The White Ford 250 Pick Up Truck Towed from the Family Home

Zaha, it's actually chain of custody. Here's a description and link for more info.
Chain of custody (CoC) refers to the chronological documentation or paper trail, showing the seizure, custody, control, transfer, analysis, and disposition of evidence, physical or electronic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chain_of_custody

(Sorry about the wiki link, it actually explained it best)

This tutorial is helpful too; start with overview.

Many different people participate in the process of collecting, transporting, analyzing, and reporting on particular samples and data. As an environmental professional, you are aware that the test results from any samples you handle may be used as evidence in future court cases. Imagine a courtroom situation where the chemist who analyzed the sample takes the witness stand and cannot state with certainty who has had access to the sample before s/he received it. To avoid such situations, you should maintain a chronological record of who has been in possession of the samples and what analyses have been performed on them. Following chain-of-custody procedures when handling samples and data helps provide assurance that they have not been tampered with.

This lesson introduces you to the basic concepts underlying chain of custody: what it is and why it is important.

Thank you for clarifying that. Yes, clearly no chain of custody. LE to go with the truck, sign, sign, sign, hand off, sign. Saw none of that and I doubt it would be that easy to avoid with a video camera shooting. Nothing to do with the case.

If LE had really been the one to tow this truck the media would have been stuck like glue to the back of it right onto the police impounded yard.

IMO

If LE were to allow such obvious and potentially damning evidence to slip through their fingers, then the whole department needs to be shut down. That would be incompetence on a level that is simply stunning. Considering the number of agencies involved here, including the FBI... I seriously doubt they would have neglected to thoroughly examine all vehicles belonging to the family.

If this truck IS at a public dealer/garage, then it's of no use to LE.

JMO, of course.

I know what your saying Calliope, I'm just saying my opinion :) Stranger things have happened, LE does make mistake's sometimes .....

I know. For the sake of justice for Kyron, I hope the hell not.

Screenshot of truck being loaded from KOIN video.
Thank you for the picture and the link to the video story, pufnstuf.

I wonder why the news reporter did not elaborate on the make, model, and year of the Horman's truck? Of course we have the video, but many people don't know one white pick-up from another. Then again, a picture is worth a lot.

If the reporter had filled in the truck's detail would that have made them appear to be "investigating"? Have they been asked by LE not to do that and they are complying?

How much more do we need to be "fed" in order to connect the dots? A "white pick-up truck" being taken from the Horman's residence and one of the few news releases involves timely sightings of a "white pick-up truck."

Sure, it could be a coincidence. Highly doubtful, I would think. If the Hormans are in charge of their own lives at this point, the last thing they would want being seen would be "a white pick-up truck" being towed from their home, I would think. If it wasn't caught on the news, the tow truck driver or the mechanic could make it common knowledge immediately.

My guess is that LE made the statement about the Horman's having it towed for repairs in order to protect the integrity of their investigation and maybe to protect one, or more, of the Hormans; either their reputation or their safety, at the present time.

If this has already been discussed a lot, I apologize. I just started reading this thread.

These thoughts are all just opinion.

No more FB links without mod approval for the time being.

Yep. Or maybe while it's at the dealership getting repaired - they decide to get it detailed inside and out.

I agree with the other poster who said too many coincidences (white truck spotted in strange place day of and early morning after, white truck owned by family, their white truck towed to dealer).

Even if LE did not suspect the family, wouldn't they still check for evidence in the family vehicles as well as their home - don't they cover all bases before ruling anything out?

I am sure that they (LE) have done that long ago, if we here as completely amateur sleuths can conclude that it might be relevant, I am sure that LE, with for more knowledge and information that anyone here has, is quite capable of doing what needs to be done. If LE ever thinks they need to come to us for suggestions on how to proceed with an investigation.....we should all be very worried! So far, they seem to be well in control of handling things like the professionals that they all are in their field.

I am really curious on how the media works.

It has been hypothesized here that there is no comfortable place for media to be by the family home. No place to park on the road.

It is highly conceivable that they have paid a neighbor to set up in their yard. I would certainly do it.

Do people feel that the media is camped out by the family home 24/7 with a camera crew handy for any piece of news?

I don't....I think that LE told them to back off and they slinked away. They've taken pics of the mailbox and some brave reporter was actually there for the truck towing caper...otherwise, they've been absent....as far as I know...if they are there, they're keeping it to themselves.

If LE was taking this truck, it would have to be covered, otherwise any old dust, particles, etc could possibly blow into it (or out of it) and contaminate the interior or the bed of the truck, or surely a defense would argue as such and I would have to believe them. This would be a major screw-up if indeed LE transported this truck in an unsecured manner.

That is just weird!

I went and tried it, but can't get it to pop up.

My guess is that they have certain headlines prepared (as morbid as that sounds) so they can get them up quickly when news breaks, and they accidentally launched this one. It appears to have been removed already.

  • #132
Well now I wonder if the mechanic thing was just a rumor posted by LE to throw everyone off ? Nah..... perhaps

I'll concur on this. You might be surprised how the major news agencies have 'death files' ready to go at a moments notice. It's tacky that it showed up however.

Lurker here, had to put in my 2 cents on this:

It seems suspicious to me, that your child is missing, a white truck is reported to be seen in an unsual place by two people, the family of the child that is missing have a white truck that has to be towed. Red Flag, period.

I agree - it does seem suspicious. Especially since a white truck with a woman drove down a dead-end remote road TWICE (3:p & 2a) the very day Kyron dispappeared and just 45 minutes before s-mom was at his bus stop.

Maybe it was intentional so that the focus of the search would concentrate right there on the property around the dead end road. Maybe a woman was driving a white truck similiar to s-mom's so people would think of her as the predator rather than focus on someone more likely. The focus for a search was on that area, maybe that was the idea of it all. Could be all kind of things but seems to me it was very intentional by someone - someone who wanted to plant in an image of s-mom in a white truck. After all, why would a child predator/murderer keep a child's body in a truck all day and into the wee hours the am? Why would someone drive down a dead-end road twice? just my opinion and all that stuff.

Check it out in the daytime and do your work in the middle of the night.

Check it out in the daytime and do your work in the middle of the night.

Or, go to a place where you know you will be noticed as to draw attention from the real place to search.

I'm sure at 2:AM LE was busy questioning those closest to little Kyron. moo

lol dear "EYES" !

There's the most logical answer and alibi if you will, right in front of "our EYES".

Everyone keeps forgetting to look at the clock on this case.

If that WAS the truck, who on earth was driving it?

Me thinks perhaps LE is just laughing at this truck thang.
