Assuming that the break was fresh, and your first possibility was the case, then it should stand to reason that the hole would be found right above the location where the splinters were discovered on the floor. No?

I would think so. It's doubtful the investigators looked for a hole or anything else that would support the paintbrush handle as used for a suspension.

What is so silly about my question? You say Patsy was posing JB just for Patsy, for her angelic viewing. She wanted to relive the image over and over. Why wouldn't she dress JB is all her pageant finery for her work of art as in the Prime of........

Going by the construction; one end in a hole or between two objects such as nails. Two parallel pipes would do just fine. I don't know what was used I wasn't there. I just look at the possibilities. And stop being Silly Chelly.
