Trying to get caught up in this new thread and for a few minutes I was almost giddy thinking that once drinks were served we were all getting along a bit better (adversaries Thanking each others' posts, a bit of lighthearted discussion over wine) but reading further it seems things are getting uglier than ever. :(

Please, for the sake of this poor baby who suffered a horrific death while in his father's care (whether accidentally or purposefully - we all pretty much know where we stand individually), can we just try to be less judgemental of each other, less harsh. Clearly many of us are stressed out (no thanks to the election, let alone the verdict watch) but a little kindness and understanding - or a lot less negativity - would seem to be in order for those who are here in part to honor the memory of little Cooper

MOO - peace.
Penny

Don't worry Penny - we have way more bark than bite here! I can only speak for myself but just because I've butted heads with a few folks on this thread doesn't mean anything personal and IMO I think that holds for other posters too. Example - I've gotten po'd at Poster X a few times here but I thought she was brilliant on the XX thread and it's likely I'll go on to new threads and be right there beside her on her take of the case. Or on the other side of the table, lol. IOW, emotions ebb and flow but I think we all try to get along and work past the disagreements.

Once this case is over we move on because really, we have no effect on the cases we follow so we can't influence the outcome anyway. We show our support for the victim - that's what we do best.

Anyhow, it's finally after 5 here for real so I'm having a glass of wine, "Happy" is playing in the background and I'm looking at Canadian real estate in case the election goes sour, lol!

Ribeyes and potatoes for hungry hunters.
One ten point buck, one fat doe and 40 quail today
I'm going to have to find your quail treasure trove, we only do birds and I've never even seen land produce that much!

I did go dove hunting in Argentina 3 years ago, 844 for me, and 1,214 for my husband in 2 days.

Good red my main tipple too. I've never used Pernod with seafood, only chicken. Is it mainly prawns/lobster you use it with?
I prefer to drink.... who am I kidding? Just pour me a glass and I'll drink it ;)

LOL I live in Canada and we have 2 extry bedrooms at our city home. Just in case LOL

Thats what I figured. They don't seem like they'd be greasy or gamy. Anything that free range has to be pretty good.
Now BEAR. That seems like it would be a different story. Ok. I will try it next time I get the chance.
I had bear for the first time a few years ago, but drenched in brown sugar and butter... it was amazing!

Can the jury start deliberating ASAP in the morning, or do they have more administrivia to go through? I hope they don't have to revisit the jury instructions in the courtroom. Did she send them off to deliberate at the end of today? TIA.

This was the case that first brought me to Websleuths (though I first heard of WS in the Dr. Teleka Patrick case...I didn't join then, just peeked at what you guys do here).

I can't believe that it's already been a couple of years since first joining here to talk about little Cooper's case.

This is the first trial I've followed here. My interest in cases really isn't with the trial phase - I'm drawn to the mystery of cases, figuring out whodunit and why. Once the perp is caught, I usually lose interest (or if the discussion turns mean...that's a turn-off for sure).

But in THIS case, I'm interested in seeing it through to the verdict. I'm very curious about how long the jury will deliberate, if they have any questions they ask the judge to clarify, and, of course, what their decision will be.

Since we are on the subject of alcoholic beverages, am I the only person alive who dislikes Tequila?? I'm more of a rum girl myself...

Tequila was the first time I ever got drunk and I got so sick, the smell of it makes me nauseous to this day. Give me all the vodka and red wine.

Be my guest :) I rarely drink an alcoholic beverage other than wine (primarily red). An occasional Margarita or Sangria at a Mexican restaurant. I DO use Tequila or Vodka in marinades, Cognac in gravies, Pernod with seafood, good wines for cooking (and drink the rest) ;)

Ok this is totally not your fault but your choice of words has a stupid song stuck in my head since I read it hours ago and I want to scream...as the mom of young kids my mind immediately translated that to the voice of Angela Lansbury:
Be our guest
Be our guest
Put our service to the test
Tie your napkin 'round your neck, cherie
And we'll provide the rest
Soup du jour
Hot hors d'oeuvres
Why, we only live to serve
Try the grey stuff
It's delicious!
Don't believe me?
Ask the dishes

Not until they receive the judges paperwork

Sold! LOL! Actually, I've lived in Toronto and Vancouver and have extended family in Canada so I'd be quite comfortable going back. We also have a lot of Cape Breton musician friends and have thought about going there - my hubby though is Miami-born and feels that he made a major compromise moving to this maritime climate. I'm afraid he may not survive a N.S. winter, lol.

I have not followed as closely as so many others have. I appreciate all the updates folks were kind enough to provide.

That was not my quote - I was pasting and quoting someone else and it somehow didn't show up.

Sorry dear Judy. Mods fixed the broken quote and picked the wrong one. Was meaning to reply to your thoughtful response to that one.

Awesome!!!! I am a few hrs. away from Toronto. Oh yes East Coast winter can be brutal. It was 65 degrees here again today. My guys are out night fishing for Pickerel. Hubby will be out early a.m. duck hunting in the field. Go figure. Not typical to still fish here in Nov. I have many American Family. Some born in the U.S. and some who live in the U.S. who have not given up their Canadian Citizenship.

Yes, this case has been ultra-emotional for me--my youngest is exactly a year younger than Cooper and they look so much alike they could have been brothers--but they were NOT (just making sure everyone is 100% clear on that matter ;) ) Between the verdict and election watch, I'm in knots. It is nice to kick back and relax so my nerves can take a bit of break.

Thank you Ms M. I hear you.
Ps in case you have issues with Green Card/Visa, I own a little Canadian bakery cafe in Las Vegas and I'm welcoming all Americans to defect to my shop on Wednesday if things don't go as hoped tomorrow night. You will need to bring beads and furs as currency and be able to say "sorry" 50 different ways as we Canadians do. Being nice (and polite) is also required but I see you have that covered (!) You are more than welcome to join us.

I have quickly skimmed through post and somewhat caught up. The way I understand things the jury can't deliberate until tomorrow?

I participated in real life today, by helping at the elementary school with vision screenings. It was a lot of fun and I am going to do it again tomorrow. I am retired and do several volunteer things to keep busy, so I have less time on WS. ugg!

Yes tomorrow. They will get the written instructions. They were given them verbally today.

I'm doing something similar- traveling around the state the last 3 weeks- and the next two- giving flu shots at various schools. luckily I have some fellow coworkers as interested as me and we play the trial from my phone through the radio while traveling to the next school. It's not daily, but I will be doing it tues/wed/thurs this week so hopefully we can catch the verdict live. Ugh- trial ended sooner than expected and verdict was not supposed to be during flu shot season LOL
