UGH, this is going to drag on for freaking ever

Half and hour of testimony and we are going to break for 2 hours. :puke:

Are they starting a 2 hour lunch break? Good grief!

GS sure has a keen memory for what she was wearing on all the occasions that he saw her, but cannot recall where it was he saw her (Las Vegas?, Oklahoma City?). That speaks a lot for how he sees/feels about her IMO
ITA. Uninterested males don't recall what women are wearing unless it is reeeeeeally sleazy.

I think the defense wanted searcy to say she always wore turtle necks and long sleeves even in inappropriate weather..so that they could allude to JA covering bruises.

Nice try......*not*

Interesting juror questions -- like they're thinking of signing up

I know! One of them is thinking, "Well as long as it's a CIRCLE and NOT a PYRAMID!" :floorlaugh:

If anything, I'm left wondering why she stayed at his place and why he gave her a phone....how much of an impact did his help have on her ppl performance?

PT, made it's point, Gus was not acquainted with JA to the extent that he could determine her usual attire, but for the fact that she was trying to climb the Executive ladder of sorts, she dressed in conservative fashion.

Also, if Searcy is such a super star earner...why the mobile home?

I don't really know what Gus contributed one way or another, but I could see Juan using the hostility as a tactic to get the jury to kind of forget about the substance of the testimony and instead focus on the dynamics between the prosecutor and witness.

I'm not going to second guess Juan at this point - I am confident he knows what he's doing because he has been successful getting death penalty convictions in the past. Plus, Maricopa County's jury pool is very conservative and "tough on crime" so Juan knows the demographic he's addressing.

EDITED to change "Gus" to "Juan"

Why in the heck did he get her a phone?

IMO he wanted more one on one 'mentoring' time with her. Just like Jodi and the car she was buying from Travis. She made payments so that she still had her foot in the door to contact him, to keep in touch...

Not necessarily!! Some jurors have been spotted rolling their eyes - probably bc they can feel his frustration!! Maybe they recognize Juan wants to cut through this pointles bull***** and get justice! After-all, if JA didn't put everyone through the damn ringer with all of her stories of what happened & just owned up to it, no-one would be here now dealing with this!!

Until you've been to trial yourself, let alone sat up there at the table with your client(s) and attorney(s) and gone through all the motions you may want to remember you may not know what works best... I'm not an "expert" but believe me, some jurors appreciate Juan's technique.

It is his job to expose those who come there will an ulterior motive and totally embellishes their story and yes he should do it with indignation. Some here I think seem to be a little thin skinned.:floorlaugh: JK I have seen both prosecutors and defense attorneys be very passionate. So what .......each has their own style and Juan Martinez has an excellent record so it works for him.

Why in the heck did he get her a phone?

That would have been my jury question.

If my phone is lost etc. I go to the store. Just sayin'

One hour ago we were on pg 3 . . . . . . now pg 26! Wow!

I was just thinking this watching this interaction. I think the Prosecutor needs to tone it down with people who are not JA. This is just some innocent guy who knows the chick. If I was on the jury and he was being so completely snarky and aggressive, It would put me off. It would make me feel like he was over reaching.

As a juror I would be uncomfortable.

I'm not sure yet exactly how I feel about it. But I'm thinking that Juan wanted discredit the guy to the jury by showing them he IS the type of guy to not only participate in a slimy business and but to be proud of it. Those kinds of shady characters are not as trustworthy. By doing that, Juan is showing the jury that you won't be able to believe other testimony that comes out of his mouth. Juan is saying, "He's that kind of guy".

I am stunned. I thought he had some kind of bombshell evidence to say. What a waste.

And mind you the testimony we JUST heard is the result of a prosecutor misconduct hearing. Remember him telling Hughes he has "information that could either hurt her or set her free?" Right ....

This is a little troubling -- the jury asked if Mr Hughes was one of Gus' earners or however you put it. How does the jury know anything at all about Mr Hughes? He has not been a witness and the jury is supposed to have not been exposed to any media about the case.

Hate to break up the luv affair with Juan Martinez but he comes off as condescending , belittling and a pompous a** and as for him sticking up for Travis....seems to be a bit conflicted going after Pre-Paid Legal...was not Travis an Executive Directer?
