I completely relate to your post @steeltowngirl. I've never been so perplexed by a defendant before as I am with MB.

In my mind, I understand that the grand jury had access to the information and indicted her for the murder of her baby (this was no accident and not involuntary manslaughter) but I really wanted to believe MB. I'm also reminded that the State said nobody else was responsible for Evelyn's death but her mom, MB. :(:(

I'm feeling the same way as I so wanted to believe MB and still struggling to understand or fathom out why it happened. Why didn't she ask for help. Why didn't she .....

The sound was rubbish, I had to lean really close to laptop to hear what was going on lol.

PommyMommy thank you so much for setting out the specifics of the appearance. There's nothing to be done with that video recording it was just plain bad.

Death Penalty. I'm not a supporter of the death penalty, so I will likely stay quiet on that point. I agree it's hard to think about the punishment without the details around the death and the motivation.

We are not going to be privy to the autopsy or other details until the end, I believe. It's sealed up nice and tight by both sides.

I can't imagine what poor Evelyn went through if they're looking at the DP for the mother.

I hope justice is served. No child should die and especially at the hands of their own mother!

I think megan might end up taking a plea deal somewhere along the line.
When I seen the first video of her I thought she is very calm and not upset enough about her baby being missing, but then when I seen her upset I was actually believing her. She is the first person that I've been wrong about after watching her on tv.

I really cannot get her out of my head. Knowing all that time that her baby was dead and blaming her own mum for taking her.

This is all my opinion....
I never believed her, her body language and her strange emotions made me feel that she knew and was lying from the beginning.

I just hope that if she does take any kind of deal that deal says either life in prison or any long long sentence with the agreement that she isn't in contact with children and that she isn't to have any other children of her own.

It's a very controversial thing for some that I say this but I believe that sterilization should happen when things like this happen, very it with mothers, fathers or caregivers. Anyone that can take a child's life should not be given any chance to do harm again.

Beautiful little Evelyn didn't get to live her life and MB shouldn't have the chance to hurt any other baby again.

Found Deceased - TN - Evelyn Boswell, 15 months, Sullivan County, 26 DEC 2019 *MOM ARRESTED* #9

8/28/20 Update: Megan was arraigned by video in Judge James Goodwin’s courtroom. Plead not guilty to the 19 charges she was indicted on in the death of Evelyn, including two counts of felony murder. During the arraignment, prosecutors told the judge that they had not yet decided whether to seek 'enhanced punishment' — the death penalty or life without parole in Megan's case & will be decided at next hearing. If the prosecutors don't seek the 'enhanced punishment', Megan faces a life term with the possibility of parole after she serves 51 years in prison should she be convicted of charges. Brad Sproles, Megan’s attorney, filed a motion for a change of venue. The judge said that the venue change motion would have a hearing on Dec. 3. And for clarification on Megan's child abuse & child neglect charges. Megan is scheduled to appear in court next on Dec. 3 at 1:30 p.m. Also Defense attorney Brad Sproles filed Motion for Bills of Particulars.
12/3/20 Update: State will announce their intentions concerning enhanced punishment at next hearing. Sullivan District Attorney General Barry Staubus says he’s going to talk with Tommy Boswell, Sr. (Megan’s father & Evelyn’s grandfather) before making the announcement on Boswell’s punishment. Defense to announce the timing needed to proceed with their motion to change venue. Defense attorney permitted to share sealed autopsy with Boswell. Next court hearing on 1/22/21 @ 9am.

from article:

Boswell’s attorney, Brad Sproles, stated the defense still needed to go through some recordings that hadn’t been provided to them.

The district attorney general’s office is still going through some of the information before sharing it with Sproles.

Sproles also said more motions could be filed, based on the evidence.

Judge James Goodwin set a status hearing for May 14.

From the hearing, it appears there's much forensic testing currently in process. I believe this trial is going to be slow to start.

Nonetheless, the grave reality that all the evidence shows nobody else but MB responsible for the murder of little Evelyn is gradually sinking in.

MB is truly one of the most frightening defendants I've ever experienced. Frightening and dangerous because I bought everything she was selling -- right down to blaming her mother, AB. I have decades on this teen and usually more cautious when it comes to child murder but not with MB. I don't mean to come off as sounding hokey but it's like MB casts a spell when she speaks!

Looking back at earlier MSM, MB was living with her dad and two younger siblings when she gave birth at age 17. Reportedly, AB was in jail on drug charges when her granddaughter was born. IMO, MB seemed set on punishing MB-- using her to deflect from herself. I think I can understand why AB fled when she learned her estranged husband was going to report his granddaughter baby Evelyn missing. Perhaps this is the very reason that MB gifted her mom a car (that was never hers to give).

I was somewhat hoping that the DA would be able to use the threat of death to get MB to admit her guilt today and accept a deal of life without parole -- avoiding a trial. Unfortunately for everybody, the DA is way behind on delivering discovery to the defense that I don't see how the parties could even consider any plea negotiations before the clock ran out for announcing capital punishment.

MOO

Did you catch that at some point MB was not happy with her attorney? I think MB has been a challenge her whole life. Her childlike appearance helped her con people. She knows how to work the system.

I am curious about what turned MB sideways against her lawyer. Maybe he tells her the truth about the case or she can’t con him. At least she appears to have resolved her issues. Maybe she talked to another attorney and found out she has finally hit the end of the road. No lies and con games will get her out.

This may be the first time she has ever been called out on her lies and behavior.
