Who funds ISIS? Where did they get their seed money and weaponry? Do some research, you will be mightily surprised at the answer. JMO

ISIS is a terrorist organization. It does not represent Islam.

Although for about 14 yrs we ourselves have been being brainwashed to believe Islam = terrorism.
Somebody wants us thinking that. And it seems to be working.

Who wants us to believe that? ISIS DOES. ISIS wants us to equate Islam with the vicious nature of their terrorist belief system.

The problem is that this particular religion has millions of followers that believe infidels must die and what not. How many followers are living under the rule of ISIS now? It is not just a terrorist organization now. It is a pervasive way of life across many miles of the middle east. They have taken over many cities through several countries.

Seriously, I wish more people would make that distinction. A terrorist can be any shade.

The Islamic State is no mere collection of psychopaths. It is a religious group with carefully considered beliefs, among them that it is a key agent of the coming apocalypse. Here’s what that means for its strategy—and for how to stop it.

The group seized Mosul, Iraq, last June, and already rules an area larger than the United Kingdom. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been its leader since May 2010, but until last summer, his most recent known appearance on film was a grainy mug shot from a stay in U.S. captivity at Camp Bucca during the occupation of Iraq. Then, on July 5 of last year, he stepped into the pulpit of the Great Mosque of al-Nuri in Mosul, to deliver a Ramadan sermon as the first caliph in generations—upgrading his resolution from grainy to high-definition, and his position from hunted guerrilla to commander of all Muslims. The inflow of jihadists that followed, from around the world, was unprecedented in its pace and volume, and is continuing.

It seems that people who have been taken over by ISIS are not too happy about that.

Did this guy hook up with ISIS or is he his own one man army like Roof ?

I don't disagree with that. But no matter how many followers they may accumulate, they will never change the original true teachings of Islam.

Who is ISIS, where did they originate? Do you think it at all possible that the ideology of Islamic extremism could be being perpetuated by another ideology that hates Islam?

It does not matter what the 'true' teachings of Islam are if it's current leaders are able to get millions of followers to distort the teachings into cruel, violent vicious beliefs and carry them out by killing hundreds of innocents: babies and the elderly and beheading young men.

I don't think the leaders of ISIS or Al Queda HATE Islam. Quite the contrary. They love it and think they have found the conservative, true core of pure Islam. That is what they preach from what I have read.

<snip>

The gunman was not on the government’s radar, but law enforcement officials said that Mr. Abdulazeez’s father had been under investigation several years ago for possible ties to a foreign terrorist organization. At one point, a law enforcement official said that the father was on a terrorist watch list and was questioned while on a trip abroad but that he was eventually removed from the list. The official cautioned that the investigation of the father was old and did not generate any information on the son.

And yet, according to the recent article in the Atlantic, many if not most of the followers love their new government. They feel they are being taken care of and like the perks.

The reality is that the Islamic State is Islamic. Very Islamic. Yes, it has attracted psychopaths and adventure seekers, drawn largely from the disaffected populations of the Middle East and Europe. But the religion preached by its most ardent followers derives from coherent and even learned interpretations of Islam.

Virtually every major decision and law promulgated by the Islamic State adheres to what it calls, in its press and pronouncements, and on its billboards, license plates, stationery, and coins, “the Prophetic methodology,” which means following the prophecy and example of Muhammad, in punctilious detail. Muslims can reject the Islamic State; nearly all do. But pretending that it isn’t actually a religious, millenarian group, with theology that must be understood to be combatted, has already led the United States to underestimate it and back foolish schemes to counter it.

I don't think the women like the rapes.

They are into the Apocalypse. They should get together with the Preppers here.

Reminds me of the Dark Ages. The Crusades. The Salem witch trials. The burning of people at the stake by the daughter of King Henry the 8th.

RIGHT. Nearly all do. But 8 million of them do not reject it. And the tenants of the state are still based upon the most ancient teachings of ISLAM. Thankfully most of humanity has moved on from ALL ancient teachings, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, etc. NO ONE would want to live under the ancient texts of ANY of the major religions. However for some reason, EIGHT MILLION Muslims have agreed to live under the ancient beliefs of ISIS leaders. And that is a global problem.

How do you know they don't reject it? It's not like they have a lot of choice if they're already living in territory taken over by ISIS.
