You're probably right. The evidence presented in TB's case will tie in with WM and LB's cases and will be overwhelming, DM's lawyer will convince him to plead guilty. Co accused may likely play an important role also. MOO.

Not exactly where my thoughts lead Swedie, I am thinking that there may be a cat that needs to be let out of the bag. Once it's out it may well zone in on a few rats. JMO

The cat's been let out of the bag already and he is sitting in jail. The rats will rat on the cat during trial. ;)

Who of the three has the biggest pipe dream? Soon reality will hit hard if it hasn't already for some. MOO.

pipe dream
A vain dream that will never happen, given the harsh reality of life.

The saying "letting the cat out of the bag" means something that was not said or not revealed is then revealed.

I am aware of what a pipe dream is thank you Swedie. I don't see that DM has any dreams other than proving his innocence, which is more a natural expectation than a dream IMHO

I'm not seeing anything about court tomorrow for Millard or Smich. Anyone?

If the cat was going to get out of the bag, it would have happened over two years ago. It's all happened, it's all been discovered and revealed to the justice system and the accused, it's called discovery. The AG has had the opportunity to see the cat out of the bag and has rule on it, there's no un-ringing the bell, there's no smoke and mirrors. We the public haven't seen it all yet but that will come, we must be patient. MOO.

BBM - Tamarind you must have missed this article then about DM's pipe dreams. HTH and MOO. :giggle:

When Dellen Millard, the wealthy young Toronto aviation heir, was first sent to Hamilton’s notorious Barton Street jail, he was optimistic a jury would find him not guilty of the 2013 murder of Tim Bosma and that he would soon return to his life of fast cars and exotic adventure.

Visit the Temple of Zeus in Libya for his 31st birthday, take his teenaged cousin to Jamaica, buy his mother a luxury Tesla car, perhaps work for National Geographic — in a series of letters from jail to family and friends, Millard lays out his plans for savouring the freedom he believes is inevitable.

“I’ve poked around ruins in Italy, Greece, and Turkey,” writes Millard, then 28. “The Parthenon is my favorite man made structure, that I know of. But I didn’t even know there was a Temple of Zeus in Libya. Maybe for my thirty first birthday, I’ll go see it.”

That tweet from Abro was from May 25th. I don't think there were any pretrial motions today. JMO

He could probably buy his mom a Tesla car from inside of jail - she obviously has power of attorney. He could even pay for his cousin to go to Jamaica, whether he takes her or not. It sounds to me that his comment about his thirty first birthday was as a projection, that was based on his view that the jury would find him not guilty. I do not see this as a pipe dream. JMO

TIM BOSMA: Accused killer Dellen Millard gets a new lawyer

The flashy and effusive criminal lawyer who planned to defend accused serial killer Dellen Millard at trial has been replaced.

Deepak Paradkar has been involved with Millard's case since the wealthy aviation heir was arrested two years ago for the first-degree murder of Tim Bosma. Yet he will not be Millard's trial lawyer. Instead Ravin Pillay, who has been part of Millard's defence team, although not its frontman, will represent him when the case goes to trial next January.

Called to the bar in 1999, Pillay's office is on The Esplanade in Toronto.

He was lawyer for one of two men convicted of carrying out a pair of execution-style killings to avenge the theft of a cocaine shipment in Pickering. That case hinged on a third man, whom Pillay suggested framed the accused men to save himself.

Comment:
Not so sure about that. From this story, though, I would say that Paradkar may be evil, but not stupid. He got rid of what he knows is a losing case.
Comment:
Millard's evil but not stupid.

A couple of posts have been removed that refer to something that could potentially be harmful to one of the cases being discussed. If you have accessed the link that was contained, please don't post anything about the content.

Skipping the ping pong match in the LB discussion, but have been thinking about the reason why so many of us feel that DM & MS will be filing books in the jail library for a very, very long time. IMHO, the reason is that in an effort to locate TB, there were things LE couldn't keep from the public and those items are not part of the publication ban right now. Imagine what the case would have looked like if TB burned remains hadn't been found out in the open, if there wasn't an incinerator in the same field, if the truck hadn't been in a trailer in MB's driveway.

