Aw how sad Cobbins is concerned for his safety, I feel so bad that he is living in fear, maybe he could offer a guard oral sex in exchange for his well being.........funny what goes around comes around.

I found this re GT's upcoming trial (article dated Oct 13)

After Davidson's trial was delayed two weeks, Thomas' trial was postponed for a month.
That delay has caused some concern for Judge Baumgartner.

In August, the judge polled about 150 potential jurors from Hamilton County for the Thomas trial. Out of that group, 122 prospective jurors were kept for jury selection, which was expected to begin October 28.

Now, jury selection for Thomas' trial has been rescheduled for November 16, 17, and 18. That shuffle could cause availability problems for some potential jurors...

On Tuesday afternoon, Thomas defense team began to make their case to Thomas' statements thrown out.

Baumgartner will listen to testimony surrounding Thomas' police interrogations after his arrest in Lebanon, Kentucky on January 11, 2007.

Co-defendant Letalvis Cobbins testified during his trial that Thomas was a longtime friend. Cobbins, Thomas and Vanessa Coleman were all taken into custody at Natasha Hayes' home.

In a motion filed Tuesday, Thomas' attorneys plan to establish a timeline of their client's arrest.

According to the legal paperwork, Davidson was believed to possess the firearm used to carjack Christian and Newsom. The affidavit also states Cobbins was in possession of the ammunition used for the gun.

A criminal docket filed in federal court in January 2007 also shows that Thomas was originally charged as an accessory after the fact.

Although Thomas was only charged as an accessory, ATF Special Agent Bernard Waggoner testified on Tuesday afternoon, that Thomas was a suspect in the carjacking and murders of Christian and Newsom.

Waggoner told the court that he went to Stacey Lawson's house with a Kentucky Trooper to ask her some questions and she was trying to get out of her driveway.

The officers blocked Lawson in and started asking her about Thomas.

"She identified herself as Thomas' girlfriend and she said that when we stopped her a few minutes earlier, she was enroute to pick these people up and transport them out of town, though she did not know the location they wanted to go," Waggoner told the court.

Waggoner was also part of the team that went into Hayes' home and called to Thomas who was hiding upstairs. Waggoner said Thomas came down the stairs after 2 or 3 warnings with his hands in front of him, waiting for handcuffs.

Defense attorney Thomas Dillard asked Waggoner who authorized the officers to go into Hayes' home to get Thomas. The ATF agent could not remember.

Waggoner also admitted that Thomas asked what he was charged with, but Waggoner told him that would be explained later.

Thomas was taken into custody at around 5:30 p.m. without a warrant.

"Sometime late in the evening around 11:30 p.m. on the 11th, a copy of the warrant was faxed to us at the Lebanon Police Department and my supervisor at ATF actually served that warrant and told Thomas he was under arrest for accessory to carjacking or aiding and abetting carjacking," Waggoner said.

Dillard says his client waived his first request to suppress his statements because he was properly mirandized. This excused former Knox County Sheriff Tim Hutchison, Sheriff J.J. Jones and Detective Nevil Norman from testifying for Thomas' motions hearing.

However, Thomas second motion to suppress his statements is still pending. Judge Richard Baumgartner will hear more law enforcement testimony on Wednesday morning.

What became of second motion to suppress GT's statements? His arrest and interrogation have evidently been the focus of his defense.

Too little, too late.

That was the conclusion of psychiatrist Dr. Peter Brown about the help extended to convicted torture-slaying ringleader Lemaricus Davidson in his late teens after years spent in an abusive, chaotic environment.

"I hate to be pessimistic," Brown told jurors Thursday as they prepared to decide Davidson's fate in the January 2007 slayings of Channon Christian, 21, and Christopher Newsom, 23. "(But) there is nothing we can say they could have done (that) would fix this."

Brown was referring to group home mother Alice Rhea and foster parents Carl Rudd and Flo Rudd, all of whom testified about their efforts to rescue a then 16-year-old Davidson from a childhood marked by his mother's crack addiction, physical abuse and neglect.

Given Brown's insistence that Davidson, now 28, seemed doomed to a life of violence, one might imagine that his role Thursday was to prop up efforts by prosecutors Leland Price and Takisha Fitzgerald to convince jurors to sentence Davidson to death.

Instead, it was Davidson's defense team, David Eldridge and Doug Trant, who sent Brown to the witness stand
.

(bbm) I was thinking the same thing. (full article at link)
