Found Deceased TN - Tamia Taylor, 21, met friend at 11:30pm and got on a riverboat, when riverboat docked she was missing, Memphis, 9 Sep 2023

Considering it was a midnight booze cruise, I wonder what the intoxication level of everyone on board was, including the friends Tamia was with. It's been years since I've been on one, but they were not quiet prim affairs IME.

Not buying the phone story, either, add me to the list.
They were celebrating on Beale Street (Beale Street Memphis), before going on the cruise. Lots of clubs/bars there.
I wonder if there was a DD, or if they Ubered? But wasn't Tamia's car at the boat area? Those details to my knowledge haven't been detailed, but I'm just getting in and haven't checked for updates today.

The boat company released a statement yesterday on their FB page that says she is on video on the boat just as it was returning to harbor.
I'd really like to know more about this video... was it taken within minutes of the passengers disembarking? Was the boat close to the dock at this point? Was this a camera inside the boat, or someone else's camera somewhere on the dock? Was the disembarkment specifically not video'd, or was it captured and Tamia was not there? Surely the main entrance of the ship would be the logical place to put a camera?

And if she fell in the water with her handbag, I think it would have floated or at least some of the items would have.
Has a handbag been mentioned?

One of the work friends, Kuandera Jenkins said he has nothing to do with Taylor’s disappearance and all he wants is to find his friend.

If you have facbook, search Tamia's name - the video will pop up on several posts.

The company, Memphis Riverboats, posted on Facebook Monday, expressing sympathy for the Taylor family, and saying video from the cruise shows Taylor on their boat as it returned to the harbor.

“We can confirm from video footage circling around that she was last seen on the boat as the boat was pulling into the Harbor, where we dock our boats. We have no reason to believe she could have gone overboard and we will be respecting MPD as they conduct their investigation. We hope she is found safe and returns home,” the company said in its statement.

WREG reached out to the company, asking exactly what video it reviewed and whether it has cameras of its own on board, but the company has not responded.

“No one knows anything, and I don’t understand how,” Debra Taylor said. “I do feel the people she was with, I do think that they know more than they’re putting out. I do think, and I do have enough sense to know she didn’t just leave here. She didn’t just disappear.”

I can see it happening like this: Tamia and her friends are all tipsy. She leaves her phone on the table because she doesn’t have pockets, doesn’t register setting it down, whatever. The friends pick it up and wait by the door since the cruise is over. There is a lot going on with people disembarking and they wonder if Tamia already left the boat because they don’t see her. They leave the boat, still with her phone. When they don’t connect with her on the dock, they figure she must have caught a ride. They obviously can’t call her. It makes sense if everyone was tipsy.

This seems feasible.

Did boat workers make the friend(s) leave? Boats get locked up.

Did the friends ask any boat workers to help search?

How many gangplanks are there? Could they have missed her that way?

Docks/marinas can have some very dark spots at night. Also the sound of water can help mask other sounds. So if something bad happened (being dragged or forced away), others may not have seen or heard what was happening.

Did she and friends uber or take a bike taxi or ...? How did the friends leave when they did leave?

Jenkins said earlier Saturday Tamia drove from Brownsville to Jackson to go shopping, ”[At] 7:30 p.m., that’s when we all got dressed and was heading our way to Memphis. Tamia was already drinking. She had a little bottle with her and she was already taking shots and we were smoking,” said Jenkins.

I feel somewhat better about the details - if they are truthful. In that the friends likely had nothing to do with her disappearance - but not that they safeguarded Tamia.

I think someone on that boat led her off and into a vehicle, in her inebriated state that was probably easy to do :(

bike taxi? that's a new one for me

Has anyone found the footage the boat company is talking about?

I have seen them in various cities, especially places that have tourists. They are an easy way to get around town. You can pretty easily catch one in well traveled areas.

For example, here's a pedicab company in Memphis:

It seems they are putting out reports that make it appear the whole sitch is off, i guess you could say someone is using the media to call out behaviour they have issues with , like two different stories.
MOO - What I also find extremely odd is that it was her 21st birthday & she’s celebrating on a boat with work colleagues - My 21st was spent with family & closest friends (I am in another country but celebrating your 21st without your nearest & dearest really seems strange to me). IMO

{ Tamia Taylor boarded the boat around 11:30 p.m. After that, the friends she came with were unable to provide any clarity of what happened to her.}

Were they all drunk when they got on the boat? I don't understand how they couldn't provide any details to her Mom, other than Tamia sat her phone down and went to the second floor bathroom. They picked up her phone, stood by the door and then left without her? Yeah, something either isn't being said - or they are simply the worst friends EVER.
MOO - THIS!!!!! It’s her 21st birthday, she should have been the centre of attention with her friends & yet her friends all seem very vague - something very odd about all this. IMO

"I said, 'What do you mean you don't know?' She said, 'We don't know. We lost her.' How do you lose somebody that you came with? She then gave me the story, 'We were on the boat. We were getting out of the boat and Tamia says she had to go to the bathroom. She put her phone down to go back up to the second floor to use the bathroom. We picked up her phone. We went to the door to stand and wait on her and then we left.'"
MOO - If you are waiting for a friend who is in a bathroom, why would you then leave her (Knowing she’s still in the bathroom) & take her phone with you & get off the boat?? - The more I hear, the more suspicious of her friends I become. IMO

There were two exits -- she might have been exiting through one while her friends were exiting through the other. But then what?

The midnight booze cruise can carry up to 300 passengers. I wonder how many were on board that night. They recommend advance ticketing because some of the cruises do sell out. This should give LE the names of most, if not all, of the passengers. They also say there is a DJ on board. I imagine that it is probably mostly full on a Saturday night

The friends’ story lost me when they said she left her phone to go the bathroom. That would be extremely unusual, bordering on unbelievable, for any 21 year old I know. Granted, I don’t know all of them, but I have multiple kids from 16-22, plus all of their friends. They don’t just leave their phone on the table with friends while out in public.
I agree, they even take their phones with them to the bathroom!

oh man I didn't realize there could've been that many people
lends credence to the friend's story IMO
they could've easily missed each other if it was that crowded
and she could've been led away in a vulnerable, probably drunken state
without her phone ... which is a red herring IMO

I’ve looked & I’ve looked & looked on FB, I cannot find any video of her onboard the boat that night?
