Without the camera they still would have gotten her. The bloody palm print with DNA from both Travis's blood and her own blood was all that was needed. The camera photos like shorted the timeframe of them knowing it was her, but hard to tell since they needed forensics to extract the photos from the camera, and who knows if that took as long as discovering her DNA in that bloody palm print. The camera photos unquestionably helped, but she wouldn't have gotten away with it without them. Mostly they helped with the timeline and pinned down the exact time of the murder. They also undoubtly helped in court.
At the very least, it decreased the number of things she could lie about.

If she didn't bring the knife, which has been established as the murder weapon, how is it a slam dunk for the State?

As far as I can see, the State did not prove she brought the knife with her, and cannot prove it.

They could mitigate this problem by bringing on an expert to say the gun was used first, but so far they are not showing signs of doing this.

I don't think they need to prove she brought the knife.
They have a strong case for premeditation against her:
1. Rent a white car
2. Die hair
3. Turn off phone so there's no cell tower hits
4. Gas cans so there's no stopping for gas in AZ (lying about the gas cans on the stand)
5. I think they proved the stabbing and shooting started in the bathroom. If she brought the gun and knife from a room in the house to the bathroom that would be premeditation. I don't think they have to prove she brought it from Yreka. Proving that would be IMPOSSIBLE (JM voice lol) because a knife is not as easily identified as a gun. You can find knives in every house.

I love the camera though. It gives her 62 seconds. Killing such a strong man that based on the defense wounds tried to defend himself would take about that time ONLY if you had both weapons close by.

I think the camera was HUGE for the prosecution in this case. How eerie is it that the camera snapped pictures like that?

It is strange. Laci Peterson and baby Conner's bodies were found thanks to the storm in the area. Strange again. A cry for justice.

Agree. That is why her story is so bad. People keep saying she's a bad liar, I think she's a great liar. But she's got to tailor her story to the evidence, and the evidence is so strong, it has backed her into a story that is absurd.

You know what .. I think there is SOME truth in her lie, but I think her 'purse' was in there with the gun in it. If she had jumped up on the shelf it would have collapsed I'm 100% certain of that because those shelves are hopeless and can collapse under the weight of a few too many books.

But I agree, there's some truth to that lie, I agree that she went into the closet for the gun it just wasn't amongst Travis' possessions, it was amongst hers.

Also, it was interesting when JM got to the footwear, she positively shivered. I think it's because she was in socks which was not normal, and I think she was in socks because she was sneaking around in them ..

How's her form changing her stories today, loved it. I'd love to see her on the stand just one more time, just to see what other fabrications she'll try and make up on the fly.

Also loved her facial expression as she stood up for the jury this afternoon.

I have a free standing shelving unit from Ikea that has these resting shelves. Not only would there be no possible way they could have held her weight, but she insists she only put her one foot on the shelf at the very edge. With resting shelves, you can't even put the slightest weight on the edge or the back end of the shelf flips up... made that mistake myself with some cd's I put too close to the front edge without having something heavy closer to the back edge as a counterweight.

As for her being in her socks, I attribute that to her not wanting to leave bloody shoe prints knowing from other crime stories that people can be tracked and identified through the print of their shoes. As I recall, there WAS a bloody shoe print in the hall from her, and I think she took off her shoes when she realized she was stomping through all that blood. I'm sure her shoes got "lost" along with the gun and other things she needed to get rid of.

No question at all that she was lucid and thinking with everything she did after she killed him in trying to mask or get rid of evidence, and there's no way she did all that in any "fog". As someone else mentioned a day or two ago here, if she'd been found wandering in the street covered in blood I could believe she had "fognesia".

The first thing I thought of when I saw the picture of her foot with socks and pants was she had shorts and a tank on underneath. All she would have to do is take off the pants, a hefty tee shirt and the socks and she is ready for a hot day in Arizona. After washing the blood off her exposed skin and hair, of course! She could have stuffed her clothes in any bag and stopped at a dumpster....didn't she say she got rid of the rope in a dumpster, too? :twocents:

Makes sense. Also I think she would want to be well-padded in case things got rough. I believe that she planned to use a knife all along (to torture him, very important for her to satisfy that 'yearning') so she must have thought all along to protect herself with a couple of layers of clothing.

I know...this is the most disturbingly fascinating case I have ever followed. The x-rated photos, the sex, the lies, Arias wild ride to go kill Travis, the upside down license plates, the lies, the stolen gun, the bizarre TV interviews, the lies, the make out session hours after the murder, the stalking, the allegations of pedophilia, the lies, the accidental photos of the murder, the creepy behavior of JA, the smug, arrogant, combative behavior with the prosecutor........seeing a psychopath in action.

It seems to me that there was people that understood JA was different. Does this 'different' develop as a child or is it in her DNA? Evil people that don't feel empathy. If it is not there you are bound to get in trouble enventually. I really believe these 'different' people can take a life like you and I wash a car or paint a house. With no empathy there are no regrets.
So what are we as a society doing or not doing to help these people before it gets to this?

My ex did some really frightening things during our marriage. Once I finally left, a couple things off the top of my head... he drove me out to the middle of no where and I just knew I was going to die that day and would never be found out there, where he then proceeded to rape me with a knife pressed to my throat.

He stalked me every single day, all day. He would be waiting at the bus when I got home from work and I would have to have the bus driver drop me at the State police barracks and he would follow me there!

He tried to rape me with a gun to my head but couldn't maintain an erection because he was on some kind of drugs and ended up losing it...I took the gun and walked away. A couple days later he abducted me and strangled me until I lost consciousness. Thankfully a man came along and chased him off.

When we went to court, he represented himself and he questioned me on the stand!

His mom, my ex mil...is worse than him even!

Law of Attraction. Peterson killed his wife so he could be with another woman who already had a child and that woman testified against him and made their case.

Law of Attraction. Jodi wanted to be a professional photograph and take award winning pictures. It was pictures from a camera she was using that has made the case for the State.

If you put out a strong negative (such as killing someone) you get it back 10 fold. jmo

Another thing that I think works against her are the phone calls to detective Flores, the interogation captured on tape and 48 hours interview. It shows the jurors how easily and convincingly this woman lies!

JA admitted to the shooting and stabbing of TA....she admitted to all of it on the stand....using self defense as her reasoning. Juan caught her up in every one of her lies on the stand. When he pointed out the little pegs on the shelves, well bless her little heart, she didn't even think that one out. She was steaming at that point. The jury is not from Pinellas and I am sure that if they were to deliberate today, they would come back with DP. I really see no reason for rebuttal, but I too can't wait for it....Juan has done a wonderful job with this case and he's not finished yet.....and the 62 seconds, I think he has proven that she knew right where that knife was....MO

So sorry you went through that! It really boggles my mind what some people can do to other people.

BTW, i don't think there ever was a rope..I think she made that up to explain why there would have been a knife in the room. That ridiculous story of him stretching out the rope down the hall into the bathroom was just a way to try to claim she didn't bring the knife into the room to kill him.

I'm so sorry to hear this popsicle. Hope you've healed as best as you can from that. *Hugs*

Agree, no rope. But she may have thrown some things in a dumpster. Although, it seems to me that she would think that was too discoverable. Really want to know what she did with the evidence - clothes, gun, etc. Maybe someone followed her footsteps and found something? I can wish!!!

BBM That's what I had been thinking but while looking thru the photos from 6/4 that I had previously rushed thru(JA's naked photos :rocker::puke:) I noticed a photo of her that appeared to be a bondage(?) sort of photo.
