And I have to respectfully disagree with you. :) I know they said he wouldn't be able to move if he was shot first, but they also said it didn't damage that much. I know it goes against some experts, but it's still what I think. I think she shot first.
As to the amount of damage that was done by the bullet, I thought the coroner said that due to decomp there was very little brain material left so he couldn't speak to the amount of damage but could say that due to trajectory the bullet did pass through part of the brain, wouldn't ave been immediately fatal but he would have gone down.

A bit late to the party, but was only able to watch yesterday's proceedings on youtube late last night.

Needless to say, I went to bed feeling utterly dumbfounded and rather disturbed at how cold, detached and at times downright flippant Jodi is in responding to Martinez.

Perhaps I am simply oversensitive, but if I had brutally killed someone I love, not to mention having previously suffered alleged domestic abuse by their hand, I believe I would be rather cowed on the witness stand. Or diffident. Or demure. Or solemn. Or sober. I most certainly would not be trivializing the death of my former partner and the alleged abuse I suffered by making a sideshow of my testimony. It's sickening.

She seems to save all of her 'contrition' and 'sorrow' for when her own attorneys are questioning her. She does herself no favours, in my estimation, by changing her attitude so radically once Martinez speaks to her. To me, if I'm on the jury, that only speaks to her fraudulence.

It is difficult at times not to imagine Jodi seeing this whole trial as a game or a spectacle in which she is the star player. She is far more concerned with sparring with the prosecution than with relaying the truth about someone's brutal death and her own apparent suffering of abuse.

Ugh.

Thanks for allowing me a space to rant!

I agree with you in reference to the jurors, it's as if she forgets that they are there and that this is court and not a high school debate. She's a piece of work.

I am curious as to what you mean by bbm. TIA

It seems to me that there was people that understood JA was different. Does this 'different' develop as a child or is it in her DNA? Evil people that don't feel empathy. If it is not there you are bound to get in trouble enventually. I really believe these 'different' people can take a life like you and I wash a car or paint a house. With no empathy there are no regrets.
So what are we as a society doing or not doing to help these people before it gets to this?

I think truly evil people are born that way.

I'm listening to the testimony from yesterday and JM is grilling JA. She says she doesn't know what she did with the clothes. IIRC, she says she put her stuff in the car before she went back up to take pictures of Travis and say goodbye. If that's true then she must have had another change of clothes left behind in the house. If not, she would have risked being seen bloody walking to her car and dripping blood on the driveway.

Am I wrong about this? Does anyone else remember this like I do?

The first thing I thought of when I saw the picture of her foot with socks and pants was she had shorts and a tank on underneath. All she would have to do is take off the pants, a hefty tee shirt and the socks and she is ready for a hot day in Arizona. After washing the blood off her exposed skin and hair, of course! She could have stuffed her clothes in any bag and stopped at a dumpster....didn't she say she got rid of the rope in a dumpster, too? :twocents:

I think he is going along with the shot first because to be honest, either way she still attacked him with the knife. As he pointed out, she stabbed him nine times in the back. If nothing else, shooting him first makes it worse, he was defenceless with his back to her at some point with the possibility of already having been shot. What threat would have he been at that point? Yet she continued.

Edit : - and Im inclined to go with the M.E's testimony that the shot had to come last.

Either way it's bad for her! If she shoots first then her whole version of what happened is impossible: 62 minutes, where did the knife come from, etc? If she stabs him first she went and got the gun after he was no longer a threat.

Do you guys think it makes a difference when we're talking cruelty? I know the crime has to be cruel for the DP. So my question is what would cause TA more pain? Shot + stabbed + throat slashed or the other way around?

(God, what a horrible way to die. I truly hope he didn't suffer long.)

I think the state has shown that it doesn't really matter which came first the shooting or the stabbing...either way it brutal and inflicted pain and suffering. And either way she premeditated it and it did not happen the way she claims...so at the end of the day, the sequence doesn't really matter.

Morning :seeya:

I asked last night but never got a reply...

How long do you all think nurms will have his first witness on for?

I mean logic in me says everything will be a little more speedy now jodis off the stand but im not holding out much hope.

If he's still going on after lunch recess i will need to self medicate

I would say one day for each witness taking into consideration the innumerable sidebars, long lunch breaks and all. I hope rebuttal starts by Tuesday and that should last about a couple of days? Then closing! :great:

Wouldn't it be flippingfantastic if she was like "I'm out!"?

That would bring me joy! :great:
I want JM to get her to admit some people can lie about being abused when it benefits them.

I respectfully disagree. I believe the coroner said there would be no way he could move after being shot. IIRC.

Not really, shower enclosure shot first is the only thing that makes logical sense to me imo.

Exactly. Not to mention, according to Jodi, he cussed her out and tackled her AFTER being shot in the head? I think not.

I totally agree - whichever came first really doesn't matter. What JA did was unusually cruel and she did it on purpose. I think a lot of us just want to know what happened, in what order, because it is so hard to believe. Either way, she deserves the death penalty.

I was just about to post this same thing.....although you said it much better than I would have....I agree 100%....doesn't really matter which came first....she is toast.....I don't think Juan will have more than two questions for any of the DV's coming up...it will be right to the point and then it will be over....

I'm pretty sure she knows she's :censored: and that her lies were torn apart by JM.
I've wondered about that...does she realize it when she's been busted or does she think her ridiculously implausible answers are believed? She always has AN answer, she seems to think, from her smug smirk, that means she wins. Does she know that yesterday was devastating for her or does she see it differently.

I hope so too...'ma'am you are basing your opinion on what miss arias told you after the murder, correct?" Yes. "Would your opinion change if you learned that every thing she told you was a lie" yes. "No further questions"

Arias' version of the murder makes no sense. She says he came at her when she had the gun pointed at him, then she shot him 'by mistake', they both go down, she gets away and THEN he threatens her life? At the very least, Travis would have been down on the floor in pain after the gun shot. He may have tried to use his arms to protect himself from further torture but how could he THEN threaten her life? If she could get away from Travis (the first time before any physical harm was done to him) by running through the closet don't tell me that she couldn't run out of the door and out the house when he had just been shot in the head!!!

In the words of Judge Judy (from a video on youtube)

'Oh please!'

'That's ridiculous!!!'

'Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining!'

'Beauty fades, dumb is forever'

'I am a truth machine, sir!' I wish JM could say this!

'I eat liars for breakfast' I wish JM could say this!

'On my best day you're not as smart as I am on my worst day sleeping ' I wish JM could say this to Arias!

'You know that face? That's the guiltiest face I've seen all day'

'You think I'm not going to humiliate you in front of 10 million people?'

She sure didn't look happy when she climbed off the stand yesterday.

Hi Elley Mae,

Thanks for the welcome!

I think I was (rather ineloquently) trying to refer to the abuse she claims to have suffered at the hands of Travis. Sorry, too early in the morning!

I know that for closing arguments JM goes first, followed by Nurmi. Then JM get's the last word though because the burden of truth is on the state. So is rebuttal right before the closing, and right after the experts?
I don't know about you all but I am so glad JA is finally off the stand. Whewwww. I hope to never hear her voice and big words again.

Rebuttal will be whenever the defense rests.
