Skipping the ping pong match in the LB discussion, but have been thinking about the reason why so many of us feel that DM & MS will be filing books in the jail library for a very, very long time. IMHO, the reason is that in an effort to locate TB, there were things LE couldn't keep from the public and those items are not part of the publication ban right now. Imagine what the case would have looked like if TB burned remains hadn't been found out in the open, if there wasn't an incinerator in the same field, if the truck hadn't been in a trailer in MB's driveway.
Kudos to HPS who actually thought something was amiss the minute TB was reported missing- they could have very well told SB that TB was an adult and they wouldn't take any action for 48 hours or so. However, their speed also meant that evidence unfolded rapidly and in front of public eyes. If all of these things uncovered in the early hours of the investigation were under a pub ban, chances are many of us would be taking a "wait and see" approach.
The fact is that thanks to the stupidity of the accused in this case, the whole investigation was more like an Easter Egg hunt. Oh, there's someone else with a similar truck who went on a test drive! Oh, there's the burned body...oh, there's a nifty little incinerator-.oh, look there's the truck in his moms driveway!- there's a hangar...oh, there's a wood chipper! Then you have an ex-boyfriend of a girl who say's "wait a minute, this girl is still missing and DM's one of the last people she spoke to!" Add onto that the info about his dead father? IMO, in a perfect LE investigation, we wouldn't know any of this.
Well, the world isn't perfect, and based on the bit of evidence that we're aware of, I have no problem saying that I've already cast my verdict. IMHO, they're guilty. But, I do hope these murderous idiots enjoy fantasizing about their constitutional right to be presumed innocent until proven otherwise. And for anyone worried about them getting a fair trial- they will. They only need to pluck 12 jurors from a City of 700K and if it goes to Toronto, we're talking millions. I'm pretty sure they'll get 12 unbiased people. MOO