Kudos to HPS who actually thought something was amiss the minute TB was reported missing- they could have very well told SB that TB was an adult and they wouldn't take any action for 48 hours or so. However, their speed also meant that evidence unfolded rapidly and in front of public eyes. If all of these things uncovered in the early hours of the investigation were under a pub ban, chances are many of us would be taking a "wait and see" approach.

The fact is that thanks to the stupidity of the accused in this case, the whole investigation was more like an Easter Egg hunt. Oh, there's someone else with a similar truck who went on a test drive! Oh, there's the burned body...oh, there's a nifty little incinerator-.oh, look there's the truck in his moms driveway!- there's a hangar...oh, there's a wood chipper! Then you have an ex-boyfriend of a girl who say's "wait a minute, this girl is still missing and DM's one of the last people she spoke to!" Add onto that the info about his dead father? IMO, in a perfect LE investigation, we wouldn't know any of this.

Well, the world isn't perfect, and based on the bit of evidence that we're aware of, I have no problem saying that I've already cast my verdict. IMHO, they're guilty. But, I do hope these murderous idiots enjoy fantasizing about their constitutional right to be presumed innocent until proven otherwise. And for anyone worried about them getting a fair trial- they will. They only need to pluck 12 jurors from a City of 700K and if it goes to Toronto, we're talking millions. I'm pretty sure they'll get 12 unbiased people. MOO

What's astonishing is the level of privilege that DM enjoyed before this...living a lifestyle enjoyed by 0.1% of Canadians:

High net worth: Those with US$1 million to US$5 million of investable assets – not including the primary residence and other hard assets like cars or jewelry. Canada has roughly 298,000 individuals in this category – a little less than one per cent of the population.

Mid-tier millionaires: Those with US$5 million to US$30 million of investable assets. Canada has roughly 30,000 in this category – a little less than 0.1 per cent of the population.

Ultra-high net worth: Those with over US$30 million of investable assets. Canada has roughly 3,300 in this category – about .01 per cent of the population.

You know what strikes me as odd...DP had two murder cases on the go, DM's and that of a woman named MP. When DP got off the TB case, at around the same time, the MP case suddenly had to take a break. It was scheduled to restart a week ago but it did not show up in the court dates site or in the news.

I wonder if DP was struck by a sudden illness. It seems strange that he's off once case and on hiatus in the other.

Question who is MP ?

The response from Ann, in regards to Snooper's question, on her article is interesting IMO. Anyone else wonder what that's all about? Don't accused typically hire a lawyer or two and stick with them? Did DM fire some? Did some take a look at the evidence, shake their heads, chuckle and walk away? Maybe DM just hired a whack of lawyers to see who could put on the best act and argument...kinda like an audition of Dancing With the Stars or Canada's Got Talent? :D I wonder how many lawyers DM has had on payroll altogether up to this point?

Millard had a lot of lawyers on the payroll at one time — and still has at least two that I know of.

I guess if you've got lots of money which likely won't be useful to you in the future, may as well spend it on the best defense possible. Not that I think it's going to help him in all honesty. Desperate people do desperate things. ALL MOO.

Speaking of money, perhaps no one is seeing to it that there is money in DM's commissary account? Therefore he cannot buy soap and shampoo or get his hair cut. It is up to the prisoners to pay for their own haircuts and buy their own hygiene products except for razors. Wonder if he even has or uses a toothbrush? :freakedout: Maybe frugality comes honestly? Or maybe everyone who knows him has cut all ties with him?

This is likely a standard form used in most jails and prisons in Ontario or similar to what each uses.

ALL MOO.

Well, why not? In the TB case, if there is a lot of hard evidence as has been suggested, the only thing to do would be to get as much of that thrown out as possible.

I have a hard time believing DPq would devote valuable billable hours to spectating the TB case for free, for fun. He's gotta be showing up in court for a reason, and my bet is that he is on DM's payroll.

All of these lawyers, DP, (RP and the mysterious other), DPq, special guests, any others, cannot be cheap. With DP at $700/hr, it can't have taken long for the bills to escalate wildly, and seeing as we are now 2-1/2 years in, I can easily imagine the total bill having topped $1M.

Maybe they're defending him pro bono.
