come up with something interesting, IMO. I'll post off the top of my head now, and fix it tomorrow when I have access to my notes.

Hi Lanie. I am glad you at least now have access to the spreadsheet. Please tell me what interesting thing that you found. I am bouncing with anticipation.

Police hope new forensic drawings help case

By John Tompkins
The Facts
Published June 8, 2007
MANVEL — Her face is slightly round, with a square nose, thin eyebrows and a short-cropped haircut parted down the middle.

Her skeletal remains were found in a pasture near the intersection of Highway 288 and CR 101 with nothing to identify her except a 1975 class ring from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, a silver ring and a golden unicorn pin.

On Thursday, police released what could be the closest representation of the face of the woman found near Manvel by an Alvin man on his way home from work in September 1990.

“He found a tire and looked inside the tire and he found a human skull,” said Detective Richard Rosser of the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office. “The remains were already skelatized.”

Police are hoping now that the more accurate drawings of her face will be recognized by relatives.

“Somebody’s bound to know the girl,” said Manvel Sgt. Jay Coffman, the lead investigator on the case. “We’re hoping to get a little help. That will give us a much better idea of where to go with the investigation.”

Sable, that's got to be her. Call LE and give them the Doe Case number!!!

  • #538
Are we making a list of possible matches and submitting that to LE, instead of sending them in one by one? IIRC, Lion is in charge of contacting Manvel LE, and questions, poss. matches, etc. are going to be compiled and then submitted together so that we aren't constantly contacting LE. Correct me if I'm wrong..

Also, does anyone think the height difference between Princess Blue and Kimberly is too much? I think someone said something along the lines of the 4'10'' - 5'2'' translated to most likely 5' and 2 inches was added either way in case there was some mistake in calculation of height? 4'6'' seems awfully short, could it be a typo?

Does anyone want to make a "mirror site" for some (or all) of these articles so that we can still go back to them if they get taken off the sites they are posted to? If nobody has the time, or doesn't know how to, I can.

My Fox Houston

They sure are talking about us, because we were the ones who gave her the name, Princess Blue. I looked it up to see exactly when I came up with that name and it is as I recalled. It is post 79 of this thread, the first WS Princess Blue thread.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48232&page=2&highlight=Princess+Blue

I usually refer to UID persons as either Prince Does or Princess Does because the poor souls are not called by any name in death when they can't be identified. It seemed so impersonal so I have been doing that since I came to WS. At first I called her Princess Doe, the generic name I give for all all UID females. It sounds better than Jane Doe or John Doe if it is a male UID. Then I asked if it would be okay with everyone here if I called our Princess Doe, Princess Blue to give her an individual name. And, the people who cared so much about her on WS thread all began calling her Princess Blue. We truly care about who she was in life, and since she has no known name until she is identified, she needed a name, a beautiful name.
