WRAL has learned Abaroa and her husband, Raven, had been going through money problems recently. Their landlord let them live rent-free for the last two months after they lost their jobs. The landlord said they had found new jobs and were getting back on their feet.

I read this to mean that the landlord had let them live for free for the two months prior to this interview. That would have been either February & March or March & April, depending on whether or not he was including April as one of the "last two months". ETA: The word "last" wouldn't make sense in the sentence otherwise. It would have made sense to say that he gave them free rent for the FIRST two months after they lost their jobs if they meant that it was immediately following the job loss. So I think it means that he gave them free rent for the two months prior to this interview BECAUSE they lost their jobs. I think "after" was just a poor word choice in the article. They should have either said "the past two months" or used the word because rather than after.

Could I have made this any more confusing? LOL.

So, by not putting up a reward, does that indicate that the Abaroa Peters family are aware who did it and do not need the public's help???

It doesn't make sense to me that Raven would be living with another one of their daughters if the Christensens think Raven is the perp.

Gee.........soooooo many unanswered questions and concerns in this case!!

Here's the dilemma for the Christensens as I see it . . . Raven has nothing tying him to the east coast other than the pending embezzlement charges, if they turn him away where's he going to go? Until they can get legal guardianship of Kaiden, they're stuck.

I'm not surprised that there is no reward from the Abaroa-Peters family, after reviewing the siblings myspace sites I don't think that this family has the financial resources to post a reward. And the Christensens ... I think they don't need to post a reward because they already know who murdered their daughter/sister.

I have been a friend of Janet and her family all my life. Janet and I are the same age and we grew up together.
I would like to clarify a few things:
1. Janet did not know about the embezzlement nor did her family until he was charged.
2. Janet's family has said that they wish to leave the investigating up to the police
3. Janet's parents have said that they forgive whomever did this and they don't believe it was Raven
4. Raven is staying with Janet's sister in Southern VA
5. At Janet's funeral and memorial service Raven was so broken up that he could barely stand up
6. All who knew Janet loved her very much it was very hard not to like her

I really don't this this killing was random. It was too personal for that, but I also don't think that Raven could have done this.
Please pray for the familiy especially Kaiden who will never personally know how incredible his mother was until they meet again.

Janet was the kind of person to give all that she had to help another. So if they had to pawn something she would be the first to give up something of hers.

so do you know if the newspaper were wrong when they reported that janet had been emailing some co workers and they alerted 911 that something was wrong??

Also, I hate to ask but it would settle some rumors if we were wrong, but did Janet and Raven split up for a time in early 2004?

Since I am from NC and grew up 45 mins from this area I am very curious about this case. I just can't seem to make everything mesh. On one hand he seems very self involved. On the other hand he seemed to love Janet and Kaiden very much.

I have just been tossing some things around in my head.
a) listing himself as single....is it possible it's just the default setting???
b) collecting knives and the c'mas video....I saw nothing ominous in it and I know lots of people who collect knives
c) Janet being stabbed....just because he collects knives does not immediately make me suspect him. I believe someone said 'who would stab someone'. I remember a time when I hung out with some less than desireable types they didn't carry guns they carried knives.
d) the photo of Janet at the pool....aside from the edges around her looking like they were possibly photoshopped I don't see anything in that photo except someone goofing for the camera.

I understand 'reading between the lines', but I just don't see as much as everyone else does 'between the lines'. This has me so perplexed.

I have to say I am pi**ed about him taking money from his church, a waiver for 2 months rent and then reduced rent while owning all of those expensive toys. Whatever happend to personal responsiblity? Don't even get me started on that. :snooty:

As far as the split if it happened it was real short. ipersonally don't think it did because she would not have let herself get pregnant.

We've heard numerous times that Raven was cheating on Janet with multiple partners. Is that possible knowing Raven? Was it in his character to cheat on his wife?

I appreciate that because I also have a ton of questions. I agree with your statements #2 through #4 above but I'm not sure about #1. In order for your sign to show, you either have to select IT or your birthdate. That would require going into the create profile area. Yes, single is the default setting but even if he somehow missed that part of the profile selection, he would have seen it listed as single on his page after he clicked submit (or whatever the button might happen to say) to enter his birthdate.

I'm not sure what this phot has to do with anything but I can tell you that that was how she looked. No retouching required.
