JC on IS complaining about how disrespectful Travis was being to JA re: the waitress....
I guess they have to get people to watch somehow. :seeya:

Is Jean Causauraus playing the role of defense attorney / JA sympathizer on In Session? "How disrespectful for Travis to flirt with the waitress in front of JA" She's having a cow. Where do they find some of their guests? I know there are some brilliant, highly skilled defense attorneys who would be great on the show.. I wish IS would have them on to offer commentary!

Hi, LotusPawPrint. According to Travis' loving friends, he was a bit of a show-off, very extroverted even in groups of strangers. (In fact, as I remember, one of his longtime female friends said that her first impression of him was that he was a bit much and others said that he flirted almost indiscriminately.) That said, I think that waitress flirting incident shows that Jodi just didn't get him: He wasn't attempting to seduce the waitress, he was just being Travis.

Jury is 11 men, 7 women

I would think the jury questions have to scare the defense. It would also show that they are going to have to put JA on the stand in hopes her web of lies will snare them.

I'm calling tripple, double dog dare!!! Put her up there!! I'm NOT looking forward to having to listen to the DV expert.

OK, I have been trying to bite my lip, BUT, this guy seems to me like he thinks of JA as the little, naive female who is expected to step off the path because she is weaker, and needs the male protector to look out for her and guide her along the proper way. He may have felt TA had more responsibility to be devout, because the females can't be expected to do as well as the males.
JMO and a big jmo, at that.

It is my understanding that women cannot make it to heaven? without the husband taking them along?

I think the men are in the power positions. Or are there women in any power positions?

Ummm, Jean is of Hispanic descent, and I think she knows Spanish, she went into Joran VanDerSloot's prison in Peru.

Clearly my attempt at humor fell flat, I was making a joke.

I'm beginning to think that the judge is being paid on a per day rate and is determined to run this trial for as many days as possible.

Judges have to be very careful in a murder trial where the death penalty is an issue. They also have to be very careful to keep the jury happy. If the jury gets disgruntled with hours or schedule, it is difficult for them to really listen and weigh the evidence. I suspect they do lunch each day at the same time so the jury can make plans for lunch and keep them. Also the media. There is so much to a trial like this. They also didn't have the court room this morning due to another case. It is tough for any court, no matter how big, to handle a trial of this magnitude. There is also A LOT of work behind the scenes.

I had never noticed that about Travis before until Mike Brooks said something about it last week. He mentioned that eyebrow thing he does in a lot of pics with his lips pursed, and said that was about as close to a smile as he had seen.

So I started looking and doggone if he wasn't right. It's hard to find a smiley one!

I wonder if he had braces as a kid. Sometimes you get in the habit of not showing your teeth even when they come off. :waitasec:
I rarely smile with my teeth anymore (after braces), and it's been probably a decade since I had them off.

There are a couple of sorta smiling pics in the group shown when his childhood bff (chad?) was interviewed. I noticed he was extremely "gummy" iykwim and wondered if that's why he didn't usually smile wide. But who knows.

Where were her OWN friends? Ones that weren't Travis friends first? Where is the room mate she lived with 7 minutes away from Travis house? Where are her girlfriends from the ward she was in- the ward that wasn't Travis. She turns to men in HIS CROWD. I do not find that 'normal'- sorry.

Agreed - seems like the only true character witness for JA would be her mother. Bet they won't call her either!

If I was with someone and they said that you can bet we wouldn’t be together…..Guess I don’t have much of a sense of humor or more like I don’t like jokes made at my expense. It’s just a way to discount the person you’re with IMO

Oh, dont get me wrong, I wouldnt appreciate it either- its just irritating to me how JC acts as if the DA scored points with that little tidbit. JMO.

Hi, FrayedKnot. If Travis grew up as a relatively poor kid without proper dental care, he might have continued not showing his teeth long after it was no longer embarrassing.

ITA. Can you imagine the juror questions to Jodi, should she take the stand?!?! Wow.

Probably why they alotted time til April... We've all seen how Jodi loves to talk!!

  • #655
I have a great view of the stand- talking a lot to the victim advocate who wants me to come work in their office

Funny how things work out -- if that jerkwad hadn't cut you off in line yesterday, you might not have been able to speak with her so much! I love when fate steps in and good things start happening to good people!! (Guess it's also good you left the wig at home!! LOL)

The pictures that I have seen of his teeth, his bottom and side teeth look very crooked (as do Jodi's). I assumed both of them had little dental care as children, and because of their crooked teeth, both smile with their lips closed as adults.

Good questions. Women hold lots of leadership positions in the church. Often, women are thought of as naturally being more spiritual by nature. Just what I have seen- not speaking for the church, of course.

In this case, I think JA was good at reading what different people wanted her to be. I think this young man was taken in by her personality and her expressed interest in changing her life, etc. I think he was probably disappointed that Travis didn't hold the line more so JA would have a fair chance to change her life. KEY: Remember, this young man has not heard the other testimony yet. He is also not watching the media. He still has no clue of all we have seen and heard. I believe it will be a surprise to him when/if he hears the other testimony at a later date.

Their entire self-defense was supposed to be based on Travis being verbally (and sexually) abusive to her... yet all of the defense witnesses have debunked those false accusations.

These myths have been denied by DEFENSE witnesses that Travis did not verbally or physically abuse or demean JA, and further we've heard that JA herself was sexually experienced and aggressive before Travis - so he was not responsible for corrupting or pressuring her sexually.

From my understanding the defense was NOT accusing Travis of being physically abusive or intimidating towards JA, yet what did we just hear? All Nurmi had left to cling onto was "Tell me more about UFC" and "Did you ever see Travis hit a punching bag?" They have NOTHING. The only one left to make accusations is JA and she has zero credibility. She's got to testify and she's going to get FRIED by Juan. I can't wait.
I know of not a single case in which a defendant has been sentenced to a lesser crime, acquitted, or received a lesser sentence for verbal or emotional abuse alone.

Every case I am familiar with has contained aspects of physical violence as well. There are still many, many people though who believe unless one is being physically injured there is no abuse. Many laws do nothing to protect those trapped in an emotional or psychologically abusive relationship either. (Though this is changing. A few European countries have recently passed legislation specifically criminalising psychological abuse. :great:)

This is all just FWIW. Little makes me more enraged than when someone claims domestic violence whose actions are so contrary to having lived through that experience. :furious:

I've seen some pics of Travis where he is really smiling. There's a pic of him and Lisa where he looks gleefully happy. JMO, he didn't seem to be as happy around Jodi in many of the pics.

what is UFC fight night?

I think it's the same as Tony L., friends and room mates watched at BWW with Casey. It's guys being guys. Heck wasn't Daniel there watching it also?

A punching bag is also used to relieve stress. I have a neighbor with four boys and they have one. They get to fighting , mama sends them outside and they take it out on the bag. If they still want to, she makes them do laps at the track across from her. She's 5"2 and they don't cross her much.
