I haven't followed this case at all, or anyone's postings. I did read one article online covering the case, and looked at the statistics for Darden. Sometimes this fresh eyes approach can be helpful, or at least reinforces the general theory on what probably happened. Here are my first impressions:
My very first thought was that this is an especially pretty girl. All american, church going, etc. I think this is absolutely a case of obsession and possesion. I truly think there is still a chance that she is alive, being held as an object of obsession. Similar to having a beautiful bird captured in a cage. The only contrast to the theory is in that scenario, I don't see a violent abduction with duct tape and blood such as was found. I would have thought abduction by means of trickery for someone that is worshipped, or obsessed with. So that doesn't add up in my mind.
The camoflage obviously makes me think of a hunter, or a military man. Someone carrying off a mission, or hunting. The word obsession keeps coming to mind over and over. Such a pretty girl could very well be the victim of an obsessed mind.
I see there are three registered sex offenders in Darden. That seems like alot for such a small population. I assume they have been cleared and were first on the interview list.
This is a local who knew the woods, was an avid hunter. Darden is a blue collar town full of trades people. It wouldn't be unlikely for them to buying duct tape.
The fact she was "led away" vs. fighting ferociously is quite interesting. Blood *was* found, so maybe she did put up a fight until a gun was held to her side, or? Maybe she was pistol whipped and dazed?
So all this rambling isn't amounting to a hill of beans except that I do think this perp had been around her for quite a while, and is a known. He's a local who is a tradesman and who is a skilled hunter. He might be ex military; foot soldier. He might even have a hunting cabin tucked away somewhere. She is his bird in a cage. I think, while slim, there is still a remote chance this lovely girl is still alive. I pray this slim chance is right.
Prayers to Holly and her family.
