I don't want to start any religion debate, all religions are debatable. Every fact is questionable. If we had any record of the true beginnings of all the major ones we could debate that too.
I do however disagree that Scientology is a religion. The interviews and documentaries I have watched are about abuse. Nothing but abuse. And, spending all of your hard earned money. I don't see how this helped any of the common people have a better life. Not even sure it helps the celebs other than land them a new film or t.v. show. Also, children should not be working long hours and only a few hours sleep, that IS a good way to brainwash them and keep them in control. Only, it gets worse here, they keep on shoving them into poor conditions and telling them they are never good enough, begin again.
If you go back and watch some of those, and listen to what LRH was doing when he "thought up" this stuff, what he even did to his son, then what he was doing to followers, you still get abuse. No proof of happy homes, families, nothing.
There may be some happy people out there that are practicing Scientologists, but I don't know that they can say it is because of Scientology. Unless they are not working there, their children are not working there, and they are only in the beginning phases of "how to be a stronger person" which could be done by reading any self help book, or taking a class at the Y.

Watching youtube propaganda videos made by intolerant religious bigots is really not going to help you understand what Scientology is, it may help you understand what an asshat DM is and how screwed up an evil his COS org is but it isnt going to help you understand Scientology, for you to judge Scientology based on the actions of some FANATICAL EXTREMISTS is the same as one judging Christianity and Islam based on the actions of Koresh and Bin Laden, there are fanatics and extremists in every religion and they should not be allowed to become the face of said religion or define it to the masses. I understand some of you are new to all of this but the message you are sending, at least to me, is that you really have no idea what Scientology is, have never studied it, learned about it or tried to understand it, all you have done is allowed a few fanatical extremists who themselves are clearly mentally unstable, to define it for you and become the face of it. That IMO which I know is unpopular around these parts, is the very definition of intolerance.

Because it is an APPLIED RELIGIOUS PHILOSOPHY you actualy have to DO IT to understand it. You have to APPLY IT TO YOUR LIFE.
A Scientologist is someone who really does improve conditions in their lives - and others around them - by applying the materials and processes of the philosophy. If you are hurting people and they are in anguish over loss and separation from family: this is not true Scientology, but an altered form.This is what DM is all about, he ALTERED IT. There is a battle going on within the Church between those who would use the subject effectively and those who wish to destroy it from within.
But since Scientology really does work, and works well, it will be abused by those who do not wish others to improve conditions in their lives: and this is what you hear about on the news.
So, I say to you: if you want to understand and comprehend the biggest secret of Scientology - that fact that it can work and help improve your life - the only way is, simply, to do some. Get the book "Self Analysis", or one of the basic pamphlets on Study Technology, and use it. Just like any other tool, you will discover that it can be positive like no other experience, but just like any other tool if you misuse it, you may very well produce misery.
If you want to know what Scientology is do some Scientology, read some books about Scientology, forget about DM he is NOT Scientology he is a psychopath using Scientology for his own sinister purposes.

Yup, she won't talk and she will get primary custody. He will get liberal visitation. I really hope, though, that she has something in those orders prohibiting involvement with scientology and Miscavige.
If not, the alienation will commence quickly.

Katie's father outsmarted them all, he knew in NY they have OPEN COURT HEARINGS, in California the hearings are CLOSED, the last thing TC and DM want is anything going on in an open court, very very bad for them, they are likely going to settle because Katie or her father or someone was smart enough to file this in NY instead of California. Very good move.

Given how this has progressed so far, I am betting there is very specific language regarding Suri's level of involvement with teh church of Scietology. Particularly since it has been reported that the church allegedly spent a good long while convincing Tom and Nicole's children that Nicole was a sociopath and alienating them from her post divorce.
Katie seems to have really sought great legal advice (thanks in no small part to her father I'll bet) and had a pretty comprehensive escape plan, which went off without a hitch. Odds are good that the alienation concern has been addressed in this settlement.
I must say, the way she has handled this situation has given me new found respect for her. I always sort of equated her with her Dawson's Creek character. Sweet, naive, mousy, timid. I admit, I now think I had her alllll wrong. katie is coming off in this mess as pretty darn savy.
I'm with ya'! I'm very impressed. I think having a child and just growing up has created a huge change in her. She's a tough cookie. I hope she has a happy life outside TC and scientology's influence!

I just finished reading this whole article. I am astounded! Those tactics, and info gathering should not be legal! (Or shouldn't have been if they have been changed.)
If anyone is badgering you for money, this is a good article to know about. Opened my eyes. I thought you could only call a bank to see if another person's check would clear. Guess this is why used car sales people will not back off a price once they call or what have you for that credit check. O-M-G! Those poor families.
