Officers were called around 11:15am to Memphis Junior Academy on N. Mendenhall Rd near Walnut Grove. According to MPD Sgt. Karen Rudolph, the body of a 48-year old teacher was found. Initial reports from the scene indicate that the victim may have been stabbed.

A 17-year old male student is currently in police custody.

Memphis Junior Academy is a private school run through the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

School just started on Monday. What could have happened in two days to have a young person stab a Principal to death? This poor woman.

The call came into police at 11:14AM. LE was on their way to the school just after noon.

Obviously we don't know if this is true, but it took that long for law to get out to the school? If so my city isn't the only one operating with too few police officers. 45 minutes?

The Commercial Appeal quoted an MPD affidavit, ""Eduardo Marmolejo admitted that he had stabbed his teacher Suzette York multiple times because he did not like her and she made him angry," the affidavit read. "(He) said that he had been planning to kill Mrs. York since May 2011 when he learned he would be returning to the Memphis Junior Academy. (He) said that he planned to kill Mrs. York (Wednesday) because he knew she would be alone in the classroom with him."

I hope we hear more of a motive. Just disliking a female teacher and her making you mad is really scary. I hope he is tried as an adult, worried about this young man in the future if he is ever released.
