Tiger Woods Injured in Roll-Over Car Accident in California, Feb 2021

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a department ever ask for permission like that,” he said. “What happens if his lawyers say ‘no, you can’t send it out now.’ And then where does that leave us?”

Giacalone said it’s unlikely that deputies would have sought the permission of non-celebrity victims in similar crashes to release information. If the sheriff’s hesitancy stemmed from a potential medical episode behind the wheel, Giacalone said authorities could simply say it was a medical emergency without giving additional details.

Of course. Why should Tiger Woods get a ticket for driving 83 MPH in a 45 MPH zone?!

The all-time golfing great was seriously injured in a solo crash on Feb. 23 south of Los Angeles.

Tiger Woods was speeding, driving at least 84 mph in a 45 mph zone, when he crashed in Southern California earlier this year, authorities said Wednesday.

His car was traveling between 84 mph and 87 mph on Feb. 23 when he crashed his Genesis GV80 SUV in Rolling Hills Estates, a scenic, wealthy suburban region of southern Los Angeles County, Sheriff Alex Villanueva told reporters.

And how difficult is that section to drive at 45-50 mph compared to excessive speed of 84-87 mph?

84-87 mph where the speed limit is 45 mph? Hmmm. Wonder why he crashed? He hasn’t learned his lesson apparently.

I was thinking they came out and said he definitely wasn't speeding - it was just a curve where they have a lot of accidents. Why did the LE has to ask his permission before releasing any info? I guess it's when they gave him a choice of reasons for the accident - reading text messages, under the influence, drugs or speeding?

It's bad enough that there is one of those runaway truck lanes when there is a steep downhill grade. I'll bet dollars to donuts that signage is visible to reduce speed.

Looking the other way is lunacy when it was obvious he was engaged in dangerous driving, crossing the medium and across two lanes on oncoming traffic. Not charging him does Tiger no favours. And how do they know he wasn't impaired? They took no blood samples. Tiger's issues involve drugs not alcohol.
