This ought to be against the law!

Michelle, are there any special luxuries that this dream home will have?
Our current home is about 2400 square feet. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 washers & 3 dryers. Every morning there is a long line outside each bathroom. Our new home will have 7000 square feet with a big dorm room for the boys and another for the girls. It will have a 2000 square foot living room (which will be great for our home church meetings), a commercial kitchen similar to that of a restaurant with a dining hall, a big pantry, a play room, a master bedroom, a guest bedroom, a sewing room, an office, a laundry mat with 4 washers, 8 dryers and 10 bathrooms, all of which sits on 20 acres. To God be the Glory!

Somebody should have turned them into cps a long time ago for having that many children in a 2400 square foot house. IMO this is child abuse.

I agree! My house is that size and as a family of 5 we're outgrowing it! I can't even imagine!!!!!!! Those poor kids. I have a feeling we'll be seeing them in the news again at some point and it won't be for the birth of another child. (well, it might be, but at some point I think it will be something else!) JMO.

I think it's wonderful! Obviously they love children and enjoy them. I can't say the same for many of the families I know with few children. They often remark how they can not wait for school to begin or dread weekends because they will actually have to spend lots of time with their kids.

I see nothing wrong with family members taking care of each other. I see nothing wrong with chores and all of the other things that bond them together in a way that many other families have forgotten. Personally, I am sick to death of spoiled rotten kids that think everything should be handed to them and they don't have to earn anything. Most of the kids I know today think the world revolves around them and it's their parents fault!

Too many people are raising idiot children who only know how to veg out in front of the tv watching CRAP or giving their thumbs a workout playing some stupid video game. Their children have ZERO social skills, and couldn't make themselves a sandwich and clean up the mess they made doing it, if their lives depended on it.

As far as watching tv...well there is mostly CRAP on it anyway, so much so I severely limit what my child watches. I also think is refreshing they don't feel the need to run out and spend $100. on a pair of sneakers and another $100.00 for a sweatshirt because that's what everyone else is wearing!

I admire them and hope they have many more!

I would be willing to bet their older children aren't hoping for the same thing!!!! I wouldn't even want to cook for 18 people every night.....I can't imagine putting this pressure on a young teen!!!!!

Do you REALLY think the kid does this all by herself while mom sits on the sofa eating bon bons ?

My kid is 7 and is expected to set the table each night and often times he helps me prepare meals. It's my hope one day he will make some woman a wonderful husband. He will know how to cook, clean, do laundry etc...And if he choses to remian single he will know how to take care of himself.

My ex had a mother that waited on him hand and foot, the man couldn't boil water. It's one of the reasons he's my ex.;) So all of you folks that think it's great your children depend on you so much and you do everything for them, you really aren't doing them any favors. The best gift you can give your children is their own independence. I want them to love the woman they marry and not marry because they need a mommy replacement.

Nope, she's probably changing diapers.

I am raising my children to be independant....yes, of course they have chores. I don't think setting the table and helping Mommy with dinner even compares to this situation. My children do the same, and in fact love to cook. They do know how to use the washing machine and actually have scrubbed a few toilets ;)

We are all entitled to our own opinions :)

:blowkiss: O thank yo Linda!!! I have been reading this string with amazement and thinking something was wrong with me for respecting, admiring and...okay... being a little jealous of the obvious love, stableness and honest connection this family has! NO one else here sees any of what has been written as a good thing? Spending all day with your kids....wouldnt drive me crazy. I guess I am nuts to want to be with my family.

Its obvious by all counts that this family is financially stable, physically fit, emotionally sound and spirituallly connected. Good Lord, when did that become a bad thing?!?

No, I don't believe a family is financially stable if all they can afford is a 2400 sq. foot house for 18 people. Even though they are building a 7000 sq. foot house(which is WAY too small for that many people) they should not have had more children until they could provide suitable living arrangements. No one can spend quality time with that many children. I know...I was a teacher. I never did get to spend as much time with each of my students as I would have liked. Also remember, they were all in the same grade. No, not responsible at all.

When one of my boys went off to college, he was the ONLY one in his entire dorm that knew how to do laundry and cook! lol! He had to teach them ALL.

Oh JBean that's so great to hear!!!! My boys know how to make beds (not that they do it every day like I'd like....mad school rush!) and my 11 year old cooks all the time. They even know not to use hot water on stains!!!! While their "clean" isn't my "clean" they know all the basics and I feel in time it will just get better!!!! They have to clean their bathroom, etc...NOW, would they want the responsibilty of helping their little brother at night with his homework, etc....I think not! They will watch him for me from time to time, and help him clean up his messes, but I don't expect it from them.

I will tell you that my boys are quite pleased that they have this kind of knowledge and have thanked me for making them do for themselves. They came to see how helpless some of the other kids were as they've grown up and so now they "get it". Here's a tip for you Sassy. Make sure you teach them how to balance a check book. They will really thank you for that:p

The one thing I will teach them, is that when they head off to college, not to accept all the great credit card offers they'll get!!!!! We're working on teaching them to save money right now, and my middle son was doing sooooo well, until I was headed to Petsmart to buy dog food and my son whips out his wallet and says "I have enough to buy a rat and a cage". I told him we can't buy a pet on a whim and he needed to research all that first :) Then he wanted to go to Gamestop.....much better than a rat! I'm fine with the rat, but I need to know if their urine stinks as much as a mouse!!! Gerbils/hamsters/guinea pigs fine.....but we had a mouse and it reaked!!!!! We let "Lucky" (he was snake food and the snake wasn't hungry so he came to live here) go in the woods......
