You are not allowed to ask leading questions on direct or redirect only on cross or unless a witness is hostile.

A hostile witness can be a reluctant witness who is not there cooperatively and is hesitant to give full answers. This witness was treated as a "hostile" witness by the defense and I'd bet money that during one of the sidebars, the defense asked permission to treat the witness as such for the purpose of eliciting testimony through leading questions. The defense attorney was permitted to ask leading questions throughout most of the direct examination, and after one of the first sidebars Juan quit objecting to the leading questions.

ok defense you need to get there because right now its really not doing much.

Wth is the point of this? To humiliate this witness? That's all this line of questioning is doing!
Amazingly, she is taking it quite well.

A bully to Lisa?

He isnt a bully to Lisa. In fact he has been in close contact with Lisa.

The fact remains Lisa would have never murdered Travis period. She still loves him as a person.

IMO

Sorry, I wasn't clear - I don't think he IS bullying Lisa (at all.) I just don't want him to come off like he's trying to upset her to the jury. By putting that picture up with no warning I was afraid the jury may see it as a bully move. Probably not the right words. Believe me, I am 100% Team Martinez all the way!

I've really come to love Travis' sisters. Their strength just amazes me. Tanisha has been there every single day even though she doesn't even live in Arizona. (Not to take anything away from Travis' brothers' loss.)

Is the stoner zebra lady crying?

OMG I'm so far behind...

What pic did Juan show Lisa?

One of Travis dead on the autopsy table.

I think. I got a quick glimpse as he was putting it up.

wouldnt surprise me if one of the jurors asked "How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?"

So why is Jodi crying? Isn't she the one that inflicted that wound? I call BS.

I am thinking that JA is crying because she is seeing how TA respected Lisa and here was Jodi, giving TA what he wanted, sexually, and she was getting disrespected by him. He kept her secret...she corrupted him... My guess.

Usually it's protocol to let the victims family know when autopsy/killing photos are going to be shown.

Not fair to the family, nor the witness -- since the picture was not allowed to be shown after the sidebar anyway.

Just MOO

Mel

i attended a trial once because my bf was the lead detective. the PA showed the victim's widow an autopsy picture of her husband when she was on the stand (she was raped by the defendant who then killed her husband)---she had no idea he was going to do it. he did it for the very reaction he got. nice? no. it was terrible. but it was very effective and she forgave him after the fact.

Some days I wish I didn't know so much about this case and was just watching it and seeing what the jurors see

This is from Twitter:

MC Superior Court @courtpio
One of the Jurors reported that they were approached by a reporter in the State v #JodiArias. This is never allowed.

The photo was ghastly. Alexander's face, eyes open, lips shrunken back, gaping wound. The gallery gasped. Arias crying.

JA is crying because Lisa testified that Travis was very turned on just by kissing her. lol

This witness is adding more than just yes or no now on redirect. She's a little fired up.

At one point when the DA was questioning her, the witness said she didn't feel comfortable and that her statements were being taken out of context in the email.
