Remains were found Sunday night along the riverbanks of the Tennessee River in northern Perry County.

Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems confirms that the remains are believed to be female and have been there for "some time."

Man, this is so sad, but I had a feeling this was the likely outcome with the flooding that was happening around the time she went missing. Thoughts of comfort for family and friends while they endure the long wait for positive ID.

Woman's remains found along Tennessee River in Perry County - WBBJ TV

Around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems received a call from a local resident saying he found a rain jacket close to a set of fenders from a four-wheeler on the river bank south of Interstate 40.

When the resident got closer to the rain jacket, he found a skull inside it. Weems says the remains found are from a woman.

JerseyGirl's linked article mentions this soul Roseanna who went missing 13 miles away. And over on her thread there are comments about this found UID. Hope for closure for all that loved her, but this is quite sad.

Sheriff Weems has said that there were some things at Zadakaus’ house that raised some suspicion that this was not a suicide or an accident.

Perry County is a small poor county that has its share of seedy people. Those investigating this are keeping an open mind.

I wonder if the "one piece of evidence that it may have been a home invasion" was just the open doors. I could see her going out unusual doors because there was flooding at the doors she typically uses and for her remains to be found in a rain jacket supports that scenario. Would be nice to have more info about the evidence and details about exactly what kind of flooding was so close to her doors. I wonder if the garbage man was in error, mistook someone else for her.

And now it’s a waiting game to see if a forensic anthropology team from Middle Tennessee State University can use the skeletal remains of Roseanna Zadakaus to determine her cause of death.

That Sunday, after dark, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office responded and located a skull, femur, pelvic bone, and vertebrae, along with boots, pants, bra, and rain jacket—as well as a set of keys, one of which opened Mrs. Zadakaus’s Chevrolet truck.

The MTSU team arrived on Monday and collected more remains, estimated to be about 40% of the total skeleton, Sheriff Nick Weems told the Review.
