Saturday, February 8th:
*Trial continues (Day 4) (@ 10:30am ET) - TN – Evelyn Mae Boswell (15 mos. DOB 11/21/18) (last seen Dec. 10 or 11, 2019 by babysitter, Blountville, Sullivan County, reported missing Feb. 18, 2020 by State of Tenn. Dept. Child Services; Evelyn’s remains were found on Mar. 6, 2020 at a family member’s property at the 500 block of Muddy Creek Road in Sullivan County; officially id’d Mar. 11, 2020). *Megan “Maggie” Boswell (18/now 23) aka Maggie Wood aka Megan Nicole Kys “mother” arrested & originally charged (2/25/20) with 1 count of false reporting. Bond set at $25K. Bond increased (3/9/20) to $150K. [see below for re-charges].
Indicted (5/18/20) & originally charged (5/28/20) with 11 counts of false reporting. Plead not guilty. Bond stays set at $150K. [see below re re-charges].
Re-Charged & indicted (8/19/20) & arraigned (8/28/20) with 3 counts of 1st degree felony murder, 2 counts of aggravated child abuse & neglect, 1 count of tampering with evidence, 12 counts of false reporting [1 count was dismissed on 2/5/25], 1 count of abuse of a corpse & 1 count of failure to report a death suspicious, unusual, or unnatural circumstances. Plead not guilty. $1M bond. Bond reduction denied (12/3/21).
*Charged & arraigned (6/20/24) with 1 count of 1st degree felony murder-premeditated/intentional. Plead not guilty. DA is seeking a life sentence without parole. Sullivan County
Jury Selection began on 2/3/25 & ended on 2/4/25. 12 jurors (8 men & 6 women). Jurors are sequestered.
Trial begin on 2/5/25. Court will be in session on Saturdays & President’s Day. Saturday hours 10:30am to 4pm.

2/7/25 Friday, Trial Day 3: *State witnesses: Bailey Hawkins, cross-examined by defense. Crystal Crawford, employee at the Econo Lodgein Kingsport. Katelyn [Jones] Carter, a Kingsport resident & were friends when Jones was in college. Gail Kyte, Boswell's foster mother & mother of Casey Saults. Sue Whitson, Kyte's sister. Erica Stacy, knows Boswell thru her son Caleb. Randy Wood, father of ex-bf Hunter Wood. Ethan Perry, ex-bf. Carl Perry, Ethan's grandfather. Michelle Gilliam, Sullivan County SO-Lt Internal Affairs. Played interview for jurors.
*Defense asked for a mistrial due to how 'screenshots' (i.e., Facebook messenger, Instagram) formatted to appear on screen before the the Jurors in the Courtroom -- a demonstrative Exhibit. Raw data has been admitted as evidence. Court denies request.
Trial continues on Saturday, 2/8/25.

She doesn't know if Evelyn actually broke her arm. It might've just been a bruise...which she claimed happened when she left Evelyn with EP and she fell off the bed.

Megan says the last time she saw Evelyn was at EP’s.

Wants to know if she’s going to be questioned all night, says if they’re going to keep accusing her of lying then she should talk to a lawyer. Then proceeded to lie…

Spinning a tale (think Letecia S) about Ethan having Evelyn. She was trying to be civil and let Ethan keep Evelyn for a little while. Doesn’t know if he dropped her off with someone or what.

Saying all this totally dry eyed, no evidence of being in distress. Lt. Williams was probably unconvinced.

• Williams’ interview with Boswell was entered into evidence and played for the jury.
• Megan she she did not know where Evelyn was at and claimed she had tried to contact EP to no avail.
• She also said she had gone to Perry’s grandparents’ home but they weren't home.
• She was unaware that Perry had gone back to a fort in Louisiana.
• The next witness was Joseph “Joey” Strickler with the DA's office, and previously Captain of Criminal Investigations at the SCSO when Evelyn went missing.
• He also interviewed Boswell twice on Feb. 20, 2020.
• The court entered a recess due to a technical issue.

Defense attorney probing Megan’s statement about wanting to talk to a lawyer. Witness said she had been Mirandized, witness said yes but not by him.

Defense insinuated that Megan asked for lawyer, witness explained that she asked if she should get a lawyer, said he couldn’t answer her about that, stressed that she never directly said she wanted lawyer.

Next witness up. Victim witness coordinator for DA. Former employee of sheriffs office. Joseph Strickler.

Another interview clip. Strickler said Hunter would pick her up after, Megan says she wants her mom instead.

Megan asks about whether or not Hunter has an order of protection against him or some sort of domestic assault. Said she overheard something while in cop car. Says she doesn’t want to be around someone like that. !!

Oh for heaven sakes, detective starts to say how he understands that here’s Megan, a young lady with with a missing child, trying to convey empathy. Megan, out of the blue says “Did you see me crying?” And begins to cry. WTH?

Then she abruptly stops, voice totally normal. Same stupid crocodile tears on and off. Waaah, completely calm, waaah, completely calm.

Next interview clip, now Megan’s preparing to throw her mother under the bus. Interviewer says he thought Ethan had Evelyn but Megan says her mother made a comment about having to disappear once everything came out.

• He asked her if she had one shot to get her baby back, where she would go.
• Megan told him her mother and her boyfriend had indicated they were taking Evelyn to Mendota.
• Strickler asked about a family trip before Christmas to Pigeon Forge that Evelyn did not go on.
• She then described again going over to Perry’s with Evelyn and Wood to drop the child off.
• Another tech issue occurred while playing the video, and Goodwin dismissed the jury for lunch.

Wow, in that last interview as Megan was describing seeing Evelyn briefly on Christmas Day when she brought presents over to Ethan’s (lies) the interviewer asked why didn’t she just take Evelyn back at that time. Megan said some blah blah blah about how Evelyn reached for Ethan so she decided to let him be with him longer.

Then she said that honestly she needed a break. Wow, IMO that was quite telling and maybe one of the few truthful comments that spewed out of Megan. JMO
