the question phase continues: Arias on the stand for the 18th day #84

I've heard repeatedly from various talking heads about how Mr. Martinez needs to make his point and move on and how he shouldn't show his frustration to the jurors.

My question is, how is JM suppose to make his point and move on if JA will NEVER answer a question in a straight-forward manner?!

On almost every question she wastes time mincing words, or she changes the question in her mind and answers something else, or she claims she doesn't understand the question, or she asks the question be repeated, or Nurmi objects and we have to go into sidebar. Then when she FINALLY answers a question, she answers with a qualifier, never a straight answer on the questions that really matter.

That should explain in and of itself why Mr. Martinez may be frustrated. But at the very least, how can anyone accuse him of not moving forward?

Am I missing something?

holy smoke. LET THE PROSECUTOR QUESTION HER ON THE MURDER!!!!!

stop with the sidebars already!

:furious:

Tuba was right on- their objective and only defense is to interrupt the cross examination- they have nothing else!

Sooo irritating!

I can't recall... what's her most recent version of events when it comes to the holster. Was there or wasn't there one?
I'm sure she'll have answers to each theory she's dreamed up.

at one point gun was in a holster, but can't remember if it was at time of murder.

JUAN can handle this momentum manipulation by Nurmi.....Imo.

Has nurmi ever done a murder trial he acts so not experienced I know he's not dp qualified
But seriously I've never seen anything like him

Can someone tell me...

Can Juan think fast enough on his feet, while doing this amazing job, to realize what she has just said about the luggage?

Or does it take time to process the actual testimony you are hearing and relate it to the case?

I mean, yeah...we are sitting here and immediately heard it - but he is still on his line of questioning and has to follow that.

Ok, any lawyers or judges out there?? Are the constant requests by Nurmi for sidebar something that happens in other high profile death penalty cases?
How is it that no one in authority within the Mesa legal community is commenting or at least advising the judge to consider reigning this in in some way?

Quite the strategy. Pretend you don't remember anything and have your attorney say "speciulation" every single freaking time you're asked a question.

Someone needs to tell the defensive council that St. Patrick's day is March 17th, 2013 NOT March 13th 2013. Their choice in "green" colors offends me and deedifies my Irish ethnicity.

Why doesn't Nurmi just drag his chair up under the Judges bench :furious: So sick of "May we approach"

Seriously, all this up and down, at this rate we may see him shed some serious poundage by trial's end.

Ugh, I'm going to start a drinking game. Drink every sidebar! Drink everytime JM says "yes or no". Drink everytime JA says ANYTHING.

It's the only way to make it through!

Keep annoying the jury Nurmi!

If I were a juror I would take it that into consideration. It means that JM is getting too close to the truth. Trying to shut JM down is despicable. Nurmi is also trying to derail the jury's train of thought.
