The Last Happy Hour, book by Charles Joseph Hackett

Ooops. I will edit.

Thanks!

We can use initials I think. ;} Wish something would open up in the case. Did the new Chief take over?

Off to get my soup started. It is suppose to SNOW in Portland tonight. :snowball: :rocker:

I don't know if the new Chief took over yet. Good question.

Enjoy your soup scandi and stay warm!

New Chief?

You are joking right?

The way it works in the real world is an interim commissioner is put in place temporarily while a task force is hired to research and then interview potential candidates for the police commissioner position. They then compose a 200+ page report containing their suggestions. The County Executive then utilizes that report to help make his decision. Once he does, he submits his appointment to the County Legislature.

This process can take from three months to a year before a new police commissioner takes office.

At the "Fieldnotes to an inquiry" blog, it mentions that CPH has James Patterson novels on his bookshelves! (One of Patterson's novels, "Beach Road," was found near the AC victims. The term "beach road" could be interpreted as a reference to Ocean Parkway.) It's a weak coincidence; Patterson is an enormously popular writer, but I thought it should be entered into the record anyway.

As for CPH being the killer, I don't know what to think. But weirdness abounds.

Imagine if his copy of Beach Road is missing from his collection?

Weirdness abounds!

No, not joking. I thought they would have it organized so that when one politician stepped down the other would be in position to step up.

I'm not familiar with James Patterson's books, but I find it an especially weird coincidence that the book "Beach Road" was found by the AC victims, given that it (and other novels by Patterson) is actually set in East Hampton which is in Suffolk County:

Excuse me while I scoop my chin up off the floor.

@Aleph: Can you give us a link to this blog? I would like to read more.

Thank you. I just read the entire blog. It appears that JJ is now friends with the Gilbert family but initially did not know them, personally. I wonder if when they went to the doctor's home with the psychic (Oct 5, 2011) if JJ knew that a copy of Patterson's book (Beach Road) had been found near the four victims in AC?

"The area where the women were found is strewn with trash. On Tuesday, the litter behind the Golden Key near the spot where the first body was found included an empty vodka bottle, a pair of black Jockey undershorts, a used condom wrapper and a battered copy of the James Patterson novel “Beach Road.”

That works with the elected officials but the police commissioner position is an appointed position. And the law says that an employer cannot start looking for a replacement for a worker until that worker officially retires (he could have changed his mind the last moment and continued to work another year or two).

Interesting tidbit, though I don't think it has much significance...

JJ and MG actually had a falling out over things contained in this blog. I don't know all the details but MG spoke about it on FB.

When you say weirdness, I'm sure you mean coincidence. This accumulation of coincidence will continue to occur as you examine both CPH and the LISK. If it seems like you are on an easter egg hunt where each and every egg you find contains a winning raffle ticket, it is because they are not coincidences. If CPH and the LISK were not one and the same, than the two seperate and distinct trails would be comprised of events and characteristics that have a low correlation to each other. I've accumulated a lot of data on both individuals, and the correlation is approaching 1.

Sometimes I wonder if he's the Richard Jewell of this case.

Because JJ wanted to stick with writing the facts and remaining unbiased.
