I have spent the last two days trying to understand his mindset and I literally can not.

I don’t understand how you can spend 20 years in Jail and yet in that time not realise that you need to change.

20 years is a long time to reflect on where you went wrong and what you want to do right when released. He will have spent more time in jail than free on the streets when you look at his age.
I really appreciate all these posters trying to figure out what makes him tick.
But I'm done caring and wanting to know why.
Truly DO NOT CARE.
He's evil.
MOO.

Was the trash bag with her shorts located near Chestnut st? They said it was found about 100 yards away from her body. I’ve heard Chestnut street mentioned several times regarding the search so maybe it has to do with where they found the garbage bag? Also, I notice the media keeps showing pictures of the back steps of the house where Eliza was found, but news articles are saying she was found in tall grass by steps next to the driveway, which would be facing Victor st.
According to today's affadavit the bag with her shorts was found 100 feet north of 1591 S Orleans (which is 3 short blocks west of Victor). It has no connection to Chestnut and is definitely more that 100 yards away as the crow flies.

How do you spend that much money at a gas station?
Good question. Many gas stations have convenience stores. Do convenience stores sell gift cards? Even if he spent $500 in each one on actual products, that's a lot of food/alcohol/cigarettes/whatever to walk out with in each transaction.

I know some people don’t like The Daily Mail but their video shows exactly where Eliza was found.

oh but the poster mentioned 'there's more video than WE have seen'
I thought OP was referring to what police described of the attack that was captured on security footage. I could be wrong but that's how I interpreted it.

Some states allow it. After a quick google search it appears that Tennessee does not.
Most gas stations have items for sale such as drinks, snacks, etc. Also alcohol and cigarettes.

Affidavit states that she was found in the rear of this house. By the steps?
There were close up pics of the ground where she lay in one of the daily mail articles

I don’t think most people can identify the smell of actual human remains. Once you smell it and it’s identified for you- it’s a smell you don’t forget IMO. Most people would smell a super foul odor and think a decaying animal/road kill, as an example.

The brain, imo, doesn’t automatically think the odor is human.
Perhaps I just expect too much in people putting 2 and 2 together. A woman is kidnapped. Dozens of police vehicles, officers and even scent dogs have been searching my neighborhood exhaustively. Then I smell an extremely foul odor (yes, the odor of a couple days of human decomposition is extremely foul) and I don't think a thing about it? To me, that is strange. Or maybe just generally oblivious. jmo

There was an imprint against the house from where her body was.

I too want to know … where did he go and what was he doing between 4:30ish and 5:40ish? Was he just driving around aimlessly for an hour+ looking for a place to leave her body?

It seems that he didn't turn off his phone and that is how FBI/LE knew to look in that area where her body was found. I'm guessing if FBI CAST found CCTV of him turning off the highway, they backed it up and know where he generally came from. I'm sure that will come out at trial.

Did you notice the litter and dumping around the neighborhood? If they are used to seeing people dump things then fowl odors may not be that uncommon.

Inflation. I spent $90 in gas alone today. Buy a new phone, cartons of cigarettes, liquor, some burritos, sunglasses.

But I think spending over $400 at a gas station is probably not the norm. The credit card company probably shut down the card, surprised he got two transactions in.

Perhaps. But the foul smell must have been outside the range of the usual foul if LE was able to differentiate it from the usual foul and follow it to its source. jmo

The house behind it (i.e. the closest house) is abandoned. I don't know if the house beside it (on Person) is, but it's set much closer to Person and the entrance faces a different direction. There are no houses directly across the street on Victor.

lottery tickets?
Great idea, but those have to be purchased with cash in the state of TN, and in my experience, most other states as well. I am leaning towards a lot of cigarettes or possibly Delta 8 which is expensive and very much available in TN gas stations.

I know. We had a bird die under our front porch one year. A medium sized starling type of bird. It smelled for weeks and you could detect it at least 30' away. Cannot imagine what something a zillion x larger would smell like or the radius of odor...
