The Letters and the Secret Evidence

She certainly did not look as if she had received any scoldings from JB while she was in court. KC looked quite chipper. I believe the letters were released to JB that previous Tuesday so he had some time to go through them before court. KC did not look as if she was worried about it at all, in fact, she appeared giddy as if the whole thing were a big joke. JMO

I don't think her happy demeanor matters at all. She looked quite chipper in those party pictures while her daughter's body was in a trashbag a short walk from her house.

The only time, to me, her demeanor seems to have been truly controlled by her emotions and not by her theatrics is when she got angry at her parents on that jail tape. She has to hide all that anger by seeming giddy.

Well JB only has until Friday to file a Motion to have the letters sealed. I wonder if he will just wait until Monday's hearing and ask JS to do it then. We all know he is some what of a slacker and waits to the last minute to do this stuff. If this is the case it would be great if the SA one upped him and released the letters first thing Monday morning before the hearing.

I don't know if this is possible but, I have a feeling that we're gonna hear from JB asking for an extension on those 15 days. They love to stall, stall, stall!

I believe the courthouse is closed Friday-as it is Good Friday. So would that give JB until Monday to file?:waitasec:

Guard Suspended In Casey Pen Pal Investigation

WFTV found out the jail guard who allegedly helped Casey Anthony write an inmate pen pal in jail is now on suspension. Jail guard Silvia Hernandez is still being paid while the investigation plays out.

Also, there's another problem. Both Casey and Robyn were in protective custody at the jail when the letters were exchanged, which means they were not to have any contact or communication with one another. Hernandez is now under suspension with pay while the jail investigates whether she passed the letters from Casey to Robyn, as Robyn told investigators.

Hernandez was assigned to Dorm L as soon as she was hired and worked there for about a year before being transferred. Hernandez worked for the state prison system in Lake County before going to work at the jail. She's been disciplined for absences and tardiness, and once for not reporting her use of force to break up a fight between two inmates. She has also been praised for her writing skills and documentation, but she apparently did not document that she helped Casey write letters to Robyn.

The jail investigation could take another two weeks. Casey remains in Dorm L, but Robyn is now in federal prison.

The defense has until Friday to decide whether to ask the judge to seal Casey's letters from the public. The judge has already said he's not inclined to seal them.

I really want to read these letters. Maybe, just to see how much Casey has learned while she's been incarcerated.

Was March 18th counted as one of those 15 days? If it was then 15 days would be tomorrow. I doubt it... but, it would be nice.

I have a feeling that we'll be seeing a motion to seal the letters some time tomorrow... If not then we should get them on Monday, right?

Great job, Angel! I just got home, saw it (the guard article), and searched the threads. You were already on it.
Gracias!
Sometimes I need a little more than just the 'thanks' button.

I'm DYING to read those letters but I have a feeling, since the courthouse is closed on Friday, that JB will definitely ask for an extension on Monday. :banghead: I agree with the previous poster who said that that's the way he operates. Let's hope it doesn't happen.

Depending on whether March 18th (the day of the last hearing) is counted, then the 15th day would be tomorrow. If they are not counting the 18th then the 15th day would be Friday.

I would think, and I could be wrong, that he would have to at least file for the extension by tomorrow if he had any chance of it being delayed? Can they file for an extension on the very day it is to be released? What if they are released before they get their request in?

I want to read these letters because it has been a long time since anything has come directly from Casey.

I don't think Casey has learned anything in jail other than how to get a guard to pass notes.

I think that these letters are going to be filled with Casey lies... lies that contradict her previous lies, hopefully.

It's reportedly over 200 pages worth. I just have a sense that a lot of what these letters contain is "When I get out..." She probably talks about the media. Her parents. It is going to be interesting how much she talks about Caylee. Would she go as far as trying to convince this woman that she had nothing to do with Caylee's death?

Oh, and I'm wondering? Why this woman didn't want LE to have them? I'm thinking she wanted to sell them when she got out.

casey wrote 258 pages worth of notes..that is a small novel!!!

I guess they're all different. The County I work for has GF as a floating holiday. You can take it or save it.

Will jose have to file something before monday and their court appearance regarding the letters, if he wishes to discuss this with JS?

Gotta love this line: "Any corrections officer who facilitated the correspondence could face punishment, as well as Anthony herself." So much for model prisoner! And of course the defense describes the other inmate as a jailhouse snitch.

I would hope he would have to file tomorrow. I mean technically, Monday is AFTER the time he has to file a motion for an extension. I know I get my paychecks early if the end of the month falls on a Saturday or Sunday and I work for the state of OK. Of course, that could be totally different, but I can hope, darn it! Besides, an extension to file an extension is just absurd.

I really want to know if he has to file by tomorrow, or if we're going to have wait through Easter to find out! Any of you lawyer types care to jump in here?

I thought the 15 day deadline was Friday? If it's Friday, and the court is closed Friday, then he'll have until Monday.

Who wants to bet that he hasn't "had enough time" to go over these letters?
