Three children and two teenagers have been arrested over the murder of an 80-year-old man. Leicestershire, UK.

I thought it was a kind of skateboard??? 🤔

That was my first thought.
But, who knows?

Am I right in thinking a slider is like a sandal shoe? If so even at 80 I’d suggest that’s quite a sustained attack to kill somebody with one.

I hope they get lengthy sentences - I’m sure even at youth offenders level in Leicester they’ll have big targets on their backs for racist murder (Leicester is a very diverse city - I’m sure a lot of the prison population even at Yourh level will be none white )

it's a sandal/shoe/slipper

normally called 'slides'

(sorry this image is so big - I don't know how to make it smaller)

I think "sliders" are usually made of rubber type material so he must have used some force to clobber this dear man to death! Horrible little 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬! I hope they can eventually be named once the trial is ended much like Brianna's killers were!

Has it been stated that the shoes were actually what he was beaten to death with?

See the linked DM clip in post #97. It describes the boy slapping and hitting the man with his slider. It's possible there was a second part to the attack where the boy begins kicking and punching him while he is on the floor.

"Bhim Kohli murder accused

'acted out of anger'

after relationship break-up.

The boy accused of murdering Bhim Kohli in a Leicester park
is reported to have said he needed to 'release' his anger following a break-up with his ex-girlfriend.

In a letter with an unnamed professional,
the teenager also admitted using violence following the alleged fatal attack on Mr Kohli in Braunstone Town's Franklin Park last September.

The 15-year-old's admission reportedly came one month after he was charged with the 80-year-old's murder.

In the letter,
which was provided to the jury at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday (February 25), the boy said:

'My ex broke up with me
and I was struggling with that,
so I kind of just needed anger etc releasing.

I accept I did it and I'm doing time.
I'm just scared about how long I have to do'.

The prosecutor, Harpreet Sandhu KC,
told the jury
that the professional had later met with the boy and told him that the letter would have to be disclosed to the prosecution at his murder trial.

He said the boy replied:
'That's my manslaughter plea gone'."

Of course it's the girls fault. Us women winding these men up to commit violent acts

It is strange about reading about a 15 year old and his "exes" 🙄

Really? I had a boyfriend by fifteen, and I was from a conservative religious upbringing.

Sure, there are people in their midteens having sex, but the vast majority are just holding hands and kissing and sharing playlists and memes with each other. And a breakup from that is still emotionally harrowing.

Still no excuse for murdering anyone, let alone a vulnerable stranger.

MOO

I have trouble imagining this criminal
sending heart emojis and "holding hands".
Hands used to murder an 80 year old.

The worst of war criminals kissed their wives and dandled their children on their knee. People compartmentalise.

This boy decided that his victim wasn't a person, was disposable, and that nobody would care. Because he was old, because he wasn't white, because he walked his dog alone. Because one boy's vented rage totted up to equal one man's life.

'Treating people as things', as the late Terry Pratchett said. That's where all the atrocities of humanity begin. This boy treated Bhim as a thing.

And he treated his "ex" (cough, cough) as a thing too,
blaming her indirectly for his own anger issues and social maladjustment.

<modsnip: off topic and bickering over semantics>

I guess I didn't interpret it that way. He said he was upset over a breakup, not that he was blaming the girl.
It's indirectly blaming her though. He was upset because she had dumped him. Suggesting that had she not dumped him he wouldn't have been angry and beaten an old man to death. It's misogynistic and a poor excuse imo.

It's like defence mechanism
of shifting responsibility to avoid feeling guilt IMO.

Blaming others, even indirectly,
for one's actions is a tempting solution for some,
especially immature ones.

'CCTV shows children

running from fatal attack scene.

1740662753401.jpeg

Jurors have been shown CCTV
of two children running away from a park where an 80-year-old man was fatally assaulted.

CCTV footage, played to the court on Wednesday,
showed the pair running away from Franklin Park
minutes after it is alleged the girl laughed as she filmed the boy attacking Mr Kohli.

Prosecutors said the boy,
who denies charges of murder and manslaughter,
racially abused Mr Kohli
and kicked and punched him during an 'intense' attack.

The court heard the boy,
who was wearing a balaclava,
also slapped Mr Kohli on the face with his shoe
as the girl, who denies manslaughter, filmed the attack.

The defendants,
and three other young people,
were shown entering the park.

Leicestershire Police's major crimes CCTV manager Laura Stevens-Toon told the court
the three other young people were then recorded on camera shortly afterwards leaving the same way without the defendants.

She said the two defendants were then recorded running after them
before the group met up again at the end of Bramble Way.

Harpreet Sandhu KC, prosecuting, said
the male defendant could be seen pulling his balaclava from his head
and bending to put his shoes back on.

Mr Sandhu said the group then walked away together towards Braunstone Park.

He told the court another CCTV camera later recorded audio of them talking
and a male voice was heard saying
'he whacked his head off a log'.

He said a female voice was then heard saying:
'Oh, I know. I saw that. It goes 'dhoosh'."
