LOL...love your story. I think we must live parallel lives! Jonathan started out in engineering also...chemical. He did one year of that before he changed his mind.
Wow...isn't that funny! All three of our kids (and hubby) love all things science and math...and it sounds like your Jonathan is the same! Life around here, with two engineers, an architect and a nurse is never dull. Pretty much everything can be explained by a mathematical equation. There’s very little gray area here.
I remember one year at Thanksgiving they all got into a big discussion about two cans of soup rolling down a hill...and which one would get to the bottom first. One was regular and one was chunky. It was way over my head...lol. So just for fun I said I thought if one was "low calorie" it would get down the hill first. They looked at me like I had two heads. lol
Our oldest had a physics question (when he was in high school). I knew there wasn't a chance on earth I knew the answer, or could help him, but I asked anyway. He had a question about a quasar, and after rubbing my chin for a moment, I said I think a quasar is a brand of television. lol That answer warranted a big sigh and an eye roll.

I think medicine is so fascinating and I'm sure your son will come home with some interesting stories. Two of my kids went to autopsies as part of their high school classes...and OMG, the stories I heard.

I wish your son the best. It's a long road, but it's certainly a wonderful profession to be going into. It will be interesting to see where he finally ends up. My daughter always wanted to work in pediatrics, but now she works on the transplant team and just loves it.
I'm just hoping she finds a nice ear/nose/throat doc to marry. I know...that's very selfish of me, but we all have those problems. lol
