I'm starting the DVR thing to tape.. I can't believe i am in and out today! I'll set for 1:30 but I wonder if the pope will still be on... oh well here goes~

I'm trying to figure out if the Jury questions they still had will get read?

ITA, I think this court is completely disrespecting these jurors. To begin they are sitting on a very high stress, high profile, death penalty case expected to last 4+ months. That is a huge sacrifice in every area of their lives. This trial has got to be taking an emotional toll on them. Even if a juror is retired this is going to interfere greatly, forget about taking care of children, grandchildren, spouses, pets, home, one's own health, etc.

Meanwhile Arizona taxpayers are footing the bill for this entire trial including the defense including Nurmi and his drawn out irrelevant questioning and delay tactics and constant sidebars. Surely issues will always arise but I don't see this court making an effort to keep proceedings running efficiently and THAT is why citizens don't want to participate in the jury system, IMO.

The judge especially should be ensuring the ship runs smoothly, allowing the jury to focus on the evidence, not the sideshows and that's what this has become.

Really unfortunate.

Could NOT agree more. Have lunch brought in, take 45 minutes and keep it rolling. Have IT people ensure things are working before hand, this isn't complicated stuff.

I just spent 15 minutes trying to embed one of my "best of juan" clips. I hope someone will enlighten us both. Steely Dan?
bbm

pretty please mr. dan, sir, with an emu on top ...

It would be cool if Juan were able to roll in an exact-to-scale replica of the bathroom/closet/hallway...
Maybe she had previously duct taped the knife underneath the bathroom sink for accessibility? I remember Juan mentioning a drinking glass found in the shower that Jodi admitted had been kept under the sink...
hmmm....

They'll keep asking her questions until they get the logical answers they want. They really want to acquit her. :(

Says you. I say they want to convict of capital murder with clean hands and clean consciences.

I don't know if this was posed but Mr. Martinez needs to emphasize that in those 62 seconds, Travis also stood at the sink coughing and dripping blood. So his back would have been to Jodi. This was likely when she stabbed him in the back. Then he turned, she stabbed him in the chest and he collapsed in the hall and she finished him off.

It adds a few seconds and helps.

Another question, does anyone have a link to or record of the call log between Jodi and Travis. I remember about 2 minutes of calls while she was still around the Salinas area. Is there any records of calls or texts after that point?

BTW Hello everyone, I am a longtime lurker who appreciates the amazing posts and analyses on these boards. I won't be posting much as I have to do my catching up after work but thank you!

Great point - and WELCOME!

I've always thought the blood drips/spray/spatter at the sink were crucial in refuting self-defense.

At some point - before he was on the floor, unable to get up - Travis took the time to go to - and stand at - the sink... whether to inspect his injuries or catch his balance (something to lean on) or to cough up blood in the sink (reflexive act - we often go to the sink after getting an injury, especially a bleeding one.

This means Travis WAS NOT ATTACKING JA - he was facing the sink, clearly. The blood at the sink also clearly shows that he was seriously wounded.

This CANNOT be self-defense, and (to me) this is just one more example as to why.

I swear, HLN would go dark if they couldn't use the words "drama" or "emotion" anymore. My gosh, why do they have to dumb down everything so dramatically?? I always feel just a little more stupid if I watch too much of it.

IMHO, they'll keep asking questions, until JA pounds the last nail into her own coffin. I don't believe for one second they want to acquit her.

ETA: The majority of the 220 questions they've asked her so far sound a little, um, confrontational. That doesn't seem to me to signal people who want to acquit her.

Exactly! Many of the journalists called some of the questions, "making fun of her" like the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 question for instance. Based on the questions alone, some in the jury are clearly not happy with her "memory loss", lies, and her trying to make Travis look like a sexual deviant when there is proof she was as into it, if not more than he was! The jury most definitely doesn't want to acquit her, imo. :moo:

Without any further delays, court should resume in about 30 minutes.

This trial should run 6 days a week. No more 3-day mini-vacay. Jodi doesn't deserve it, lawyers probably don't need it and the jurors probably don't want it.

Why isn't this more speedy? As it is, it's only 6 hours a day. At 4 days a week. This 5 year case is given less than a 100 hours of testimony a month. This will never end!!!

When people are ordered to perform community service, you think they get to take this much time to serve out their obligation?

Jodi doesn't deserve this much time especially seeing she changed her story during her incarceration. There should be a price one pays for that.

Thank You for the warm welcome. : ) I still have to figure out how to add/do the cute smileys.

Could JM somehow demonstrate that she couldn't have stepped up on those closet shelves without them collapsing?

It would be cool if Juan were able to roll in an exact-to-scale replica of the bathroom/closet/hallway...
Maybe she had previously duct taped the knife underneath the bathroom sink for accessibility? I remember Juan mentioning a drinking glass found in the shower that Jodi admitted had been kept under the sink...
hmmm....

He could use a tape measure to simulate the length of the hallway like I did. It takes well over 62 seconds for her story to work, and that's not counting the slit throat. I left that variable out in my simulations.

I'm going to have to drink some wine to slow my heart beat down. It's been trying to beat right out of my chest since JM started today. Having Nurmi interrupt constantly is like waiting in a traffic jam and moving an inch every five minutes.

AND, it seems she sustains or overrules objections based on whichever she said last. As if she's said sustained too often, she'll throw in a couple overruled's, then back to some sustained, blah blah...Sorry, it's just very frustrating and seems to have NO definitive pattern. If I was Mr. Martinez, I'd be tempted to say NO, I'm NOT going to rephrase - it's a legitimate question - either sustain or overrule, but I'm not rephrasing it.

I agree w/ this. It seems like Nurmi just repeatedly objects to the same thing over and over until the Judge gives him his way. She overruled something several times in a row and every time Juan would start to say it again or finish his sentence, Nurmi would object AGAIN. Enough times of this and he'd finally get his way. It's very frustrating.
