"The Hawkins County Sheriff's Office continues to actively work on this case each day," Lawson said. "We are still receiving tips that must be thoroughly vetted and validated. Additionally, we continue to monitor and address the spread of misinformation on social media platforms, including content shared by YouTubers and other sources."
"Summer Wells went missing on June 15, 2021, and as we approach the four-year mark, we want to reassure the public that this case has not been forgotten—and it never will be, until some form of closure is found," Lawson added.

“It’s four years too long,” her father, Don Wells,
said from his yard, one of the last places his daughter was known to be. “My thoughts or feelings haven’t changed. I mean, it’s been heartbreak, continual heartbreak for the past four years.”

“We haven’t talked to [law enforcement] in a long time. We let Chris and Trudy [Colbaugh], our private detectives, deal with TBI and Hawkins County,” he said. “It’s just better that they do that.”
