just read your all's posts, those are some thoughts regarding plant growth, etc. Could be. Just freaky to me it happened to wind up completely upright like that if she was placed lying down, even if her head had been propped up somewhat originally (I never heard that it was propped up), but even if it was, you'd think the upper vertebrae and other structures would have been in the way, keeping the head at least at a tilt, and after soft tissue disappeared seems like an upper vertebrae or two would still be in the way (of the skull sitting completely upright).... I would have expected the head to be lying back or to topple back eventually. But maybe pushed up into the upright position by plant growth, that's a thought... unless it was placed like that after it was disarticulated or something.

you gave me another thought, maybe hair entangled with plants could pull the head upright. It seems like it would be almost a miracle for it to wind up perfectly upright but amazing things do happen sometimes.

Ok had to come back and add more, really didn't want to but felt compelled.
Scenario: standing water animals insects wind wind rain flowing water wind sloshing water animals water wind water
All of that and the animals and insects moving the remains around - maybe since the bottom of the skull is somewhat of a flat type surface (not rounded like the top of the skull) , once the skull was in this position it would have been more difficult to fall to the side, if at this point the water was not moving and the only activity was from insects

Even if School was going, this is not a street that would appear to have a lot of foot traffic.
There are no sidewalks on this street. The school is an Elementary School, what is that, pre-k thru 5th? I imagine that most, if not all, of the children ride a bus or most likely, are picked up from school at that age.

I don't know how much a child's skull actually weighs, but if it's in the neighborhood of a pound or two, I suspect ANYTHING could account for its position, or change thereof. Although the water was standing (as opposed to a flowing stream or babbling brook), it came and it left, it was blown by hurricane force, and it that implies movement. Water is very strong, it has an incredible power to sway and move and dislodge items. Water, wind, animals, more water, more animals...

...and can get "stuck" in mud or marshy terrain.

We haven't seen photos of the skull, right? Personally I don't have an issue with how it "ended up" (no pun intended)...but I'd really like to see photos to know what exactly it is we're talking about. JMO

I don't believe we, JQ public, will ever see the actual photos due to the Dale Earnhardt ruling and law. Might see sketches, if allowed, after the trial but not the actual photos.

Actually, I am surprised that no one has actually "recreated" the placement of Caylee's remains with life size dimensions and all. Ugh, not something I would want to view; but like the autopsy I read it because I owed it to Caylee.

Courtesy of LamBChop in the mythbusters thread, I see a new post that there was no plant growth attached to the skull, but it was actually on or through the plastic bag.

I stand corrected and suggest perhaps it was a combination of the water filling up in that area, then draining, and the plant growth under and into the bag.

Aedrys ITA, I cannot look at them either! I have a hard time just reading the duct tape thread and nearly lost it when I read what had happened to little Caylee after she was left there in the trash bags. :furious: I couldn't sleep and actually cried over it!
